The wait wasn't bad and our waitress was very kind and attentive, but unfortunately the experience went downhill once the chef started cooking. He became rude and unprofessional after being asked about steamed rice, even yelling at the waitress in front of customers. The cooking process was also very concerning. Raw chicken was placed next to vegetables, shrimp and steak were cooked together on the same grill, and the same utensils were used for everything without being changed. Food was heavily cross-contaminated, and leftover meat scraps were scraped into the vegetables before serving. To make matters worse, our party was charged two separate 18% gratuity fees because we split the checks, which made no sense to us. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not what we expected from a hibachi restaurant. read more

I been here three times and have enjoyed them all. The first time we sat in the Hibachi area. The show is great, very interactive, the chef even gave birthday people Sake shots. The other two times, I've had the sushi All You Can Eat. I like that Nigiri is part of the all you can eat, there are some fish that are reserved for Dinner only, so check the menu before visiting. There is also a limit of three orders of Nigiri per person. The menu also includes soups, salads, fried appetizers like potstickers, Teriyaki, and sushi rolls. It's great for people who want a variety. You get a menu and a marker and make your selections, the staff brings your food. You can get more menus and keep ordering till your hearts content. We walked in at 12:15 & the dining area was already pretty full. The booths were all taken. So, we settled for a table in the corner. We aren't a fan of hard chairs so a comfy booth would've been nice. Lesson learned! Next time we go earlier. Steven was an excellent server! He brought us everything we needed & more! Skip breakfast & do the unlimited sushi for lunch. It's fantastic! The Double J roll is my favorite. It is sinfully delicious. It's a deep friend roll filled with cream cheese, crabmeat & avocado! Then it's drizzled w teriyaki & yum yum sauce. You can get the sauces on the side also. The harumaki & Gyoza are excellent also. The Shaggy Dog sushi roll is great too! You only get the Rangoons on the dinner menu. That was our only complaint. Very disappointing. We survived though Ask for Steven. He really was a fantastic server w a great personality! We used to love this place. The fish/food quality was always top notch's we've come here for special occasions to enjoy the Tepanyaki experience, as well as the sushi bar or "all you can eat" sushi. This visit we came for "All You Can Eat" sushi, and noticed there was a "limit" listed under the nigiri section of the menu. It stated a "maximum of 3 per person." To clarify, I asked our server whether the "3" piece limit was per ordering round or for the "entire duration" of your ordering. The server was explained that it was for the entirety of our experience, but assured me that I would be getting "6" total pieces of nigiri, as each order consisted of two pieces (customary at every sushi restaurant I've ever been to). When the nigiri sushi arrived, I was shocked at their small size. Each piece was literally "HALF" the size of a non "all you can eat" order of nigiri. This means that I was actually receiving 1.5 total orders of nigiri, since I ordered 3 pieces of all you can eat. This feels so much like a "TRUTH IN MENU ISSUE." I would have appreciate being told about the size difference. A regular order of the nigiri I ordered would have been $5, so the total amount for the all you can eat (1.5 orders) would have had a $7.50 value. Anyway, this is a "bait and switch" for me, and we will definitely not be coming back to this restaurant. All businesses, including mine, experienced set backs after the pandemic; however, it's sad that the pandemic has taken a toll on many businesses' integrity for the products and services they sell. read more

Fried Rice - Average, not the greatest, lacks real flavor but it's not the worst thing I've ever had. 5/10 Austin Roll- A good roll, just tastes sorta plain. Spider Roll- Really like this roll, reminded me of a California but with more pizzaz! Double J- Kinda disappointed by this roll man, it's not bad, but I taste the breading more than anything. The roll is good, it just lacks anything that would make me want to get it again. Hurricane Roll- Honestly, this was the best of the bunch! I wish it had a a TOUCH more sweetness to cut the spiciness a little more, BUT I also think that's just my pallet! My lady loved this roll so much! I went here during lunchtime so I didn't experience the entire all you can eat sushi menu. I will say that there was still a good selection though. I enjoyed my sushi but some of it tasted salty to me. I'm not sure if it's the rice vinegar they use or if my soy sauce really wasn't low sodium as it was labeled. However the fish itself tasted great. The service was good too. On the other half of the restaurant are hibachi grills. I was craving some hibachi fried rice and for some reason never really noticed this place. When we walked in the hostess asked if we wanted hibachi or regular table service. Initially, I asked for hibachi and was told it would be an hour wait. And then asked about the regular table service as I didn't necessarily care to sit at the hibachi table. I just wanted the food and was told that I could order anything off of the hibachi menu at the regular