The fact this transit center closes so early at 9:30pm is almost too early. But perhaps it runs with all the bus schedules that are at this transit center. I came in about an hour before I was told the place was closing at 9:30pm. There was a security lady, though she was definitely nice and helpful, I just didn't vibe with this transit center. There were about three transient or homeless persons that were hanging out or sleeping on the seats. I was one of the few people there and I said as security, why don't they regulate the place more. She told me it's just normal there with the homeless. I guess they just put a blind eye to it. But think it's kind of unmindful of safety of travelers. Even as a modern transit space, it does looks nice, with very tall escalators inside, but the safety was not exactly felt here, especially at night. Hopefully they'll actually enforce things than just let things be. But perhaps it's foreshadowing how things are handled in the city. read more

When you think of places to stop on a trip, a transit center doesn't come to mind--but add this to your next SF visit. Finally got around to checking this place out, and I'm honestly impressed. The rooftop public park is such a hidden gem. It's right in the middle of the Financial District, but it feels like a little escape from the city. Super unique layout with plants, walkways, benches, and even a little amphitheater. Took the gondola ride up just for fun (it's free!), and that alone made it worth visiting. I went for a jog around the park, which was a cool experience, but heads up. It gets crowded during lunchtime with people walking, eating, and just hanging out, so it's not the most peaceful run. One thing I noticed and appreciated: the amount of security. You can tell they keep a close eye on things, which makes the space feel really safe. read more

Needs better signage about the bus bays! I wandered around street level looking for Bay 32, but only saw bays marked with letters. I asked a driver for help and that's when he pointed me up the escalators. That being said, the station is very clean and the escalators and elevators are rarely down. The park is a great little secret in SF; I haven't attended any events there, but I'm sure I will someday. read more

Oh, what could have been!! This could have been the modern version of NYC's Grand Central. It looks spectacular but it is sad to see how empty it is. It's now a sad monument of what once was. Just bought a Coke from a vending machine on the 3rd level and it was warm! Great Job SF!

The best way to walk from Downtown towards the Ferry building. It is the Urban Oasis that San Francisco needs! The security is really good which means the park feels really safe, is always clean and well kept. Many families choose to picnic here or go on strolls on the weekend which I find really lovely. Really looking forward to more shops and restaurants to open, but for now, I will continue to enjoy the peace before the crowds settle in! read more

It's pretty and visually impressive. But why does it take so long to find a damn ticketing machine? I was trying to reload my clipper card and walked in via the Beale St entrance. I saw rows of vending machines and snazzy LCD screens advertising products and services, but not a single one of them would help a traveller attempting to purchase a ticket or reload their smart card pass. I decided to try my luck upstairs and took the escalator. My hope raised slightly on seeing rows of these ATM sized machines. Forget it! More vending machines. I see one from Bestbuy even. But not a single darn ticketing machine. By then, I had traversed from the Nor-eastern end to the belly of this beast. I hopped on to another set of escalators to check out the street level, a block from where I started. More of the lovely displays of eye catching digital screens, that now fails to catch *my* eyes. I spy a coffee shop, vending machines for those who apparently absolutely must apply cosmetics before boarding the next bus out, and other paraphernalias. I walk around in despair, wondering if I'll ever get out of here with a full clipper card, or old and dead. Finally, Lord Munideus, the transit cousin of Poseidon, answers my prayers as the vending machines part and LED lights shine down on a gleaming row of ... yes my dear ... the near mythical ticketing machines!!! And my clipper card lived happily ever ... until the next reload. read more

I gotta say, this place is impressive!!! They obviously went all out building this, they spared no expense, at over 2 billion and change!! The Transit center is right next to the Salesforce Tower and under the Salesforce Park! And it's really long, looks like this might be the future Hub for all public transportation in the city. The 2nd floor is so nice, you almost forget your in downtown SF for a minute. And there is a good security presence here, very happy to answer any questions you have. It'll be interesting to see the future of the Salesforce Transit Center!! read more

Not to be confused with Failsforce Trouzerzip Center, in which the employees fail to do up their flies... ever. It's been a long long time since I first came to the San Francisco Greyhound bus station and the memory haunts me still. There was a huge Skyway across the road with the Greyhound sign on it, which always told me I was here. Definitely the memories are haunting and distant, and for a long time after coming many times in my early years, I was always hoping that it would still look like it did in my mind. These days it is the Transbay Transit Center, which has now been renamed the Salesforce Transit Center. It's a massive and amazing and modern building and has taken over from the Greyhound building that I came to and used so many times. It's a good memory for me and I guess that's all that it will ever be. It's been a long long time now since I saw that original building on the street corner, and the new Transit Center is magnificent and currently mainly serves the Greyhound station. Transbay looks modern and space-age and curvaceous and white. And it's definitely quite different to anything you would imagine. There's even an aerial tram and a roof top park. I mean you can't expect much more than that. It's massive and very long, taking up several city blocks, and a wave of the future. There is criticism for the naming rights, but most people actually really love it. read more

