I had not been into this store in a few months, but I was out holiday shopping today and stopped in. Where is everything? No handbags. Minimal shoes. Jewelry display cases were empty. Is the store closing? Remodel? I'll echo what others stated about staff not being most helpful or even engaging. The same person walked by me twice and didn't make eye contact. The first time was at the door as I walked in. The second was in jewelry/handbags where what was left is chained up, but nobody is available to assist. I'm not sure why I purchased a Groupon for Off 5th Avenue. It wasn't a problem that I had to drive a distance to get to this store. I enjoy wandering and having a destination makes senses sometimes. What was a problem was that for an outlet store, the merchandise is pricey. An even bigger problem is that they don't really carry clothes that fit my current lifestyle. These problems are not the reason why this is a two star store. I found that a lot of the not reasonably priced merchandise was damaged. The merchandise is not displayed well. The salespeople are not very pleasant. I expected more from a company that first opened in 1867 and had always been know for the quality merchandise they carried I was able to spend my Groupon, but I would never bought what I did if the coupon was not about to expire. read more

Lots of good stuff here! Love the different designer sections as I am a major Tory Burch fan. I'm disappointed in the number of shoe styles for ladies in a size 11. I find this all over the Bay Area but thought Saks would be different. If you're over a size 10, the only choices are out of style ugly garbage. They go have a great designer purse section and they take returns if you ordered something from Saks Off Fifth online. That's a major plus! This store is hit and miss. Usually the best things for men are the shoe sales, but even that can be dull and lackluster. The store is kept relatively clean but packed with clothes as far as the eye can see. You'll notice the glasses on the back wall - it's a last minute steal if you can find a pair that aren't for women who have just had plastic surgery and need to cover their entire face. I have a little bit of a problem. A shopping problem that is. For some reason whenever I get any sort of income I feel like that is my "okay" to go shopping. It has become a very big issue in my life and although it has gradually gotten better (since I got a boyfriend who I would rather spoil than myself :) I still fall captive to the powers of retail. Although THIS store makes shopping a teeeeesy bit less stressful. Being an outlet store, the prices are reasonable. And when I say reasonable, I don't mean Target reasonable. Cus let's face it, target is cheap but awesome (a whole different problem of mine). Saks is more reasonable on a, I'm still gritting my teeth but not pulling my hair out level. I love my designer jeans. I love em. I will buy cheap Forever 21 tops, cus your closet is full of them. But jeans are a different story. The ratio of shirts to jeans in my closet is like, 300/20. So every few months I feel it necessary to introduce a new pair to the rest of the gang. This store makes doing so not a back breaking event. The prices are usually at LEAST 20% less than retail price and there are constant sales. Last month I bought a pair of Joe's for $70, originally $180, a pair of sevens for $120 originally $240 and a juicy couture dress for $40 originally $120. I mean, is that even negotiable? It almost doesn't seem real. The only thing that sucks about this store is that the prices are so good, you feel like you can't pass anything up. I'm a male and I like to carry a "man bag," and a lot of times it seems as if they're paying extra attention to me, not concerned about my shopping experience, but their overhead. If I want something, I buy it! Look closely at my bag Saks employees, it's a Hermes, or Louis Vuitton, if I want something, I buy it!!! Racism isn't dead. Especially as you head up North. And you don't have to go farther than the Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th in Petaluma. A sales associate told me that the price of a pair of boots I was trying on was a certain amount; when I went up the counter to pay for what I thought was a nice find, I was told that it was double the amount I was initially quoted. When I asked them to honor the quote, they proceeded to tell me that it was my fault for asking a sales associate for the price of the item when I could have just read their signs which where by the way were in places no one would easily see. The entire time I was talking to the manager, she never stopped looking me up and down as if she was trying to say I had no business being in the store to begin with. I've lived long enough to know what that look is: it is racism. No ifs or buts about it. I've known it all my life. I know racism. More disgusting than her take-or-leave-it, no apology attitude is that look of superiority that we non-white individuals suffer through all of our lives. Some of us don't experience it everyday or we get exposed to it ever so subtly; but I assure you, racism