table. It is just cooked in the kitchen. So we were seated right away at a table in the main part of the restaurant. Our server was Cindy, and I have to say she was very good and very polite. She offered us drinks and appetizers and returned very quickly with the drinks which were very good. She took the time to explain their menus, which there are three of and let us know what the best value was for what we liked. The food was so good the service great and the drinks delicious! We didn't miss sitting at the Hibachi tables at all, from where we were sitting we could hear them yelling loudly so I could only imagine how loud it was at the table... and we didn't have to be squished together at the table. Walked in right before 6p and were seated immediately as we decided not to go with the hibachi. Was ready to eat instead of watching someone play with my food in front of me. It was pretty empty and quiet in the restaurant. As a little time passed it picked up as patrons arrived for "dinner rush"; but they all seemed to be headed to the hibachi side of the restaurant. We started with the Kobe Sampler for the appetizer which included, 2 pc gyoza, 3 tempura shrimp, and 2 crab rangoon. Not bad all were as expected. For dinner we order the steak & chicken hibachi w/ fried rice and the tuna steak w/ fried rice. For some reason with his behavior I was feeling a bit rushed by our server. Food came out fast but he was coming by frequently asking if we were done or ready to take plates away. We were seated at around 5:50p and was walking out by 6:40p so draw your own conclusion. i went today. I ordered the ny steak and chicken. the steak was so rare the it was too tough to eat. we told the waiter and he said it's fine it is still edible. The chicken was paper thin and not proportionate to the breading. the rice had zero vegetables or egg. it tasted like brown jasmine rice with sesame seed oil. The shrimp had zero seasoning and looked like buy frozen shrimp from Walmart. overall a total dis. Food is always amazing. But the hostess's put a NASTY taste in my mouth before even eating the food. Way too young and immature to be the first faces we see coming in. They all have an attitude that shows how young they are. All except the tall beautiful one who was polite the whole time. I'm not a fan of Benihana, the meat is tough, the scallops are rubbery, and the portions aren't exactly worthy of the price they're charging. Holy cow, here they fill up the plate! I ordered filet mignon w/scallops. . It was heavenly. Cooked to perfection! I didn't order shrimp but it was still given to me, and it was bomb! A perfect birthday meal with lots of leftovers lol We also ordered some tempura shrimp appetizers, and the tempura cheesecake!!!! ah, delicious! PRICES: 12/10 AFFORDABLE! My friend and I go to Kobe a few times a month. The food and service is always amazing. However, today, the treatment from the manager was absolutely unacceptable! We paid separately, placing both our cards with our bills in the payment books. I could tell something was wrong because my waitress and other servers were looking around for something. The waitress came back after about 10 minutes and said she could not find my friends' card. My friend said she would not leave until it was it found. Everyone continued to look for it-us included...looking on the floors, under the tables, behind counters and booths, etc. No luck. My friend asked to speak to the manager after another 5-10 minutes of everyone searching. When the manager(Tony) came over, he said nothing even though he was made aware of the situation. My friend said it was her card they were looking for and that she froze it on her bank account and would leave her name and number in case they found it. She told the waitress accidents happen and was very understanding despite the fact that losing a debit card and having to cancel it is a major pain and hassle. The manager offered no apology and then had the audacity to ask how she would be paying for the meal!!! She said she could not pay for her meal without the card that they lost. The fact that we had to seek him out about the problem in the first place was issue #1. To offer no apology was issue #2. Then to ask about payment on the less than 30 dollar meal was just beyond comprehension. It literally costs them nothing to comp a meal-especially when it's their screw up. Food is always good and the chefs are always fun. However, Kobe will cram as many people as possible into a table, to the point where it is uncomfortable. Tonight I was seated behind the chef's back, in front of the food cart. You should not do this. The experience is meant to be an important part of the meal and in these cases that is ruined. This restaurant is not cheap and always has a long wait. Families look forward to the experience then receive this. Don't know that we'll be back. Food is good so kind of a shame. read more