Grand Opening Day!! It's THE thing to do today in SF!! Come to be one of the first (among thousands) today to see it. Brand spanking new! Don't miss the gondola out front. Even though it's not functioning now, it will be. Can't believe this is finally opening after years of planning and construction, and $2 billion plus later. This is located directly across the Salesforce West building. You can't miss it. Just look for the swarm of people and the huge line! Don't just stay on the first floor. Take the escalator upstairs to the Rooftop Park, where it's all happening and you can get some fabulous views of all the surrounding techie buildings. Stroll around the complete Rooftop to get views from various perspectives. On the Rooftop Deck, you'll also find a few food stands selling ice cream, hot dogs and falafel, along with drinks. If you brought children, there's even an outdoor mini jungle gym to keep them entertained. If you haven't yet realized the obvious, the Transit Center is indeed named after the techie giant cloud computing company, Salesforce.com, founded by Marc Benioff. All transportation will be officially up and running beginning tomorrow, on Sunday. Enjoy the fete! read more

Eight years of construction costing $2.26 billion have finally brought us a transit center worthy of a city as world-class as San Francisco. It encompasses three blocks and provides 5-1/2 acres of attractive green space that evokes a bit of the High Line in Manhattan (review: http://bit.ly/2PJkxrS). Finally the dying elephant that was the Transbay Terminal has finally been replaced (review: http://bit.ly/2LvY669), the temporary terminal notwithstanding. Adjacent to the city's tallest skyscraper, Salesforce Tower, the main entrance on Fremont and Mission opens into the Grand Hall which is dominated by a huge elliptical skylight (photo: http://bit.ly/2wiNmmT). A large scrolling LED sign designed by Jenny Holzer was installed just below the perimeter of the skylight, and the decorated terrazzo floor is an art piece in itself, "The Secret Garden" by Julie Chang (photo: http://bit.ly/2BSNRch). Two sets of escalators take you up to the rooftop garden has a circular walkway that follows the perimeter of the center and is flanked by a variety of native flora. There's an amphitheater, a central terrace area with colorful tables & chairs and games to play, and most creatively, a rolling water fountain feature that follows the patterns of the buses arriving and departing below (photo: http://bit.ly/2wuzk0z). A new restaurant will open up on the rooftop, but it won't be related to the upscale Hawaiian one that Michael Mina is opening in the tower. Jamie W. and I were here at the grand opening on August 12, and it was all rather overwhelming with the massive crowds queuing up for the escalator and elevator and then trampling on the carefully planned plants and lawns. I came back a little over a week later by myself just to see what it would be like on a normal commuting day, and it was a far more pleasant experience being able to appreciate all the architectural detail. At the same time, there was a sense of incompleteness about the center right now without the retail presence like you would find in any other transit station. The irony was that the park appeared to be much more of a congregation area for local workers, presumably a lot of Salesforce employees, and tourists rather than commuters. Good service, unknown if ticket machines from my experience , security, large selection of transit operators, future high speed rail and Caltrain terminal, beautiful rooftop park, serves flixbus/greyhound bus lines, selection of basic food/ shopping options for passengers, however given its current low transit volume outside of peak hours, the upper transit level feels like a liminal space at times, and can be a bit unsettling read more

** Cue Jurassic Park music ** This song popped into my head when I first walked onto a rooftop with manicured lush greens surrounding SF's skyline skyscrappers. The sun was shining, the construction noise was booming, the kids were chasing water spouting out of the ground, the white collar workers were eating their $10+ lunches, and tourist/couples/local residents/families were strolling leisurely around the park. This park has some very a luxurious amenities that you don't find elsewhere. There's a childrens library, game cart, fuse ball table, knitting classes, daily exercise classes, and free live music on certain days. Tax payers are paying the price for all these activities. This bus terminal took embarrassingly forever to complete. I saw so many other buildings finish before this. Even the Salesforce tallest skyscraper building in SF completed before this. Ridiculous! I can tell they spared no expense on this terminal... The good thing is, this is a much needed garden. Even though it's not an organically grown garden and has been meticulously designed around it's urban space, it is much needed for relaxing, enjoyment of sunshine or mostly fog, and the people here seem to just like it! As do I! To me, it's such a treat to have this so close my job! read more

