I recently concluded my relationship with this gym. The training and the instructors were good. I enjoyed the program and learned a lot. The gym itself is adequate for its purpose. Upon joining, I was informed I had to sign a six month payment agreement. I did so. I decided to end my membership because my drive to and from classes (1hr each way) became too burdensome and not because of the quality of instruction. I chose to end my membership as the 6 month deadline approached so as to honor my commitment. Attempting to end my membership required either going to the gym in person or the gym sending me a cancellation document through snail mail. After pointing out this procedure is archaic in a world where one can handle these things via the internet, the gym manager sent me a cancellation document.pdf to complete. I would still be required to return it in person or via snail mail. These terms are spelled out in the 6 month payment agreement. I was also informed that the "payment" team only worked once a week and it could be up to two weeks before they processed my cancellation depending on the day they received the cancellation document. I chose to cancel in person to avoid the letter (which they recommended sending by registered mail to ensure delivery) getting lost and my cancellation not being processed. I cancelled - in person - without administrative incident. I shared my thoughts on the cancellation process - I.e. how archaic it is. I was told that their process is standard practice used by all other gyms and wide groups of businesses in other industries. This is simply false. I'm sharing this experience so that anyone considering joining understands what they are signing up for. I find it curious and disappointing that the gym chooses not to handle cancellation via the internet, email, Docusign, or some other modern method. In my case, cancellation required another 1 hour drive to execute in person as I was not willing to risk an "administrative" error in processing it. While I cannot divine their intent, it can leave the impression that the gym is purposely making it as hard as possible to cancel in order to maintain a revenue stream as long as possible. Whatever their motive is, I encourage them to modernize their administrative practices in order to leave members - past, present and future - with a positive experience. read more

If you are looking for a tough intense work out this is the place. You don't need to be super in shape either. You start at your level and the instructors will help give modifications as needed. As you progress the modifications go away. If the workout is too easy go up on weight. My favorite class is inferno, but love doing Power fit, cycle, boxing and kettle bell as well. I also love that they introduce new classes from time to time. I've been coming here 5 years in total and canceled for a small time during covid. The process was easy cancel by sending in your form do it 30 days before the next month charge. When I came back I started a 9 month membership but have been month to month for some time now. STW Krav Maga offers a wide variety of classes for a very reasonable price. The facilities are huge, and just about everything you need is available to reach your fitness and self defense goals. The staff is friendly, relatively knowledgeable, and always willing to help. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the contract requires a few hurdles to clear before it can be canceled. You can see the reviews where people state they have problems canceling. Management should take note and either change the company that handles memberships or streamline the process which doesn't require certified letters and notarized documents. This is a gym not an apartment complex. STW could easily repair its reputation by fixing how it handles memberships. Employees know this is a problem. Funny, I called to find out the cost of membership over the phone. The guy I spoke to was insistent on not telling me the cost. When I asked if he could email it to me he refused and said it had to be done in person. When I asked why he told me the price could change at anytime, which is what I guessed was the reason. I have tried to cancel my membership three times already, & every time I wait for a confirmation I get charged the next month!!! Their cancellation process is more difficult than it should be as they require you to provide your bank account info instead of a card & Also, you must email requesting a cancellation form that you then have to send by PRIORITY MAIL if you want to them to verify they even received it. Oh you're moving out of town??? Why not also require you m to show proof of moving more than a certain mileage from any of their campuses to prove you can no longer attend their classes. I signed up for a 6 week challenge at the Crossroads location. I just completed week 4. I've been able to take a variety of classes and use the gym facilities. The trainers and class energy are magnetic! I was in a jogging rut when I started but I've stuck with all the challenge requirements so far. I'm surprised! Rev Hit Fit, Kettle Bell and Strictly Strength are my favorite classes, as depending on the trainer- I can barely walk after. Yes! That's what I want!!! Not only is Krav Maga an excellent fight system that does not entail steep learning curve, it also provides you with amazing workout and strength conditioning. The facilities of STW Krav Maga Worldwide might contain a mix of new and worn equipment, flooring, and props but seriously folks, you're not here for niceties...you're here to learn how to kick ass! They have situation rooms to teach you how to defend against attacks in various circumstances, such as in an airplane! Their instructors and staff are friendly and accommodating. Their classes can easily bust at the seams. They offer month-to-month and yearly contracts. If I'm not mistaken, a yearly contract for STW Krav Maga comes out to something like $69 a month here for unlimited access to Krav and fitness classes at both facilities. I am a current member of a Krav Maga club in Los Angeles with our yearly commitment breaking down to roughly $100 a month (which I still find to be a bargain, especially if you attend fitness classes that are more intense than a Cross-Fit Box or any other HIIT program). I've been coming to STW for about 8 months for both the fitness & self defense classes, & I absolutely LOVE it! The staff is super friendly & helpful: there's none of the gym-timidation you get at competitors. If you don't know how to don an exercise, ANY instructor will happily take time to break it down & help you. Never lifted a barbell or swing a kettlebell before? Not a problem! Anyone here will help you & totally make you feel comfortable in classes. The self defense classes are top notch! Most gyms get upset if you punch things: here at STW, they encourage you to punch things & teach you how to properly do it. They focus on teaching you not only the basics (situational awareness, good self defense form, etc) but also how to practically apply what you've learned. They've got several setups in the gym for various situations - ie. a house, bar, airplane, car abductions - and show you how to apply what you learned. It makes everything super relatable to the real world, so it's not just learning something for the sake of doing it. I highly recommend checking it out yourself, as I've had a great experience here. Just looking for fitness? Try the cycling, power fit, & kettlebell classes. Want to add in some self defense? Definitely take Krav Maga. I loved this place before COVID! The heart and effort the Hardy's have put in to give people a chance to safely blow off steam with a hard workout has been unreal these last two weeks! They had to make some adjustments to ensure everyone's safety. Even though schedules shifted and options changed it was all in commitment to their members while all the big gyms just closed their doors because that was easier and all about covering their asses! Due to a nerve illness, I had to discontinue the classes, however I would recommend the training definitely. As for the billing process, they use a third party service for that that borders on unethical according to my counsel. Regardless, make sure you read the fine print, and make sure your recruiter explains it all ( just like MEPs) all in all, try it out, have fun with each different course, and be prepared to pay whether you want to or not. read more

