Sorry to hear that this location in Plaza Frontenac is closing after more than 50 years! However, the last time I was in the store about a year ago, I was dismayed. The stock in the men's department was disappointing, now I know why - they weren't paying suppliers and many vendors had stopped sending them clothes. The designers that were featured were only for hip-hop and athletic styles. Gone were the elegant clothes I was expecting. The same was true when I was recently in Las Vegas and New Orleans, those stores are also on the closure list. Sad times in retail and for luxury brands. Au revoir SAKS. read more

On today I visited the store arriving about 1pm and had unfortunately received deplorable customer service from an associate, Tracy. I was working with my associate, Lori; however, I was inquiring about a product that was more in the scope of Tracy. Lori attempted to engage Tracy's knowledge and not only did Tracy disrespect Lori, she disregarded me as a customer of Saks. I wanted a particular Kilian fragrance and Tracy did confirm that the one I wanted had been discontinued to Lori. I then addressed Tracy inquiring if there was one similar to my original inquiry. Tracy said yes and proceeded to walk in the direction of the Kilian counter. She then abruptly turned around and said "you all can go over there and find it." To be clear, she was not working with anyone at that time, so we were not keeping her from another customer and after saying her last comment, she went right back to looking on her phone. She was totally dismissive to me and had it not been for Lori standing there, I would have let Tracy know in that moment how ridiculous behavior was. As a long time customer of Saks, I know that your associates are not trained to behave in such a manner. Makes me wonder if I was Caucasian if she would have reacted differently. There are far too many options of where I can spend my money that sell the same items, if this behavior is acceptable then maybe I need to go elsewhere. Hands down one of the rudest staff I've ever encountered (women's department). The items on the floor are very limited. Not worth even considering going in. I recently moved to STL and am used to having easy access to an array of high end stores, so I was very excited to come across Frontenac. While browsing I found a number of clothing items I wanted to try on, but many of them just had a single piece on the rack. Despite there being multiple associates on the floor, no one asked if I needed help and they seemed to actively walk away from me as I tried to ask for help with additional sizes to try on clothes. The store was essentially empty with 3 other women shopping in the department, I paid attention because I was so appalled by the treatment I curious what was going on to cause this. Of course the older white woman was assisted. While I'm white, I look younger and I wasn't dressed up but was in designer athleisure. The other ignored customers were women of color. I guess we weren't deemed worth their time. I even looked up a dress online to consider buying bc I loved it but literally couldn't get someone to let me try it on! When I went upstairs the racks were pretty barren and I don't think a single person was working up there. It was clearly geared towards the 50+ women even though that was supposed to be the 'high end' area. Super disappointing. I will say that the people shopping for bags seemed to be getting active customer service- but the women working in the womens department were so despicably rude and clearly discriminatory that I will never walk into this Saks again. I'll wait for my 1x a month trips to Chicago where they are LOVELY and I even have a personal stylist. I hope management reads this and does something about it. Discriminating against your customers and refusing service based on perceived race and age went out of fashion decades ago and is an actionable offense. read more

