We have been here a few times and not been overly impressed but the sushi was good. Tried it again today and it was awful...ot was like they dumped vinegar in everything, including the soy sauce. Between the 3 in my party we only managed to eat 5 plates each and even that was mostly fried rice, rangoon and spring rolls. I went for the lunch buffet thinking $15 actually bought me my choice of items from their conveyer style service. At the end of the meal I had two bites of their ghastly Nom Nom appetizer left. The rice was undercooked and the canned "fish" was a consistency of something I won't repeat here. They proceeded to charge .50 cents per bite above the $15 I agreed to pay for the buffet. Let's do some simple math for the owner who made this idiotic policy. Me never coming back = a loss of potential income equal to a minimum of $15. You not charging me .50 cents per bite means you...have to throw out my food that surely was destined for the trash anyway...right? Good luck. read more

I went for the first time with my friend and her mom for lunch, I got to say I was pretty impressed with how much $12 can get you. I was able to enjoy the sushi train and also the menu that comes along with it so while you wait for wait for a plate that needs to be made, you can grab food that is on the conveyor. Service was great and I love that there is also dessert included. My favorite was the pork belly plate, really recommended. Overall the food was pretty good, some of the rolls where average nothing worth wild but hey it's $12 bucks all you can eat sushi that is on the train so I can't get picky. The only dish I was disappointed on were the edamame (bland) and the ramen (I've had 30cent ramen from the bag that has tasted better) other than that enjoyed my experience and will be coming back read more

Terrible service. Just terrible. I came with my girlfriend and I wasn't eating the buffet. I took a bit from one of her plates just to taste it and a server came over and very sternly stated that they will be charging me full price for the buffett because they have been "watching me." Will not return to this establishment. They advertise all you can eat, pay 1 price, request items at most 2 at a time and reminded to eat all of it. The food is brought to you per request. There's a .50 charge per item left on the plate. I didn't like one of the rolls I tried, didn't finish it, got the charge. RIDICULOUS. I could hear the Asians yelling at the servers in the kitchen. People were seated at the Hibachi stove when I walked in, 30 min later the cook showed up. The food was average, guessing lots of sodium, was PARCHED all night after eating there. Servers moved quick, were friendly, should be able to find jobs elsewhere when this place closes. Never saw a business CHARGE for leaving food, especially when it's mostly rice. read more

Went here on super bowl Sunday for lunch and it wasn't busy. The waitress showed us around and told us what everything was since we've never been there before. They have hot pot, train sushi and hibachi. Me and my boyfriend got hibachi, the appetizer and the food came to us quickly. I enjoyed the salmon nigiri the salmon was fresh. However the salad dressing didn't taste like the normal salad dressing you usually get at hibachi restaurants. We got just the steak and fried rice which was really good. But they charge you 2$ more for fried rice (which I felt that the waitress should've gave us a heads up). Also the restaurant needs a bigger sign to show where they are because there is a bigger building directly in front of it covering the restaurant. read more

I am writing this review after eating there for the first time with my 2 children who are in college at Texas State and there 2 friends who also are college students. Let me say first it was a special occasion and I had planned the outing to get to know there fiances better. It was a dpecial day for us. I found them thru a current ad (Spring 2017)in my sons TX State University booklet that said all you can eat sushi train $12.99. The food was pretty good although not all items listed were on the train you had to request them. Upon checking out they charged us 14.99 plus tax and wrote in there own tax and did not give us a receipt. They werent giving anyone who checked out a receipt and include the tip mandatory for everyone at there own decided upon amount. It was very sketchy ive never been to a resturant that bills you in this way. When I showed them the current ad they said it was old and would not honor it. It was 38.99 for 2 people Ill never go back and never recommend these people arent honest read more

