Wow! No wonder Oregon's population is booming with people visiting and relocating to our great…read morestate. If you are in Salem, definitely make this one of your first stops for information, maps, brochures, and suggestions. I called and spoke with Taylor regarding a street map of Salem, which she informed me they have in stock, courtesy of the Salem Chamber of Commerce (Thank You Chamber). When I arrived at the pink building on the corner of State there was the mystical parking spot -- Free for 30 minutes. I grabbed the spot but there are many parking options nearby, not to mention free parking in the Parkcades for the Salem Center. The foyer has a selection of travel magazines, but venture further inside to enjoy free wifi and a sitting area to rest your weary feet from walking around historic downtown Salem. Taylor was still working and quickly provided the street maps I requested. While I waited I entered a drawing for a free nights stay in a Salem hotel by providing information about my visit. There were free issues of the Salem Statesman newspaper, and a vast array of Wine country magazines and other local attractions. FYI, my favorite spots in Salem are Riverfront Park, The Gilbert House for those traveling with young children, The State Capitol tours and grounds, and the fun events going on at the Fairgrounds year-round. For those with dogs, visit Minto-Brown Island Park. Your fur baby will love you more and they will be exhausted. Call or stop by Travel Salem. They are very informative, professional, and helpful.

I have a confession: I love travel magazines. Whenever I visit any touristy place and see one of…read morethose big racks with brochures and ads, I stock up. I want to know everything about where ever I may be, and that includes my home town of Salem. That most of the mags end up on the floor of my car is irrelevant; being informed is what's important. I have never, ever, ever in all my years in this great state seen SO many travel mags/brochures/maps. It was the mecca of Oregon information--and you can be certain that I grabbed quite a bit. Not so much that going back would be redundant, just enough to get through to my next travel mag fix. When you grow up in a lame city like Salem, in a seemingly lame state such as Oregon, you tend to lose (or never gain) appreciation for the sites right in your own backyard. Since leaving my twenties I have gained (or re-gained) this appreciation and can now say, "There's so MUCH to do around her!" Ok, not in Salem. But every where else there is! Go support your own traveler information center. You won't find a better one anywhere--I promise.

We were staying in McMinnville and Sherry was kind enough to pick us up from our airbnb. The tour ended up being just the three of us so that was a nice surprise. She drove us out to Carlton and we went to three different and very cool wineries. Sherry also took many photos of us throughout the tour and posted on her FB. At stop 2 she provided us a snack lunch of spinach dip, breads, cookies, and fruits which was lovely. Overall it was a fabulous tour and if ever in McMinnville I would highly recommend to book a tour with Embrace Oregon! Thanks again Sherry!!

Weeks before our trip began, Sherry went out of her way to help us plan the perfect day -- recommending wineries based on our preferences and arranging a perfectly-timed itinerary that allowed us to visit four wineries with wonderful views/Pinot. She promptly picked us up from our AirBnB in McMinnville. She was kind enough to take photos of us throughout our relaxing day, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the Willamette Valley region and wines. The van that she transported us in was very spacious for our group. She provided us with water bottles, a special sweet treat and allowed us to charge our phones. Most importantly, she was extremely kind and a pleasure to spend time with. We so appreciated everything and can't recommend her enough!

Sam (who's fucking amazing, by the way) helped him chose the perfect adventure for his big day. We ended up going to sticky fingers grow, lamota dispensary, Liberty glass, and ended at the quarter arcade on Hawthorne. Smoking between stops on the bus the entire tour. Sam, and the driver were super professional, and so much fun. We will definitely be taking the bus again. Thanks Sam, you're amazing!!!!

Despite this, Sam, the owner and guide for the trip provided us with an unforgettable experience. We started off with a visit to a dispensary. The staff at the dispensary was extremely knowledgable, and our product was discounted, as we were with a tour. We then stopped for food at food trucks up on the Northeast side of town. We then ventured to Multnomah Falls, which were absolutely beautiful. We ended with a trip to a coffee roaster, and then were dropped back off where were staying. I highly recommend this tour company! Sam was very friendly, knowledgable, and funny. Smoking on the bus was awesome, and the drive to Multnomah Falls was absolutely beautiful.

The Riverfront Park includes the playground and just grassy area (which is nice for all the folks we saw picnicking), and the carousel, plus food trucks congregate in the amphitheater area sometimes. The day we were there there were three of them and plenty of space for a couple more. Nice option to go grab a snack. There were a few picnic tables and we were able to claim one of them. The bathrooms were pretty gross. There was no soap or anything in them and one was in yucky shape. That led us to the port-a-potty, which was pretty gross but a little less gross than the permanent toilets. There's a large parking lot here since they must have lots of various activities taking place here. I'm glad we visited here (at a friend's recommendation) and got to enjoy this (mostly) well-kept park.