I'll review it simply to oblige Yelp, but clearly we're all familiar with the Saks Fifth standard of things. Whether from your own personal experience or through word of mouth we've heard a story or two about Saks' high-end merchandise and services. This location is no different...well if I'm being completely honest it is a bit smaller than a lot of other big city locations but St. Louis packs a mean punch with their exquisite line of designer name brands. I particularly like the women's shoe salon and accessories. Remember, they can always order what they don't have readily available in-store. There are 3 floors of top of the line merchandise to keep men, women and children busy for days. Google listing is also wrong. Those are some short hours. If Saks wonders why stores are struggling it is because the online sales are great but not available in store. We went into the store and my husband and I browsed the shoes. Two girls were working one approached and asked what if she could help get a size for me. I knew exactly what I wanted so I had no need for her to assist. I showed my husband the styles in the shoes I liked and the size range I would need based off the mm of the heel. The customer service was fine in store but the service we got a few months later was above and beyond. So my husband surprised me with a pair for my birthday in October. They were perfect! The Clare leopard print 80 mm. They were the ones I've been wanting since their release. The only thing was the size the were just a bit to big. So my husband said we can exchange them the next day no problem. So we called the St. Louis location to purchase another size or at least have them held until we could get up there the next day. Well they didn't have my size but the woman working in the shoe department said she would reach the New York location and have them hold that size needed and we could just call and pay for them once they're held. The New York location was the only one that had my size. Due to the time difference they were already closed! But, she assured us she would keep trying to reach them but informed us they would be closed the following day for a private event and couldn't be reached, so I would have to wait a day or two before they could reach the New York location to hold them. I decided to just return the shoes and then order them via phone. My husband purchased the shoes and had them mailed to our home. The return policy that Saks stands by with their shoes is 30 days. When he purchased them it was mid September and he gave them to me mid October but it was a few days past the 30 day mark. We spoke with a gentleman who allowed us to return the shoes despite it being over their policy date and we were extremely appreciative of his help and consideration of our situation. The woman (if I remember right is Jamie) did a great job in trying to help as well in contact the NY store. I love that they both went above and beyond to help us and to make my birthday surprise a great experience from beginning to end. read more

I have always had a fantastic experience every time I visit this Saks location. Being a smaller store I find it's easy to navigate and I know which salespeople are helpful in different departments. I buy all my Nars cosmetics at their counter. The artists are always very friendly, excited to show me new products, and help me with makeup lessons and samples while I'm there. I always come with a group of 15 girls during beauty week to get free makeovers and extra gifts with purchase. Best bang for your buck and a ton of fun! For bags and shoes they have a great selection that span a pretty wide price range and generally there is a small sale section for the budget minded shopper. For clothing they have high end options but also more casual trendy brands which is more my style. John the salesman in the designer salon is absolutely wonderful and can help you with anything in the store. Especially picking out that perfect special occasion outfit! Where customer service is a King/Queen/Princess, having a salesperson go that extra mile for you is what Saks does best and is known for. The store had some good sales for Columbus Day and a good inventory of clothes, jewelry and cosmetics. I get lost every time I walk into this store. I can't say I come here often (I simply cannot afford a darn thing in this place, because I can't really knock stars off for my poorness), I just don't understand why they have to make it so confusing. It's like they are trying to keep the poor rift raft out of their precious store. I usually go here because they carry some brand of makeup or are having a sale on jeans (and it has to be a darn good sale at these prices), and I have to say, the service isn't so horrible. They carry a good selection of makeup actually and the mac counter usually has a pretty decent gift deal going on when I seem to stumble in. Generally, it's a Sak's. I mean, you should know more or less what you are getting. Expensive clothes, fancy customers, a lot of botoxed moms in the middle of day with nothing better to do than try to maneuver their way through this horrible mess of a store, and prices that break the bank. But, like I said, sometimes, you just need to go to Sak's to find certain things...unfortunately this is the only one we have in St. Louis, so you might have to suck it up and go here. read more

