    HAPPY HOUR!
    Boobie D.

What a great time! MASA never disappoints! SURPRISED me when we went to other side because where the heck did it come from?! I swear i have only day on the side behind the bar. But service was great and food was bomb! We had the Avocado Bombs x Edamame, a salmon app but i can't think of the name. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibes always good in SS and especially all the birthdays that were being celebrated from 80 to 8![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] OF COURSE THEIR HIBACHI ALWAYS FRESH X FLAVORFUL and a good shoe if you're lucky!

Extremely Disappointing Experience Written in real time; visited 8/15/2025 and posting at 10:24pm We arrived at 7:35 PM, and were told that our wait would only be 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately, it took a full **30 minutes** before we were seated, and that was only after we had to go back to the hostess stand and ask for an update--after waiting **25 minutes** with zero communication. Not once were we informed about the delay until we initiated the conversation ourselves. Once seated at 8:05 PM, things didn't improve. We were finally asked for drink orders about **15 minutes** later. But it wasn't until **8:30 PM** that our food orders were taken. The timing of service was horrendous, and we sat there, trying to be patient, but the lack of communication and attention to our table was appalling. By **8:53 PM**, we still hadn't heard anything, and we had to find someone to ask when our food would actually be prepared. Our chef finally arrived at the table around **9:00 PM**, almost two hours after we arrived. The real disappointment came when we saw how the food was cooked. Both my partner and I ordered steak and scallops: I ordered my steak **medium-rare**, and she ordered hers **medium**. We both received steaks that were **well-done**, if not **overcooked**. This was incredibly frustrating after waiting so long. To make matters worse, a woman at the table (not in our party) requested **no mushrooms**, so the chef served everyone at the table **no mushrooms in the vegetables at all**. The lack of attention to detail was really disappointing. While the staff were friendly, the **lack of communication** and **slow service** made for a miserable dining experience. By the time the food was prepared, both my group (two adults and two children) and another couple seated with us decided to **ask for to-go boxes and leave**. We only stayed as long as we did because my niece and nephew wanted to watch the food being cooked. Otherwise, we would've left much sooner. To top it off, the other party at our table also had a series of problems with their food, showing that this was not an isolated issue. The food was **mediocre** at best, and it simply wasn't worth the **two-hour wait**. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, and we certainly won't be returning. I completely understand the issues happen in a kitchen being that I am a service industry, individual myself, however, as the customer I should not have to find you to keep asking you questions, nor should my wait time for food be two hours

Stopped by Masa for a quick bite before a movie. Located in downtown Silver Spring above the Matchbox, across from Uniqlo. Lovely purple and green theme with some unique art and fixtures on the walls. Wraparound bar in the main area with window booth seating as well. Also a large hibachi table area for parties and events. I've been before and it was great but this was a standout visit food and service wise. Ordered the pork gyoza, a spicy tuna roll, and the lucky 7 roll to split. Easily enough food for 2 people. Best gyoza I've had in forever. Beautiful presentation for both dishes as well. Loved the extra touch. Didn't get hibachi this time but would definitely recommend as the other two times I've come and ordered it was great. Lan our server was phenomenal. Attentive, friendly, gave us great recommendations for drinks and food. Really made an already great experience perfect.

Honestly, the food was only alright and the prices are fairly high for the quality. We had a reservation, but they expect everyone to be there before you can get seated. They ended up ssking to split the group apart, and it was for a birthday. When we said no, we had to wait an additional 20 mins to have a whole hibachi area to ourselves. I've been to better hibachi spots, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't go back. They do give A LOT of food, but it's not a place for a special occasion.

This place is pretty average. We visited here for a friend's birthday and it started off by them not having a setup ready for our group even though our friend made a reservation a week in advance. It took them probably an hour or so to have a setup available for our group of 14. They originally wanted us to split up and be at two different grills. The food itself was just average. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo. And it comes with noodles and rice. It was a nice change up to get noodles as well but they weren't anything special. The miso soup they started off with was really good though! The service was mentioned above. But after sitting down it wasn't too bad. They got orders done and out fairly quickly. And the chefs were actually fun and involved with our group by doing the sake bottle into our mouths and by having us try and catch vegetables in our mouth. The ambiance was casual and typical of a regular hibachi restaurant. Nothing to really report. There is a parking garage nearby so that's convenient. But nothing about this restaurant stood out as a reason to drive all the way back out to Maryland. If you're in the area, maybe try it out, but don't go out of your way to eat here.

It's Hibachi. You know what you're getting into when you go here. You're paying for the experience and less about the food. It is no different than any other Hibachi place. So for that, I got my money's worth even if the food was average. The servers were hands off and I did not notice if anyone got refills at our table. Usually in places like this, the server is all over you. I hear Happy Hours are great here though, so I'm encouraged to try their happy hour some time.

