High style, high class, and a phenomenal experience to boot! I had the pleasure of shopping at Sal Lauretta for Men about two months ago. I was greeted and expertly serviced by Ralph Lauretta. After explaining that I needed two new suits (after losing 20 lbs.) he took one look at me and said, try this one on. He chose a Canali suit, took the jacket off the hanger, and OMG, it fit perfectly without requiring one stitch of an alteration. It's amazing that in this day and age, this level of service and quality are available by such a professional clothier in an extremely inviting environment. He then suggested and assisted in measuring me (with great care and detail) for four custom shirts and we chose four ties as well. The pants needed altering (which I expected) and he said everything would be ready within a few weeks. Sure enough, I received a call before the promised date and went back to pick up my new wardrobe with my wife. Both of us were more than pleased. The custom shirts and pants were altered to perfection. The experience exceeded my expectations and the comments I've received have been truly incredible. Lauretta's is by far the best menswear store I've ever been to. I live in NYC and travel to North Jersey every time I need something. Lastly this is my one and only Yelp review because I'm not impressed by much and don't feel the need to complain online. 1) They carry a wide array of designers and fabrics. If they don't have it in stock, they'll get it. 2) The tailors (which include Sal, the owner) are clearly very experienced and spend a lot of time with every customer to ensure the fit meets their specifications. 3) The customer service is top-notch. This review is for their tuxedo rental services. We really wanted to find a place that had quality service with high end products. We constantly heard about nightmare scenarios with other tuxedo rental places related to weddings and didn't want that to happen to us. I had 11 groomsmen for my wedding! They messed up 2 of the orders plus my fathers tux. Of course we noticed this the day of the wedding when we're all getting dressed. We had someone leave the wedding venue to buy the 3 correct ties (from a random store). I was so frustrated that they had messed up the order. Finally, when returning the tuxs, they had the audacity to charge us for the 3 missing ties since it didn't match the order. Because I was already on my honeymoon, my parents just paid the extra amount without question. It's so incredibly easy to take advantage of people around their wedding because things are just way too hectic. It has always been my dream to have a custom made suit for my wedding and I never thought that it would become a reality. However, thanks to Sal Larenta my dream came true. My process with Sal's started during the Summer of 2018. After reading their reviews I was very impressed and I decided to visit the store for a consultation. I was introduced to the Jorge Hernadez and he was very knowledgeable about the product and he even suggested that I can get a suit that will have satin put onto it to make it a tux, and then after the wedding the satin would be removed so I can have a suit to wear. I was concerned about the price as the custom garments can get expensive, however Jorge told me that they have trunk shows in February where I can get 20% off and told me that he will let me know. My wedding was not until June 2019 so I had plenty of time. Fast Forward to March of 2019, Jorge let me know the trunk show was happening and he was very flexible in making an appointment to meet with myself and my fiance. Jorge was so amazing to work with, instead of trying to sell me the highest priced suit possible, he was very conscious of my budget and only showed me brands and swatches that were within my price range. It really meant a lot to me as I can tell that he wanted me to have the best suit possible and he knew how much this meant to me. After I picked my suit fabric, it was time for the rest of the staff at Sal's to help me get measured. In addition to getting the suit, I also got a custom fit dress shirt as well. There were other customers in the store, but I felt like I was the only person in the store with the attention that was paid to me. I was measured by three people and each one was so meticulous to make sure that the suit would fit me perfectly. These people made me feel like a million dollars. Jorge was especially helpful in helping me pick the details for my suit and shirt. Their attention to detail and professionalism is second to none. I arranged to come in and try on the suit twice in June 2019 (my wedding date was June 29). When I came back in early June to try on the suit I was astounded by the fit. The suit fit almost perfectly. I had lost some weight so there were some minor alterations such as taking in the shirt and pants, etc. I brought my mom with me to my first fitting because she wanted to see the suit and she was super impressed with it. In addition, Jorge was very kind, courteous, and professional to my mom which meant a lot to me. When I came back for the second fitting, there was nothing to do as the suit fit me perfectly. I came back a few days later to pick up the suit once they had put on the satin. I got so many compliments on my suit the day of my wedding and my wife absolutely loved it as well. I cannot thank Jorge and the staff at Sal's for making my dream come true. I spent about $2,200 which included the suit, custom shirt, putting satin on, and the 20% off. I would normally not spend close to that much on a suit, but this was well worth it. Most importantly, I cannot compliment Jorge enough, he was so easy to deal with, knowledgeable, and always stayed within my budget. He could have easily done the bare minimum for me since I was not a big spending client, but he cared so much about getting me the suit that I wanted and I am so glad that I went to Sal's. I have been coming to Sal Lauretta for over 10 years. When you walk in you are greeted with a cappuccino or Perrier. The taste and selection that Ralph puts into choosing the right pieces of clothing for the store are 2nd to none. The tailors are all fantastic and very accommodating. You can try to go to Niemans or Nordstrom but never have the same great selection and or family feel. Everyone wants to go where they know your name. I live in California now and I wait to come back home to tailor or buy anything from Ralph and Sal. I have sent all of my colleagues and friends to them and the family keeps growing of people who love the Lauretta's. It's an easy choice to make. Went in to get a suit tailored (that I had purchased elsewhere). I was absolutely shocked at the most unwelcoming experience I have ever had in any tailor or clothing store. The salesman was snotty and clearly was trying to get me out as soon as possible. I was told that there would be a very long delay (I called ahead and was told the opposite just the day before) so I may want to go somewhere else. When I persisted, the salesman did not even bring me to a tailor but instead looked me over for a few seconds and offered me an outrageous quote (think 5x the tailoring costs at equivalent tailors I am familiar with in Manhattan). Maybe they are friendlier if you buy clothing directly from them, but if you are looking for a tailor run far away. I was made to feel as if I don't belong in the store, and they are snotty and absurdly overpriced. read more

The salesman Jorge was dismissive and unprofessional. Purchased a beautiful, custom-made shirt for my sister-in-law's wedding at Sal Lauretta. I wore the shirt 1 time with a pair of silk suspenders (from Bloomingdale's) and a tuxedo jacket. After I wore the shirt I brought it to Gracie's Dry Cleaner in Glen Rock because there was a stain on the back of the shirt from where the suspenders were. Gracie's couldn't get the stain out. Upset, I bring the shirt back to Sal Lauretta who charge me to replace the back of the shirt where the stain was. George from Sal's said that he's never once seen a shirt get stained from wearing a pair of silk suspenders...until now. Sal's people inspect the shirt and conclude it wasn't in fact the suspenders, but rather it was burned. I bring the burnt cloth back to Gracie's dry cleaner who proceed to tell me it's ridiculous that the shirt is burnt and how insulting it is that Sal Lauretta could tell me it's their fault. At this point, I've spent over $350 on this one shirt. I'm disgusted with Sal Lauretta in regards to both the quality of their products and the service I received. I'm also disgusted with Gracie's, who have BY FAR the most egregious prices when it comes dry cleaning EVER, and evidently provide a service that is not up to par. I'm done w/ both of them. Neither takes accountability and I'm the one holding the bag. Very disappointing. read more