It has now been a week since my horrific experience and I am still bothered by it. I have struggled with whether or not I would speak publicly about what I experienced and have come to the conclusion that I would share my experience in hopes that no one else would be subjected to such treatment. Saks Fifth Avenue has left me disgusted at the behavior that was displayed by employees who were specifically hand picked by management and chosen to represent their brand! Not only will I NEVER return, I will tell everyone that I know how this particular store treats their customers. On Saturday, April 6th at approximately 5:00 p.m. I was made to feel less than human as my race undermined my credibility in this high end retail store. While I was not wholly denied access, I was treated differently. In many ways, this a microcosm of racial exclusions embedded in American society. I am saddened and repulsed by the gross display of disrespect, disregard and overall rudeness that I endured at the hands of their employees. I will be graduating from a local university next month. I have worked hard and am proud of my accomplishments. As a reward, I decided to treat myself to a pair of high end shoes. Obviously, the first place that I thought of was Saks. My friend and I took the 20 minute drive to Frontenac to make the purchase. As soon as we entered the store (which was practically empty), the alarm activated. Being that we'd just walked in we both looked at each other with confusion and proceeded to walk to the shoe department. By now we notice two store clerks motioning to one another. While we were fully aware of their actions, knowing that we hadn't done anything wrong we continued to make our way to women's shoes. The female employee in the shoe department did not greet us. Meanwhile, I calmly and politely asked her if she could direct me to a particular brand of shoes. She then proceeded to ask me if I knew what size I needed. I explained to her that since the shoes are not American made, the size may be different. At no point did she direct us to an area with this particular brand. The saleswoman and I stood awkwardly face to face and in silence as she looked me up and down with pure disgust. While I was taken aback by her boldness, I chuckled slightly in disbelief. Did I smell? Was I not pleasant? Why was she interested in my appearance and not directing me to what I asked for? She finally responds with a snide grin and says, "Let me see what we have in the back!" Now I'm really confused. You're checking to see what's in the back? Other than me stating the brand of shoe that I was interested in, I stood patiently waiting to be directed to a display of shoes where I could choose what I wanted. What exactly was she checking for in the back? I didn't know exactly what I wanted, how could she? Maybe I was not privy to her physic abilities. That's it! She was able to read my mind! The salesperson returns literally within two minutes and says to us, "We don't have what you're looking for!" Oh! Now we get it! No need to say more! As we walked out of the store we see the other two clerks motioning to one another again. Extremely offended, my friend and I left the store shaking our heads in disbelief at what had just transpired. In closing, while I can't seem to forget the phrase, "We don't have what you're looking for!" out of my head, I still have faith in humanity. No one should ever have to feel belittled or less than because of the color of their skin. I suppose the folks at Saks didn't get the memo. Get on board people! This is 2019! read more

May 14,2017, Mother's Day I took my mom to saks to kill time and get her the bond no9 she was mentioning that she like (Central Park south).This is the St. Louis mo Frontenac location. *It truly truly hurts me to even write this....... but it happened so I wanted to share. I've never written anything like this but some things should be addressed. * I knew there was a new fragrance (nolita that has a citrus fragrance which my mom loves) so we stopped over there. I work out of la and travel for work to ny so not really versed in how saks in Missouri is ran. I went with my mother to the Beauty and fragrance area. Saw an associate and asked upon fragrance. I was looked at and pointed in what direction to go.( not the norm of " of no ones over there so let me help you). I'm a nice person so I walked over with my mother(Mother's Day) to an empty area with basic fragrances. Not what I was looking for. Bond no9, was in another area, I asked and was pointed in the other direction. I asked if this associate would assist. It was very dead in there so I assumed the laxed help was due to that. But again it's a sale I assumed. I figured the person works in the cosmetic section and is helping with the slow day. So we go over to bond and I want my mom to get some what if an experience since she haven't been to the store in ny. It's a story to the bonds. The associate was clueless. No worries as I can help since I go back and forth with the fragrance. The associate Basically stood there while I'm helping my own mother with the fragrance. Literally standing looking at myself talk to my mother. They knew if she is smelling different bottles she would need to break that up, everything would smell the same. I asked for coffee beans. When we requested one of the bottles, the associate didn't go in the case like normal, they got the one on display across the wall. I didn't say anything I assumed that they do things differently. But the associate went to the back but took the box with him as if we were going to run off with the perfume. I was immediately embarrassed that my mother was here for this. I felt the oddness or something I can't put my finger on. The associate came back, I tried to be nice and asked if my mom could smell something else as my mom had a particular like which is citrus tones and The new nolita has that exact tone. Yayyyy!!! Most individuals if you tell what scents you like i.e. Woody, citrus, they would inform of all that are in that category and let you know some things smell different on the arm( individuals body chemistry are different) for others. So what may smell good on myself may not smell the same for my mother or on a scent card. Again I was the associate of this. I have purchased bond for myself so I know what service is like at the store in ny, heck even at other saks I've received excellent service as you ever know if you purchase one or two or what. Your paying money for something. I was shocked at the service I received. I mentioned about samples since again I get bond for myself but for my mom i was trying to break her in to a different fragrance vs. creed and Tom ford which she would get on the select holidays. So we went to a different register and again it felt as if we were these," I was this young hip hop head" that come in the store and I assume the associates categorize everyone the same. Maybe he assumed I wasn't going to buy anything because that was the exact feeling. Funny thing I was going to buy nolita and my mom one item but I rather buy online. My mother didn't tell me anything until the night after dinner. She mentioned that she didn't want to visit the store in St. Louis, she has purchased online but the store associate treated us differently. She was disappointed in her experience. I rather that happened to myself than my mother experience it. The sort of discrimination that was visibly there. My mother opened the box and noticed the bottle which I viewed as a display, had some (settled ) markings on it. So she asked about whenever I come back to St. Louis if I could go with her to exchange for an actual bottle that was in the case. She was afraid to go on her own. So I have to either purchase a bottle online and just keep the one or give away or come to St. Louis in 3 days to exchange a bottle. I've noticed in St. Louis, there are certain individuals that purchase items, maybe some take things back, but please do not categorize every person that come in the door as a " viewer only, individual that may steal, may purchase but probably will return". I've been to other locations and I ask questions and yes associates see some as " certain indivuals I guess steal, or make big purchases but return". Just like every customer that walks in. I come to saks and just felt like I should've just purchased online to avoid the stereotyped look and treatment. read more