Food was good but the service was bad.. Came here for my husband's birthday dinner and was highly disappointed. Slow, slow, slow service. Took over two hours to have our dinner. Maybe it was a bad night but we weren't given an apology or anything, just a check... We spent about $1,000 that night. Never again!

Overall, this is a fine establishment and that's been a mainstay in Silver Spring for a very long time. It can get packed, so be aware that the systems need little finetuning. It's easiest to come with just a couple of people, last night I saw lots of very large groups that were waiting for a while, it's well known. For the Hibachi, the filet mignon is the best way to go IMO. It's tender, tasty, and not over seasoned. The food is good but doesn't blow you away. The chef we had did some tricks and made us all laugh while cooking the food. The portions are massive and most people walk away with a full to go box. We got good service and enjoyed the meal, what else is there? It's pretty loud, so if you have guests that are hard of hearing, this might not be the best environment for them. A recommendation for the bar: I ordered the Scorpion Punch as I normally do, but this time, it was literally every alcohol and no juice. It was so strong that I had to go to the bar and get a cup of juice to add in, which they graciously did for me at no extra charge. You definitely get your money's worth on booze, but I'd be happier if it was more balanced and sweet. It's probably just an off night for the bartender.

Centrally located in downtown Silver Spring on the second floor by the fountain with paid garage parking in the area. This has been here for a long time and I've visited many times. The ambiance is ok, getting a bit outdated through the years but still nice. Service has been ok. I've tried the hibachi, which is pretty typical - you're mostly paying for the "show". I'm mostly here for the sushi, which is pretty solid and fresh. Also beautifully plated, I don't know why I can only find one picture lol! Overall I would say it's probably only a 3.5, but I'm rounding up since I've been here many times through the years with many people, so it's a bit of a sentimental bump up personally.

My daughter and I decided to have a lunch date and made our way to one of our favorite places. We went at opening so we didn't get the option to sit at the hibachi table :-( Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the steak hibachi with extra steak at Medium but it was definitely well done, and that was not fun!! Lol Luckily my daughter enjoyed her Shrimp and Chicken hibachi so I guess it was worth the trip.

For starters, we got the New England Clam Chowder and an order of Chickpea Fries. New England Clam Chowder - definitely a chowder and not a soup (heavy cream base) with a nice flavor and a healthy amount of clam bits. Chickpea Fries - A nice portion of well prepared fries. Nice crunch on the outside, but moist on the inside. Well seasoned and not oily. Comes with ketchup and an avocado lime ranch, which was ok. It's a huge portion and we took most of it home to enjoy later. Good use of chickpeas. Branzino - This is a whole fish split in half. Pretty easy to remove the bones oneself. The skin was nice and crunchy with the meat inside moist. Well prepared. I'm not a huge fan of dill and I think the seasoning of dill is a bit overdone here. (I'm pretty sure it's dill. Whatever it is, it's too heavy for me and detracts from the meal.). The wild rice side dish is very good. Lobster Roll - Excellent. My partner ordered this and the only comment was that the large was very big and next time they likely would get the small one. Lots of delicious, cold lobster meat. The fries also were excellent. The service overall was very good. Our food was served at an appropriate rate (apps, then main, which seems not to be important at a lot of restaurants these days) and the water service was excellent. Recommend this restaurant. I probably would not get the Branzino again because of the heavy dill seasoning, but there are other items in the menu that look interesting.

Lovely wine bar in Cleveland Park!…read more We dined in on a Friday night with a party of six. They had seated us in the front window, but the sun was really shining so they were very accommodating, and helped to move our table into a shadier spot. We started with a round of cocktails and appetizers. My husband enjoyed the apricot Manhattan and I tried the Key West daiquiri. The lavender and pea cocktail was also very refreshing. The hummus platter featured four different hummus's. The harissa was our favorite. The Burratta salad and tart flambe was nice to share. We proceeded with ordering three bottles of wine and a few entrees. The petite fillet was delicious. The spring gnocchi was flavorful and the chicken Milanese was a nice portion. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a slice of Dulce de Leche cheesecake with a candle! Service was very nice. Clean bathrooms and short walk to Cleveland Park Metro.

Little Blackbird is phenomenal!…read more I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Great service from super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. A large wine list that they know back to front and can recommend wines from based on your food choices and personal tastes. An elegant but not ostentatious interior. But first and foremost, incredible food. There have been a few items I was unsure of when reading the descriptions, but I have always been blown away by the thoughtfulness and balance that comes with each or their dishes. Of note, their seared scallops that came with a savory and sweet white chocolate sauce were one of my favorite dishes of 2025. Not to mention, the prices here are reasonable and not unnecessarily inflated like other places that market themselves as wine bars. I hope the success here signals a shift in the wine bar model toward unpretentious but thoughtfully designed dishes for a reasonable price. Overall, Little Blackbird is an incredible restaurant that I think deserves more recognition. I will certainly be back soon.