One of the worst hibachi s live had to date. Strong words but I truly mean them. I'll start with the positives. The rest looked clean, we didn't have to wait o be seated at the hibachi table very long, and the waitress was courteous in addressing all of my concerns. The cons- we started with Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. It wasn't on the menu but I had seen other Yelp photos of it and asked the waitress if they had some. She replied they did and brought it out. It was a very minimal amount of the actual filling inside of the wrapper. The dipping sauce that accompanied it was probably the worst I've ever had. It wasn't sweet at all, tasted like it was watered down, and was just very bland in flavor overall. I ordered the dinner salmon as my entrée with fried rice. The rice was flavorless and you had to add the dipping sauces to eat it and give it flavor. The chef did not do a good job of mixing all of the ingredients, so there were still some white rice pieces that didn't get the soy sauce or any seasonings like the rest of the rice and others just simply still in clumps. The veggies were ok. And now the salmon. He tried to serve me 1.5 fillets of salmon. I stopped the waitress and asked how many come with the dinner portion and she stated two. I pointed to the grill to show her he was only cooking 1.5 fillets. She apologized and brought another HALF out of the kitchen. So had I not brought it up, they were just going to charge me the full price and not serve me my full serving of salmon. The salmon the I worked so hard to commandeer was flavorless also. The chef was just not good at seasoning!! I'm used to wanting to devour my rice before they're done with the meat because it tastes so good! Well NOT at this place!! Brought my mom here for lunch today and we were not disappointed! 1604 is growing rapidly (especially this NE side) and this corner of the highway is really starting to see that growth. Not sure how long Kobe has been here (a lot of restaurants have come and gone at this location), but we're so happy it's here! Quite a few cars in the parking lot when we arrived but not overly crowded. We came in and asked to be seated in the hibachi area. We sat in the waiting area while they prepared the hibachi station. It was lunch time, so it was pretty empty. After ordering food and drinks, our waitress, Crystal, said there would be a 15 minute wait before the chef came out to cook. Since it was just us, they wanted to give time for other parties showed up. Lunch is a bit different from dinner so not all entrees are available. This was perfectly fine because what we wanted was on both menus. She ordered the terriyaki chicken and shrimp and I ordered the NY strip and chicken. 15 minutes later, the chef came out to cook and other parties started showing up in the hibachi area. Can't ever go wrong with hibachi! My mom did mention that she didn't get much shrimp with her meal, but wasn't too disappointed since it seems as many places are changing their portion sizes. Even with that being said, we had enough food to take home and eat for dinner, so still plenty to be enjoyed. It was still a great meal with amazing and attentive customer service. They are always friendly when you enter the restaurant is clean. They are pretty fast for lunch but a little slow at dinner on service. But knowing all that, I definitely enjoy Kobe. Lovely location, cool aesthetic, pretty decent food. The hibachi is really fun. The reservation process isn't very smooth. They're very strict about reservations and the whole party being on time or within 10 minutes of the reservation time. I came for a friend's birthday, and another friend called to reserve hibachi for 12. They reminded her of the reservation policy various times. So we were on time for our reservation (actually a few minutes early) and they repeatedly asked us how many were in the party. "9," we said, because 3 people couldn't attend. We were asked this many, many times. Even then, the hibachi did not have enough chairs for 9 people. My other friend was wedged on the side of the table, not even in a proper seating placement. We had enough people to fill an entire hibachi area, but they put a divider up to seat two other people outside of our party. When someone asked if we could have more room, the staff insisted that they needed to seat these two people who were walk-ins. We were confused because we literally had a reservation for 12 people, and they barely had room for 9 people. They weren't even prepared for LESS people. What is the point of making a reservation and following the reservation guidelines when they weren't even ready for our party? That area wasn't even seated when we arrived (I walked past an empty hibachi area when I went to the restroom). The birthday girl spoke to the manager afterwards and he was very rude, saying that we should've told him BEFORE. The thing is, we told various staff members that there were 9 people in our party (which is less than we reserved for), and that there weren't enough chairs. Thankfully they gave our friend who was wedged in 20% off. He was very sure to remind us that he would take off only from her meal. Maybe spruce up your reservation process? Went on a recommendation of a friend. It was easy to find and tons of parking. They seemed unorganized at the front desk and I felt like I left smelling like the hibachi grills. We went for the all you can eat sushi and the price was great! $15.99 for lunch until 3pm. The rolls were good and seemed fresh but they served three of us on two plates and we didn't know who's rolls were whose! Miso soup was good. The Goya was good as well. Not complaints on the food. But the service was slower. At one point the sushi chef just brought out our second orders of rolls. I will go back if there's an occasion but I don't think I'll make the drive out to Live Oak just because. The food wasn't any better or worse than other all you can eat sushi restaurants. If I lived close by I would probably go back. But it was a drive for me to visit. read more