This is my go to luxury department store they have a large selection of clothing, home decor and more... A majority of the staff is kind and helpful. The Gucci store inside Saks is for sure a place to stop Employees at Gucci are the kindest people ever. Chanel is my next go to inside Saks! The ladies at the fragrance counter are wonderful, had I left after dealing with them this would be a 5 star review. My experience in the men's department was insulting, I was blatantly ignored by two older gentlemen. I was in search of a particular pair of shoes that I spotted on the wall, I ended up leaving them. When one of them finally decided they could be bothered with me instead of even looking he grabbed the shoe from me and then quoted me a price as if I couldn't read it for myself. At that point I had decided I did not want the sneaker enough to give my money to some jerks who don't think I can afford them, and don't deserve there time. His commission lost and my business loss for the store as a whole. I now shop Neiman's only when I come to Frontenac, I don't even bother to go inside Saks anymore. read more

He said he pays more income tax than my total income, implies a poor person who decides to return an order should never have made the purchase in the first place. Normally when you go into Neiman's or Saks the staff treat you like you're beneath them or like you can't afford anything in the stores. But Kyle took care of me and made sure that I got everything that I needed and treated me like a valued customer! She went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and even wrapped my item for me so that it would look presentable for my boyfriend (This was his Xmas gift). She was by far the best sales associate I've ever encountered at Saks and if you ever need to go shopping there ask for her! read more

Avoid majority if all sales associates in the ladies shoe department! Especially JOY!!!! She will be nice to you, sell you shoes, get her commission and run! They are absolutely unprofessional! I've spent $$$$ on shoes there and a pair of my shoes had a defect after wearing them twice! I've called and text Joy multiple times and she ignored me! She got her commission and was basically done. I've left messages and no calls were ever return. After a few weeks of finally getting a hold of the manager (Mary) and telling her about my situation, she apologized. The dumb part is that her staff never delivered her the messages and Joy never talked to her manager about repairing my shoes after she said she would talk to her. Mary suggested that I bring in my shoes for repair and that she will ship them off to New York where their repair center is and have them repair it. Literally 4 days later I receive a refund without a phone call or anything! Sure a refund is nice, it's better than a defected shoe! But I wanted the hard to find, highly sought after shoes to be repaired vs waiting for years to get them again. Communication was very poor....very unprofessional. Like I've mention in previous post. Stick with Nancy or Dixie! They'll help get and find you whatever you want. They're professional unlike the stuff in the ladies shoe department. read more

