Trap buffet restaurant. What do you think $50 / person and you get this

Have you ever thought to yourself: I wish the people that made Happy Lamb opened a Sakura trap restaurant! If you pay for diamonds dinner and ask for sushi , remember to have some extra money to pay for wasabi and ginger

This is not the best sushi in the world. But I have always found the AYCE lunch special to be about the best combination of a good variety of fresh, well prepared sushi along with cooked items ordered separately that I've found, especially for the price--$16.95 as of January 2025. And it's fun to take your chances on which rolls might come as long on the conveyor belt, or order specific things you want from the menu. Or both! I always order the Crab Balls and Gyoza, yo be sure they are super fresh and hot, then hang out and see what appears on the conveyor belt. And since it's all included, no need to keep track of plates and prices to avoid sticker shock. There are a few premium items that are priced a la carte, but they are clearly marked, and I've never felt the need. I don't live in San Marcos and have only been to Sakura for the occasional lunch, but I think it would have a fun vibe at night, with all the neon and probably more groups doing hot pot. I joked with the server about the sign requesting customers to limit dining time to "90 minuets." I looked it up and the average length of a minuet is about four minutes. She laughed and said as far as she knows no one had ever tried to pull that off!

Great Ambience! Delicious Eatz! Beautiful Decor & Wonderful wait staff! I would definitely recommend this sweet sushi spot

Service was ok, but for the price this place is not worth it at all. Front entrance smells like urine, floors are sticky, and most of revolving sushi selections include mayo in the roll. The edamame tastes half frozen and miso is insanely salty. Wonton soup tastes like someone poured a carton of heb beef broth in a pot and threw in frozen dumplings. Wouldn't recommend at all.

    Rock hard dot of wasabi.

What happened here? Was looking forward to having the all you can eat sushi conveyor belt experience and it was awful. First, we get seated at the tail end of where the belt brings the sushi plates around so there was nothing left by the time it got to us. The items we ordered off the menu took forever to get brought to our table or was delivered to another table. We asked for wasabi and ginger to use with our sushi. One dot of wasabi was ROCK HARD in the little tin it was delivered in. Looked more like a dippin' dot. How long does it even take for wasabi to go from a soft glob to a hard rock? Days?!?! SHAMEFUL. Our server(hopefully was brand new) was sweet but clueless on how to wait tables. Can't be too hard, it's a buffet type set up. Guess the exterior of the free standing restaurant should have been a warning of what was waiting for us on the inside. Weeds and unkept lawn with cheap fencing around the perimeter. It will be a long time before we return here, if at all.

What's not to love about a place that offers sushi, hot pot and Korean BBQ all at once? My wife ate at Sakura with her work friends and she could not stop raving about it, so I told her she and I needed to go on a date night. In only a few minutes I was blown away! We both selected the 'Diamond' all-you-can-eat option which seems a little steep at $42.95 per person. However, once you realize everything you can choose from it is well worth it, especially if you're very hungry and/or a big eater like myself. My wife had joined their rewards/loyalty program so she was offered a free drink up to $8. She's not big drinker so she let me order a beer. I got an ice cold Kirin on draft. We started with some sushi from the conveyer which was fun. I've never been to a restaurant with a sushi conveyer belt before. I had only heard about them and always wanted to try it. We also ordered a LOT of sashimi which came out very quickly and was great quality fish served at the perfect temperature. We ordered a couple of other small appetizer dishes that were okay but got overshadowed by the Korean BBQ and hot pot. The spicy pork belly was tremendous. We also got galbi, baby octopus and lamb for the Korean BBQ. They were all great but the spicy pork belly stole the show. We ordered the spicy hot pot broth and made our selections from the self-serve 'green bar'. I was surprised at the vast selection. They have all kinds of vegetables and many types of mushrooms to choose from, as well as meat, seafood and even quail eggs. I think I ate about 10 quail eggs! Service was excellent. Very friendly and fast. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. Somewhat modern and very clean. We left incredibly stuffed and very satisfied. This is a restaurant I would definitely like to go to again.

By far this is the best calamari we've eaten (and we test it at every Asian restaurant). Large selection of rolls and ala carte sushi and sashimi- we filled up before the yakisoba came out. Huge serving of chicken was served with the noodles, which were prepared to order with chili paste to make them perfectly extra spicy. Unlike many restaurants, soup and salad were served with the yakisoba entree and overall this made the meal a good value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised to have leftovers and a reasonable bill. The dining room is large and nicely decorated. Servers were attentive and friendly. Thomas was our main server and he took great care of us. We did not sit at a hibachi table but could see them nearby and it's quite a show. We will return and try that another evening. Highly recommend!

We did a google search and this place was about 15 minutes away so we went on a Friday night before our movie. We got there at 6pm and got sat right away which was awesome. The place was huge and clean. The servers were super nice. My sister and I ordered one plate and shred it while my husband got his own. We ordered the soft shell crab but was disappointed which is why it was only 4 stars. It was so heavily battered that we couldn't even taste the crab itself. I'd say to do a light batter for this before frying. The best part of a soft shell crab is the taste of the crab not the batter. But all in all I'd come back!

We had sashimi, rolls, appetizers and a bottle of sake. I've frequented many sushi restaurants all over the country for years and this restaurant absolutely delivers. Incredibly fresh fish! Meticulously well prepared and delicious. Wow! So very happy we discovered this place. We arrived early about 3:30pm, so the restaurant was quiet with a few patrons. The restaurant feels romantic with dim lighting and good music. Kudos to the Chef!! Great food. Thank you so much. It was money well spent. Cheers!

I was immediately annoyed because the music was very loud to me. That could have been due to the empty restaurant, the actual volume or my perception of the volume lol. I was really hoping for a more intimate vibe for conversation. The speakeasy lounge actually looked more like the vibe that I desired but I settled in and placed my order. I wanted some of the showier selections seen on IG, so I ordered the tuna tower and flaming Romeo & Juliet roll and a cute (albeit sweet) cocktail that came in a goldfish shaped glass. When the tuna tower arrived the young server asked me something several times which I couldn't hear over the music, so I just nodded. After she smashed the tuna tower, I figured out she was asking if I wanted it mixed. Lol my bad! I actually did not want it mixed but it was delicious anyway. The Romeo and Juliet roll took forever to stop flaming but once it died down, it was absolutely delicious. My partner enjoyed his roll as well and they gave him a complimentary birthday desert with sparklers. Overall I give service a 3. I would have liked a more professional presentation of the menu, hyping it up a bit. And a less soft spoken server. The food was a solid 5, everything was fresh and scrumptious. Overall I give Uni'ko 4 stars and I look forward to returning. I thought it was a good value given the extra razzle dazzle and food quality.

I was also craving some poke, so was happy to see it on the menu. Location wise, Don is super close to the TSU campus, just off N LBJ Dr. It's located within a small square, along with several other small shops (tattoo shop, hair studio). Outdoors - good amount of free parking available via the attached lot; indoors - order at the counter, then find a seat at one of the long tables. There's also complimentary fortune cookies at the self-service counter. All the food comes in to-go boxes. Salmon Poke ($13.50, 4/5) - The salmon was tasty but could've done with a little less salt - Generous portions. Also really liked the addition of ginger and seaweed salad to the dish - Highlights were the different mayo sauces (curry, wasabi, spicy) - my favorite was the wasabi! Overall, Don is a straightforward, no frills spot with good energy and customer service. Food was good and very filling as well. I'd recommend checking out Don if you're looking for an affordable, asian fusion option near campus!
