#5 Soy Glazed Chicken Avocado Bowl
Stephanie T.

Good was tasty and tasted fresh. Presentation was great as well as service and cleanliness of the restaurant. The prices are reasonable as well. I had the soy glazed chicken avocado bowl and I really enjoyed it, but I'd like to try other menu items and reconsider my rating. Although the food was delicious, I feel like it's missing pizazz.

A great spot to build your own or pick as is korean fusion bowl or burrito. I was fairly surprised they went away from korean Mexican tacos that was a must have for their food trucks, but Texas has way too many taco restaurants anyway. I got the chilantro bibimbap, keeping it as it is on the menu with everything on it. Great option, if you want to try an original korean style bowl with bulgogi and lots of veggies. Oh! Don't forget the fried egg to mash into the bowl. Not only that, don't forget to spoil yourself with some semi healthy, loaded kimchi fries. This is definitely a must have! There's ample parking as it is in a shopping complex with lots of other businesses. They build your bowl as you're in line kind of like chipotle. The loaded kimchi fries take a bit to make depending on how busy it is.

To be honest, it is not worth the hype. I was excited about a new Asian spot opening in San Marcos, but it was more fusion than anything. The flavors are for the white palate. I got the Spicy Pork and the Japchae which already did not taste authentic at all. Paired with the sides they have, it tasted disappointingly American. The flavors were mediocre and everything felt pretty oily. I was confused by the cuisine Chi' Lantro was trying to be. Overall, I would not come here again. This felt as Asian as K-Bop (not Asian).

The food is so flavorful. Every bite is fresh and delicious. If I lived near here I'd visit at least once a week. The fried chicken had a wonderful sauce yet was still crispy. They're little wings so they sell them by the pound. The fries were dressed well and the bulgogi was so tender. They don't just throw the food together. They make sure what they're sending out is up to standard. The staff were all very friendly and appeared to enjoy being there. I can't wait to go back.

Delicious, fast, and friendly service! I wish this was closer to me! The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is new, light, and modern. Definitely recommend checking this restaurant out! My favorite was the bibimbap and their classic kimchi fries.

Very generous portions and generous amounts of kimchi. The food was fresh and delicious but also was good warmed up the next day.

The first time I had Chi'Lantro I was at a work event and they had their food truck there. It was love at first bites I have been obsessed ever since. I've been going to the San Marcos location for a while and the service is always top tier. The restaurant is very clean and basic. It is usually pretty quiet. One important thing to know is the store is cashless. I usually order through the app and I love their rewards program and birthday rewards so signing up for their rewards is a must. The food is a little pricy for fast food but it is really good. My favorite drink is the Basil Peach lemonade. I like to switch up the meals. I love the Kimchi fries, the fried wings and sometimes I will do a build your own bowl. Give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Looking for some Korean Fried Chicken brought us to Chi Lantro. Nice and clean, brightly lit place. Menu displayed up high above the order counter. Decided to try the kimchi fries, Korean fried chicken wings, Korean style esquites (Mexican street corn), and b'bibap bowl. The b'bibap bowl was the best of the three, fresh and appetizing, but honestly, we've had better. The esquites were tasty, served with tortilla chips, but cold, which is how we assumed they are normally served, but we think it would have been better warm. The kimchi fries were our least fav. Fries were lukewarm and the flavor was spicy but nothing special. We love kimchi and buy it often as a condiment for lots of things at home, so we were not new to kimchi. The wings were the second best thing. They were good, but again, we've had better. Kimchi Box has amazing wings, our current bar. Service was pretty good, manager came to check on us, very nice. We didn't mention the lukewarm fries because we didn't really want a replacement. The drinks are unique here and appear to be included in food orders. The peach basil lemonade was pretty good. I really wanted to love this place, but just ok.

Food was absolutely delicious! I got the bowl with Japchae noodles, spicy chicken(very flavorful), fried egg, caramelized kimchi, grilled veggies, lettuce, onions, korean esquites(which was alright), shredded cheese, chi'jeu queso, magic sauce, and red pepper flakes. Idk if it was the queso or the magic sauce but whatever sauce it was it was delicious!! I was nervous all the toppings I was getting wasnt going to taste good with the Japchae noodles but it was so good. Definitely coming back!! Shout out to my roommate for buying me a bowl

K'pop chicken bowl

First time here and the staff were super nice and helpful! We came after 1 o'clock and the place was pretty empty, it was quiet and clean. We picked the K'pop chicken bowl, veggie dumplings, and 1/2 pound of wings. The portions were great and super flavorful. Definitely will have to come back. Wish there was one in San Antonio!