I have/had been going here since my mom used to take me to the store back when it was in the CWE. Beautiful store and many helpful people in it. Although some of the staff act as if there is a rod stuck up their.............anyway! Not all of them, just some. I've only bought from them when they have their great sales; and they do have them. The shoe department (yeah! you knew this was coming) used to be great - especially when it was sale time. And I even had one salesperson who would mail me heads up about sales and events. Alas, when I went back this past June my shoe dept. was no longer in its old place and was upstairs sort of just put in the walking areas around the escalators. What's up with that, Saks????? I was searching for a purse as a birthday gift, I found the one I wanted online but it said limited supply so I ran to store to double check if they have it. The lady said they don't have it in store but could order it. I said I would look some more and order it online later. Before leaving I asked if I were to order it online if it would come in the same packaging as if I bought it in store. She said yes, great. Purchased the YSL bag online, selected gift wrapping, entered in my notes for the card, etc. It arrived in something that resembles a shoe box. After opening it, the actual box that the purse sits in was dented up. No big deal but if I'm spending $2000 on a luxury item I expect top quality in every piece of this product. I stop by the store again to see if I could get a new gift box, I had 3 people point me in different directions. Nobody wanted to help, nobody cared. After circling around looking for someone to help I ran into a lady that sent me a different direction before, she attempted to assist me but really seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. She luckily ran into Jasmine who was currently in the middle of helping another customer. She quickly finished with her current customer and then took over with my issue. She was able to repackage the gift and make it look superb! All kudos to Jasmine, I asked if there was a manager or someone I can make sure she got recognized to but she insisted it's okay. I hope she gets the credit she deserves, she was basically running the entire saks fifth store herself while everyone else just moped around read more

I went shopping for a special occasion gown, ready to purchase whatever I felt was the perfect dress. I shopped with a friend of mine who has quite a few visible tattoos. Upon entry we were not remotely acknowledged by the staff, who I suppose assumed her appearance did not fit their ideal clientele. This location has horrible customer service. Saks Direct is also like shopping at the Dollar General. Don't even get me started about the inexplicable attitude coming from the employees here. Someone needs to remind them that they are the ones spending their Sunday working for an hourly wage and not the ones shopping. Had the worst experience in luxury handbags. At the time of purchase, I was told that by the *manager* that by signing up for Saks First, I would receive a $500 gift card to use by Dec. 31 (perfect for holiday gift shopping). This was not the case, it was a tiny fraction of this. Customer Service was a nightmare. The Online Chat employees continued to say they could not help me, and the representatives I spoke to on the phone were clueless and unhelpful. I came here last minute to look for an event dress. The coupons that had been mailed to me- up to $100 off any purchase and up to $300 off a women's or men's shoe purchase-doubtless spurred me on to buy. Some things had been moved around since my last visit--coats are located where evening dresses used to be. This location is smaller than other Saks stores but the customer service more than makes up for this. I will give the salespeople here props for going above and beyond to help me find a selection of dresses and, when it came time to pay, for honoring my coupons and ensuring that I got all of the discounts which were coming my way. The shoe salon here has been upgraded and, while not a place I make a habit of visiting, does have an excellent selection of Jimmy Choos. I only wish there were more Chloes available, but that is probably best saved for another shopping excursion, once my wallet has recovered. read more

After several less than successful trips in search of the right wedding dress last year, we gave in and went to Saks. If you are looking for a bargain dress, this is not the spot, but that said, there were many beautiful designer selections within our (what I would consider pretty average) price range. The staff (especially Gitta!) was very friendly and always helpful, the selection was gorgeous, diverse and tasteful, and of course high quality, which is more than I can say for most of the other shops we visited.
