I came here for some quick hibachi and didn't feel like going to my usual spot in the mall. This place is located in a shopping center so there is ample parking and you may be able to get a few other errands accomplished. When I came in it was empty and there was initially no one behind the counter/ register. After placing my order I needed to ask for a key to use the restroom. I guess they have an issue with non-customers trying to use the restroom. I ordered shrimp tempura sushi rolls along with chicken and shrimp hibachi. All of it was underwhelming. My sushi roll barely had any shrimp and the chicken and shrimp hibachi left more to be desired. Despite the convenience I would probably still go out my way to my regular location for quick hibachi. Instead of offering a solution, the manager rudely yelled that it was my fault bc the "food is fine". On top of that, she insulted my intelligence (verbatim she said "can you not read) and hung up on me. Then when I called back they processed to answer and hang up. That's not how you do business. I've supported them for years and never again. There were so many simple solutions to fix the issue, yet they chose to disregard and belittle. Again, dont go here. I've gotten various teriyaki and hibachi meals from here and they've always been prepared well. The meat is flavorful and make sure you use the yum yum sauce. The cheeseburger spring rolls are mini, I wish they were full size. the crabmeat rangoons are good but they don't have the sweet and sour sauce for it. I've ordered via phone and via grubhub, and they are quick! The portions are huge -- you can definitely make it 2-3 meals, or one if you're starving. Definitely recommend if you want good food at a very decent price. read more

Everything seemed ok. (Ridiculous). Their site offers an option to provide them with "special cooking requests", which they apparently will not honor. Ordered through Doordash. Order was timely and super fast. But as soon as I opened the boxes, I knew it would be bad... Ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura. Came with braised cabbage and broccoli which was fine. But the tempura pieces were tiny! The shrimp were like 2.5 inches long, most places the shrimp is a good 5" long. Rice was super dry and crunchy. Adding insult to injury, the tempura sauce was the saltiest I have ever had. Way too much soy, not enough mirin to balance it. Also ordered the california roll. Stuff inside was fine but the sushi rice was just plain rice! No flavor at all. Also ordered the fried gyoza which were fine. But again, the accompanying sauce was so salty it was inedible. When my pregnant wife's appetite overcomes her persistent nausea, I get stoked. However, this happiness endured a slow, agonizing death shortly after a decision to order Sakura Teriyaki via Seamless on an average Thursday evening. Here's the rundown: Place order at 8p, get a cheerful Seamless notification that our order has been received and will be delivered between 8:40 and 8:50. No sign of food at 9:10. Pregnant wife grumpy. Pregnant wife smash. Call restaurant. They report the order is on its way. Yay! No sign of food at 9:30. Sakura is a 5 minute drive away. Call restaurant again. They apologize and say they called GrubHub to complain. Okay. Sure you did. Immediately call Seamless to find out what is going on. Delivery 40-50 minutes late at this point. Seamless customer service apologizes, contacts driver. Driver reports they are 2 minutes from picking up the order at Sakura. Seamless doesn't know why the restaurant said the order left. I point out their whack driver is just now arriving at the restaurant 1.5 hours after the order was placed. A stammering promise of a $10 coupon follows. Immediately call Sakura back to find out why we were lied to about the order leaving. Twice. Ask to speak with manager. Phone transfer rings a few times and hangs up. Call back again. Employee "transfers" again. Hung up on again. Get a Seamless notification that the order has left and will arrive at 10:30. TEN THIRTY. But who doesn't love food that has been sitting out for 2.5 hours in a delivery bag? Jovial driver arrives to my fury. His friendly nature disarms me and I suspect a ruse. I ask him what time he got the request for this pickup. He says 10 minutes ago. I'm pretty sure the previous driver bailed, and Seamless just sandbagged a new driver with no warning of what he was about to step into. Or they, too, straight up lied about what was actually going on. Sakura is a piece of crap shack of liars with mediocre food at best. Obviously avoid. But the whole experience is basically what we are getting from Uber, Grubhub, Lyft, Seamless and every other app-based business that creates 8000 middlemen who are not accountable to one another or, ultimately, the customer. They just enable everyone to point fingers about who is at fault. But hey, it's scalable and limits liability. Truly the American Dream. read more

This place is SO SLOW! It's counter service made to order, but I was seriously waiting 30 minutes. I was the only in-person customer, I guess there were many ahead of me who ordered online. A lot of people came by to get carryout, both regular customers and delivery services. This is a Tuesday night at 5:00, I can only imagine how busy it is on Friday or Saturday night. There is plenty of seating and plenty of parking, and the food is good, cheap, and plentiful. The teriyaki is enough for 2 meals easily. But even if you want to dine in CALL AHEAD and wait 30 minutes to pick it up. Then you can eat in once you pick it up. Maybe it's no longer wait than any other restaurant, bbut it's stir fry fresh meat and vegetables. It's supposed to be fast. I ordered food from here on Uber eats. The person who gave out the orders sent the wrong thing. When I called, the person who answered the phone was unprofessional. When I asked to speak to the manager, he was extremely aggressive and hung up on me. I drove over the restaurant to get information on the owner- and I was lied to about who the owner was. If you happen to go into this place, it's dingy and the people working there are rude. Do yourself a favor and order from any of the other 4-5 similar places around and not this one. I order here everyday but the workers still somehow try to overcharge me. If you visit here, make sure you pay attention to the menu prices and calculate the 6% tax on your own before paying. Because I paid by card they've already received their money and could care less about rectifying the issue/correcting THEIR error. The female receptionist's response to the issue with my order was "Sorry I just hired a new assistant and she didn't know the difference between fruit punch and pineapple nor 2 liters not equaling 20oz." When you question management about these long list of issues you are given a horrible attitude and unpleasant demeanor, so don't let the seemingly warm reply from the owner under these reviews fool you, it's all for SHOW. Have come here a few times trying to give it a second and third chance but it didn't make a difference. The hibachi and teriyaki meats are completely different which I don't really understand; you would think the same meat cuts with just different sauces. The amount of meat even when paying extra for more meat is scarce. The fact you have to pay an extra $.50 for sauce is ridiculous. I will stick with Super Japan in Hyattsville. They give you more then double the meat you will get here, no extra charge for sauce, it's cheaper and they are super friendly. If this place wants to last they need to up their quantities for the price they charge. read more

I've been to many sushi places in the DC area and this was hands down the best place for the price and the class. The Sushi is to die for. My family and I have really enjoyed our visit here and we will continue to dine here periodically. I would highly recommend Sakura over any other sushi restaurants in the area. Deserves 3.5 stars. I've only tried one thing but the Chicken teriyaki was great -- big serving and lots of very tasty chicken which is sautéed on a grill in front of you -- I like the open kitchen, keeps the staff on top of their game;). $5.99 is a bargain and you can pay $1.99 for 4oz of extra chicken! I wish the cabbage and broccoli tasted as good as the chicken but hey, they're vegetables.