Literally put 3 pieces of beef in my large wrap then charged me $15. 90% of my wrap was rice. If you're looking to be fed go somewhere else.

We wanted to try a little bit of almost Everything and that's exactly what we did. For sides we got, potato salad, mashed potatoes, creamed corn and macaroni. For meats we got, brisket (fatty pieces preferred) turkey, Jalapeño cheddar sausage and ribs. Everything was stellar, but the star of the show was the brisket! Probably some of the best brisket I've had in a long time. The bark was perfect and the fat had such a nice juicy flavor filled bite. Everything honestly was top notch so we were very pleased with our spread. Can't wait until they open the location in San Antonio.

Staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which honestly deserves 5 stars by itself. Unfortunately, you can't earn 5 stars just on atmosphere points. I ordered 1 lb of lean brisket, and "lean" apparently translated to "dehydrated museum artifact." Dry enough that I'm pretty sure it absorbed moisture from the table. We actually ended up tossing most of it, which physically hurts me to say about Texas BBQ. The mac and cheese? I mean this respectfully... maybe let that item retire with dignity. Before everyone grabs their pitchforks, the Baby Back Ribs were REALLY good. Tender, flavorful, and absolutely part of the meal. The cream corn was solid too. And then there was the potato salad... whoever made that deserves a raise. Dill flavor, red skin potatoes, little carrot pieces, dill pickle tang and easily one of the best potato salads I've had anywhere. I normally take two bites of potato salad out of obligation. This one I kept going back for like it owed me money.

We got there Thursday a little after 4pm opening in a downpour so there wasn't a line. The day's special--written on a white board--was an alligator po boy and Mr R had never had alligator so that was easy. For myself I chose the soulful catfish bites from the menu at the window (he posts the week's menu on FB, although I didn't see sides mentioned). As sides I chose sweet potato fries and okra, for dessert the blueberry cobbler. One lemonade and one sweet tea. Lord, it was tasty. The gator po boy had a soft white sub roll, untoasted, with iceberg, pickles and tomatoes. The gator chunks were about 1.5 to 2x the size of chicken nuggets, with a perfect crunchy coating and not greasy. The meat was not dry, the flavor was good. The catfish bites were a little smaller than the gator chunks, and with the most perfectly seasoned, crisp, ungreasy, cornmeal coating. The fish was cooked perfectly and couldn't have been hotter/fresher out of the kitchen. The sweet potato fries were lightly salted, cooked expertly and came in a generous pile. The okra came in a light batter and tasted so fresh and green--Mr R fell in love with them (he'd only had okra boiled/wet before), but also blasphemed them with ketchup because he's a terrible person. Each plate came with ketchup, tartar sauce (more like mayo, really), and hot sauce. Two packets of each condiment for each plate which was more than we used. The cobbler. OH! The cobbler. He'd upsized it as a kindness for us, and I still don't know how exactly he made the sugary crunchy cobbler bits as half of them *still* had powerful crunch this morning after sitting overnight. The blueberry part was lovely jammy sticky but not over sweet. It was a wonderful dessert yesterday and a fabulous breakfast this morning. My single point of retraction? The now-moved-on LeStourgeon had the superior po boy set up (in my nascent opinion) with toasty bread and more produce to include romaine, onion and avocado plus a schmear of mayo. That's it, outside of that this meal was perfection. It's not cheap, the wait's never been excessive, it is WORTH it. Forgot to mention he also had a table/chairs set up under a tent which is a nice alternative to eating in your car if you can't wait to get home with good food.

This is a fast casual spot -- you order at the counter, they give you a ticket, and call your name when it's ready. No tip required, and service was really kind. The owner was there and was super nice as well. Seating is pretty unique: two long wooden benches, so you might end up sitting close to other diners, but it makes for a lively, friendly environment. They also have three unique sauces worth calling out: a spicy mayo (pretty standard, but rich and delicious), a curry mayo (strong curry flavor in every bite -- not for everyone, but I loved it), and a wasabi mayo (never had this before, and it was honestly great -- strong wasabi flavor that paired really well with my dish). Chicken Teriyaki Bento ($10.50, 7/10) -Comes with a side of rice and ginger, both of which paired really well with the wasabi mayo -Portion size was relatively large -- left me full, but really only enough for one person -Topped with a crunchy garlic/panko crunch that paired nicely with the chicken -Teriyaki sauce on top was a little too salty; would've been better with less salt -They give you a water bottle on the side, which was much appreciated since everything ran on the salty side Overall, a great fast casual spot to hang out with friends and get good food at a good price. Really enjoyed their three sauces -- the mayo, wasabi, and curry were all unique, and I haven't seen that combo anywhere else. Great to see that adventurous side.
