I was first a bit suspicious because overnight the name changed from Sunlong Organic Market to Sunlong Natural Market. Then I experienced the problem of buying rotten vegetables. I think they must buy the old quick sale produce to save money, but it's impossible to find eggplant that isn't rotting, mushrooms that haven't gone soft, or peppers without wrinkly skins. I was very excited when this store opened, but now i am dissappointed and not completely sure if I will shop here at all anymore.

So I asked the service person at the meat counter if I could have two of 5 sausages to purchase and his response was "but there is no way we could sell 3 sausages packaged, who would buy them". Really, no one would buy a pkg of 3? Are you kidding? So I went to customer service who gave me attitude for asking her to page the Store Manager. Not exactly what you expect from customer service. I guess she is not familiar with her job description. More training... if I may suggest. When I asked Manager whether it would be possible to purchase 2 of 5 sausages, I got the same answer "Who would buy 3 packages sausages"? I guess Metro's consumer ONLY buy packages of 5. The real message from Metro is the consumer that is a senior or single or a family of two or more is really not their client. They dictate what you will buy or go shop somewhere else. No worries. I will never shop there again, and for all those consumers who feel the groceries stores should dictate how much of your money should be spent on groceries - because inflation gouging is not enough - consider how little respect they have for your shopping needs and your budget. Shame on you Metro - would be good if you actually cared about your consumer.

It's nice they have a Tim Horton's and a Winners beside the supermarket. Food is usually fresh, too.

This place has been scamming old Italian people and Non-Italians for decades. I'm Italian and have…read morelived in the area all my life. My favourite scam at Lady York is the deli scam. You order something and point to it, and the server grabs some unlabelled mystery meat (with no label) from behind the counter. Whatever DOP prosciutto you've ordered, you'll be getting San Danielle(garbage). Made in Canada, over salted, full of hormones and chemicals, and slightly rancid. Italian prosciutto doesn't taste anything like that because all Italian prosciutto is chemical and hormone free by European law. My wife has unfortunately bought Speck (a smoked Tyrolean prosciutto) there a few times. It has been rancid - every time!. This may be linked to their packaged Italian product scam. In Italy, all these foods must, by law, have a marked expiration date. The Italian items at Lady York have an expiration that has been obscured by a sticker, wiped off with solvent or bear and clearly expired date (check your olive oil!). Basically they buy items that were destined for an Italian dumpster for next to nothing and sell them to you at a premium. It's hard to find such 'old world' scams these days, especially in Italy. Because in Italy, they would put these guys in jail.

It's mostly focused on Chinese ingredients, but they have enough items for Korean and Japanese that you can get by with in a pinch. They also seem to have separate mini boutiques for assorted tchotchkes and beauty products which I didn't investigate. The store looked pretty new and very clean. They also had an impressive array of hot and cold foods to-go that looked quite good, although I didn't try any. If I have any complaint, it is the fact that most of the vegetables are prepackaged in miles of plastic wrap and styrofoam... it is shocking to see. But aside from that, I'd have to say this beats the T&T by a good margin, and I am a T&T devotee from when they opened their first store in Burnaby in the early 90's!

I went back few days later to grab some food for dinner. I got some items from the buffet, dim sum, order of fried shrimp tempura and kimchi. Skip the kimchi, the dim sum was decent and the food from the buffet was worth it. Check out moves quickly, the staff behind the buffet were very helpful. Make sure to bring your own bag.

I just went in to get some oil of oregano for a cold that just won't quit and was very pleased to see that they have a gigantic selection of organic groceries and (more importantly) a TON of dairy alternatives. They basically have Daiya's entire line of products, plus Earth Island cheeses. They also have tons of Soap Works items. I'll definitely be back to stock up!
