Have you had to stare at the wall during quiet time? I know for sure the kids get yelled at ... it's kinda hard to run a karate class with physical activity without yelling. But for the other things ... all 3 of my kids said no. The vans are beat up though. I offer grace because I know the chip shortage has messed up the car / van market. If you're a business that has budgeted for used vans but the pandemic has inflated prices to new van prices then you have to wait to upgrade your vans. They did upgrade one though and the others are really starting to nickle and dime. But I can't criticize a small business owner for remaining within their budget. That stated ... on to the review that I want to write. My kids have been going for 9 ish years. Off and on... I've learned just as much as a parent as my kids have. I actually have favorite speeches from the owner and chief instructor: Kyoshi Dan "There's this myth out there that people will often rise to the occasion. That when great things are demanded of them they miraculously execute things flawlessly. The Japanese have a saying... 'you sink to your level of preparation.' That's why blackbelt tests are so tough... they want to make sure that if you're exhausted and broken down: do you still have technique? Can you remain in control? Do you lose part of yourself when pushed to the brink?" I think of that often: 'You rarely rise to the occasion... more likely you will sink to your level of preparedness' The other speech is: "A blackbelt is just a white belt that never quit ... kids get into karate but a few years into it they want more free time may play a few more video games, relax, try another sport. Parents tell me all the time: 'I don't want to make them do what he / she doesn't want to do...'. It's that same parent that came to me that said: 'I want them to learn... discipline.' So if you want them to learn discipline... teach them that there are some things that are not 'ok' to quit. Teach them the importance of finishing what they started. Teach them that there are certain things that they have to follow through." My kids haven't been allowed to quit since . So... I do take lessons with my kids. At the time we signed up they had a family special. My father took martial arts with me when I was little and I have fond memories of us going and getting Aguas frescas after. I wanted my kids to have that same memory. The business model is cool... once you join they lock in your rate. They only raise rates on new enrollees. If you are offered lifetime / paid in full membership I highly recommend it. It has saved me a bunch of money and gotten my kids access to things we probably wouldn't have done otherwise. I think if you are fortunate enough to be offered it that the strategy is to accelerate your child's learning by getting them to extra classes so that they can eventually help and teach. Which is the journey that my son is currently on... he wants to get his blackbelt so he can work for Kyoshi during the summer. That's a huge relief for me since 2 years ago he said he wanted to be a YouTuber when he grows up ... so aspiring for a summer job is a big step in the right direction

There are no prices listed on the website, and when you call, they won't give you any info -- you have to go in person just to find out. They advertise a $199 starter pack, but once you're there, the price changes without warning. It's all very unprofessional and shady. I didn't even receive everything that was promised in the starter pack -- no gym bag, no proper uniform -- and they refused to give any refund or compensation for the missing items. Classes are often not taught by the owner or a qualified instructor, but by his son, and the front desk is handled by the owner's daughter. It feels more like a loosely run family business than a serious training facility. There's little consistency or structure, and when I decided to leave, they charged me a $200 cancellation fee that was never clearly explained beforehand. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone -- especially not beginners or women. The environment isn't welcoming, and "light sparring" often turns more aggressive than it should. Overall, disorganized, overpriced, and disappointing.

Not to mention his deep knowledge and wisdom of JiuJitsu. I just had my first match yesterday and he protected me all the way through to 2nd place with great coaching as I battled. Professor Rivaldo Junior is extremely skilled, humble and takes time to walk you through some of the more difficult systems. He also pushes you past your comfort zone... gently. The staff is also awesome. I have three kids attending their program and I am very happy with the level of attention and patience all the instructors have. Lastly, they have some pretty big names; although, I do not follow professional fights like UFC, various BJJ tickets, and IBJJF matches but I am proud to say that many members of the gym are pros, down to earth, and I'm grateful to do my little part to train with them.

To teach our children to better humans by teaching them self worth, control, independence, respect, values, self defense and so much more.