is alive and well. I stood in a really long line to purchase a jacket that had a 60% off sale sign above it mentioning the jacket's designer. When I reached the register, they only gave me 50% off - when I questioned it she called back to someone who yelled that the jacket's were 50% off. After I paid, I went to the back of the store to retreive the 60% of sign. I had to stand in another line (10 people deep) to get the other 10% off - cost me more in time but it was the principle of the thing read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I went in this evening to purchase a Valentino handbag I had seen there a few weeks ago. The higher end bags are locked to a shelf at this store, requiring an employee to assist you to make a purchase. This area is maybe ten feet from the cash registers. I made eye contact with two different employees who did not even offer to assist me. They just stared blankly at me and then looked away. I was always afraid to walk in but I am glad I finally did. Amazing sales and discounts on top of the already lower prices. The clearance rack was fun. Got a great TART tshirt for $6. They did not have my size of lucky brand boots so they ordered them for me and I got them at my home 5 days or so later for only $7.95. This place is a gem & well worth a visit, but I think the selection has gone down hill over the years. They used to stock amazing high end designers (Yamamoto, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Etro), but the it now seems to be catering to a more casual, mass-produced set. I have found some great gifts for my husband, a nice purse and some lovely gold earrings here. The staff was attentive without being overbearing and I did not have a problem finding someone to help when I needed assistance. This is an outlet and I did not expect to have to the same selection or store set up that I would have at the Village at Corte Madera Village Store. I also did not take it personally that expensive items were locked up or secured to the display. I understand that shoplifting is an issue. They try to protect their assets. Where to even begin... Let me start off by saying I have been a faithful Saks customer for years, and have spent too much money in that store to even think about. Until this point, I have been able to look past their employees' "holier than thou" attitudes because of the discounts. I will never spend another penny in that store again! I bought my husband 2 pairs of Joe's jeans during their black friday sale. I was hesitant knowing the 30 day return policy, but the saleswoman assured me I would have until January 15th to return or exchange. My husband didn't like one of the washes and the pair that he did like ripped within a few hours of him wearing them on Christmas day. The jeans literally fell apart. We took them back today (December 27th), with the original receipt, and I was told I could not return or even exchange them because the 30 days were up. I asked for a manager and finally got the ok on the exchange. However, they would NOT exchange the defective jeans because my husband had already taken the tags off! I was then told I couldn't exchange the jeans, they thad to refund my original purchase and I then had to buy back the new items INCLUDING the defective jeans! And the kicker, the manager wouldn't honor the original sale price. I should have been able to exchange 2 pairs of jeans for 2 of the same jeans. Instead, I had to return the original 2, buy back the defective pair, and pay for the new 2 at today's price (when one should have been honored at the original sale price). The manager also kept my original receipt so I cannot return to argue the price. Long story short, Saks has the WORST customer service. I don't even care about the amount of money I was overcharged today, just the principle of the entire ordeal. From now on I will only be shopping at Macy's and Nordstrom where customer service is still a thing employees are aware of. I will gladly pass up a bargain to be treated fairly. read more

Worst customer service experience I have ever received at a retail store! Tried to exchange a product outside of their "30 day policy" for something else and was treated TERRIBLY by manager Leah; by far the rudest dismissal I have ever received by a manager no less. In addition, the product was still for sale full price, I had the receipt and tags still attached to the product. Lesson learned, it is not worth the good deals to be treated like a criminal, and customer service is not something that they care about. Store manager was not willing to help the customers.Customer retention should be the key, I was trying to use a coupon which worked fine on fine jewelry, when we tried to use the coupon using a different card it didn't work on handbags. I used this promotion over 100 times and never had any problem. When i tried to explain the same to store manager she was trying to prove me wrong using a fine print which says it excludes fine jewelry and handbags. Irony is i used the same promotion got the discount for fine jewelry. Hope she gets thorough with all the promotions first. read more