My first review on yelp. I have really wanted to like this place. Was one of their first customers and have been here at least a dozen times hoping it will improve but never does. I have had a lot of bad experiences. I ordered a flaming sea bass roll for example. At first the flavor seemed odd, but not until after several pieces in I realized that's because it was resting in rubbing alcohol that was used to create the "flame" when they first walked out with it. It didn't all burn. And they still charged me for it after complaining and leaving with a stomach ache! Wasn't happy that day. But for some reason I still came back. Well, the reason is because they are one of the few games in town and I'd like it to work out. I had their big sashimi boat another time. Pieces are small and not properly done. Overpriced. I spent around $100. Should have just gone into Austin to Uchi for what I paid. They don't understand what sashimi or sushi is and how to do it right. Small pieces, not cut right, low quality fish, no understanding of sauces and flavor pairing. The lobster tail was not cooked right, very rubbery. Green tea is low quality bagged stuff. They leave the bag in too, so after first cup it will turn bitter. Have they not bothered to Google the proper steep time? The sushi section of HEB has much better quality stuff for a fraction of the price. If you want quality Japanese for a dinner date that's worth the money, don't come here. For the money, much better places in Austin, Buda, etc The only reason I keep coming back is for the sushi train. The all you can eat is a good deal. Until today that is. The sushi train is cute if you've never seen one, but it's also a hassle because you'll need 1-2hrs to eat. Not many people in the restaurant so not much on the train. I am there for sushi, actual fish, not all this fried crap they fill the train with to try and get you to eat cheap and fill up. It feels like a contest of wills. I'm sitting there waiting for fish. And I know they know because the waitress has asked me how I'm doing four times and I've told her. It's like they hope I'll get bored and give in, eat their egg roll instead of the sushi I'm waiting for. I refuse. Finally, some sushi. Wow, did they cut the fish with a razor blade? That must be why it took so long. I didn't know fish could be cut that thin. Their sushi train isn't a sushi train, it's an egg roll and fried rice train. And who fries gyoza? Seriously. I know we're in Texas but geez. This isn't gyoza. Could you fry it half as long, perhaps, so it's chewable? I've played this game 8 or 10 times now, so I know it wasn't just an off day. I've been there several times even when nearly every seat was filled, and still, where, seriously, is the sushi on this sushi train? The only way to get it is to wait a long time and pester the staff, which just isn't fun. But even then it's just the same stuff over and over, which defeats the whole point of a train. And then today I go to check out and the bill is $55. Huh? Why? Oh, because we aren't doing the "all you can eat" right now. What? Why didn't you tell me that when I sat down? You mean I spent 2hrs waiting on crappy sushi rolls sliced with a razor, and stuff I wouldn't have chosen off the menu if I had options, and then got charged dinner prices for them? Broken down per piece I paid around $1-2 per little roll piece. If I had known that I would have sat at a table and ordered what I wanted instead of whatever you begrudgingly sent out to me. I could have grabbed sushi at HEB and eaten in 30 min at my desk for way less, and better food. I'm done with this place. If you come at what is currently odd hours and do the all you can eat, it could be worth it for you. Make sure you get there at the beginning though, because if the happy hour ends while you're eating, they charge you dinner rate. Yep that also happened to me on another day. You think it's all you can eat at 4pm? Wrong. Because you won't get your food before 5, unless you settle for egg rolls instead of sushi. And when it goes down the staff is rude and doesn't care about the customer. They just want their money and will argue with you. I may try again later, but don't plan to be back for a while. It was very loose and often fell apart. -The selection of rolls was pretty underwhelming - lots of similar ones. -Almost EVERY roll had a healthy heaping of "crab mix" AKA cheap filler. This place is amazing. I love how they have the assembly line of food that keeps coming around when you order the buffet option. The spicy tuna was a bit bland but the spicy mustard sauce made it great. Everything that I tried was good and the staff is very friendly as well. Our server (Tiffany) was great. I dropped in for the sushi train for lunch today at 12:30. Unfortunately I must have dropped in at the wrong time since the train was fairly empty for the first 30 minutes I was there. I got a few pictures dishes off the train and had the servers bring them out to me. They were ok, but not worth coming back for. The rainbow roll was smothered in mayo and when I told them I didn't like it, I was told that's just the way it is and it was my fault for not letting the server know I didn't like mayo.