Joined in April of 2012. Started with just the fitness classes because it was cheaper, however the bag class became my favorite so I had to upgrade which means your contract starts over so I pay about 59. Dollars a month . I prefer morning workouts and have bad knees so I choose the classes with less high impact. The self defense classes are good but I prefer going with a partner, because you will be in contact with this person a lot and if u get teamed up with an instructor it's always your turn. Cycling is excellent. You can do what's called free gym and ride bikes or use the bags if you don't have time for a full class. No treadmills or ellipitacals here and it's not the gym if you wanna go to look good. You will sweat and breath hard the whole class but when your done you will be glad you did it. read more

I will say that when I first started coming to this gym, the staff I mostly dealt with was a lot friendlier. I will spare everyone the details of my own (multiple) negative experiences with the new girl at the front desk and the overall borderline hostile environment of this location and just say this-while there are some great people who work here they are few and far between. Honestly, I feel like I wasted my money and time here. When I asked an employee about canceling my membership, she didn't even inquire as to why I wanted to leave the gym. For me that speaks volumes, a well-run business attempts to retain their clients. Not just let them walk away. Then when I asked her if she knew how much it would cost to cancel my membership, she told me, "oh I don't know anything about that, you have to e-mail the people on the business card." and just stared at me with a blank smile. I find it difficult to believe that she has not A CLUE as to how much it might cost. I am a paying customer, so sorry if I expected to receive a service, like help/assistance. Holy crap. *I just noticed the response now-years later & I would like to say that I was never given a phone number to contact regarding my issue with customer service, I don't know where you gleaned that information from as nothing like that is even mentioned in my review. I miss this place!!! I joined Aug 2012 and was definitely glad that I did. I started out with the self-defense for Krav Maga, the prices to join were cheap! I paid for a year of service with contract and after my contract was over, I paid the same amount just month-to-month. After a couple of months, I moved into the fitness portion and downgraded my package to a cheaper plan. I loved the fitness portion and stuck with that until I had to move. I was happy with the fitness classes and met people there who kept me motivated... The teachers/instructors are friendly and helpful. The classes always had their set times so I could pick which classes I wanted to choose from: kickboxing, kettlebell, mixfit (combo), yoga, spin class... and even a class to lift weights (forgot the name). I actually loved the bag class that came with the Krav Maga package (wasn't included in the fitness package). I know some people don't like contracts, but that is also what motivated me to keep going, because I was paying for it. Which was even better for me because I met people and started to love it. I really talked to the staff and instructors and they all knew me. I think it is all about how much you put into it... The workouts are fun and you could burn up to 1000 calories within 2 classes easily. I say try a class, they will let you try one for free if you go talk to them and see how you like it... My suggestion: try a mixfit class or a krav maga class. heck, try both! They may let you if you talk to them... Plus, they were starting to sell food packages before I left. I personally enjoyed this gym for the Krav Maga classes and I didn't utilize any other classes or the weight room because I work out with weights/etc. at Lifetime (I recommend Lifetime!). Salesman don't tell you the procedure to cancel your membership, so beware when your 6 month, 1 year, or 2 year contract is up. You need to write a letter to member services over 30 days before you want to stop being charged. And make sure it's "certified" at the post office, because evidently things frequently get lost in the mail when sent to their office..... (i.e. me). Don't waste your money. The cancellation is extremely unethical by how convoluted and unnecessary it is. read more

I tried cancelling this membership when I hurt my back. I got a letter from my doctor and they refused to cancel it because they wanted a note FROM TWO DOCTORS. When my contract was finally up I sent my letter to them, years later I'm getting harassed my account is still open. WHAT!? Its been at least 3 or 4 years. I dont have my certified letter for proof. I understood it was a 2yr contract but I explained to the sales rep that I will be relocating so I was not interested in signing 2yrs or signing up period. He assured me that I would have no issues just have proof of out of state address change. I sent a letter with my contract of new lease when I moved to Las Vegas NV and they rejected it because it was not certified... I went back and forth with Monica from collections department. You're locked for 2 years, then you have to mail your key tag with request to stop membership 30 days in advance via certified mail. Btw, you can't get in the gym in any other way but your key tag. Wow. I really liked the classes but they won't let you quit. I hurt my back and can't work out like I want to so I wanted to cancel membership because it is expensive. They threw me in a thousand different directions. I even called at one point to try and get some help to quit and the lady on the phone said "Awh you sound stressed, like need to come in for a workout!" Like what kind of response is that?