I came here after it first opened it's huge. It is right off mission street and Golden Gate university is a block away so if you go to GGU you don't have to take Bart and deal with the nasty station. Salesforce transit center is cleaner and there is a roof top park with a playground for the children and classes for all ages. There are food trucks in the plaza off of Beale street by the escalator and elevators it's Monday through Friday and they are until 2 I recommend going at 1 because the lunch crowds thin out and lines are shorter. You can eat at the tables there or you can take it up to the roof park. read more

I missed my chance to visit pre pandemic so I feel like I missed a chance to compare the energy of a full packed center. The STC is huge! The bus terminal is too long and of course the bus line I take is on the entire opposite end of the center. That's literally my only complaint about this place. It takes for ever to reach my bus stop. The CVS near my office recently closed so the CVS kiosks are super handy and convenient. No need to stop at the store before heading home. And while I don't use benefit makeup products I might start! The Benefit Kiosk downstairs is also super convenient. On the street level is my fav coffee chop, Philz. But the true glory is the park at the very top. There's a walking path that loops around the entire park. And as you walk the tail you run into an amphitheater where folks are doing yoga or listening to live music, kids doin arts and crafts using materials from the craft cart, working out with a personal training or coworkers out for a stroll. read more

After a long hiatus, the Transbay Terminal has been replaced by the Salesforce Transit Center. This is the new bus terminal in San Francisco connecting many long distance buses to downtown using a multilevel complex. It spans several streets generally south of Market near Beale. The main terminal is open and modern helping hoards of commuters enter and exit the city. Muni is on the street level. Commuter buses on the upper levels with a park on the roof. There are not many services on site, but there are many in the neighborhood. The rooftop park pushes the terminal to a full four stars with an urban retreat perfect to being or end your day. You can easily walk around the park if you miss your bus or need a nice lunch spot. Public access is guaranteed with restrooms. Homeless and transient populations are welcome as fellow citizens, but they are kept under watch. Overall, I am glad that the new terminal is modern and fits in well with the area. The park is a literal crowning touch. Hopefully the owners can maintain the look and feel before it devolves into a port authority wasteland. read more

Is it beautiful, clean and spacious...yes. Is it confusing and are the buses not running on the set schedules on the Bay signs. Yes. I'm sure I'll update this review but for now I'm indecisive about whether the niceness of the station can compensate for late buses and drivers who aren't sure which Bay they are supposed to pull into. For the most accurate times, check the main schedule on the ground floor. I had a bus that is supposed to arrive every hour and it ended up coming 20ish minutes later (accurately reflected on the main schedule but not the individual Bay sign). read more

The hub will be the center for Muni, ACTransit, SamTrans and Golden Gate Transit. This beautiful facility with a 5.4 acre rooftop garden oasis with public art will serve as a year round facilitator for activities. A great civic treasure to the City. read more

It was so green and full of tropical plants such as birds of paradise, etc. I loved the fact they put lots of seats and chairs and tables for people to bring their lunches and eat there. In addition, you'd also find an amphitheater, an open space for kids to play around, a playground, a cafe in construction, so there were a lot to see and lots to do. read more

I was excited to finally swing by but was slightly disappointed when none of the shops were open, half of stuff was still roped off, busses were late or non-existent, and the gondola was still down. Gorgeous brand new rooftop park! Love the spaciousness, the seating, grass. Perfect for strollers and those with pets. There are free classes on various days as well on the grass. We were there on a Saturday and there was live music by a local musician and plenty of board games and activities for kids. read more

The benches seem to be weirdly proportioned too big for one occupant too small for two and the path around is also oddly sized. Took the parents here on a sunday afternoon. We drove here but you can also take public transit to get here. Street parking was free (we parked about 2 blocks away). We were mainly interested in the outdoor garden which was on the 4th floor. The outdoor garden was very spacious and full of greenery. They also offer certain exercise classes (i.e Zumba, yoga, and meditation....) at specific times. There were playgrounds so you can take the kiddos in your life and let them explore/play whille you enjoy a cup of coffee while watching them, of course. There are game cart, book cart, and craft cart to keep everyone entertained and they are all FREE!!! Overall, great place to spend our day offf!! read more

Now open again! The rooftop park here is beautiful. I love the vibes with high-rise buildings in the backdrop. Two cafes grace the rooftop including Andytown Coffee and Starbucks for any kind of person. Beer and wine for-sale in the middle. What more could you want? The actual transit center itself is still not quite open, but either way the rooftop views here are refreshing and I couldn't be happier about this new option. If you haven't been, check it out. My weekday walking spot! It's a half mile around once, I do two laps, voila, a mile added to my daily walking totals. I do wish part of the walking surface was roped off for those who are walking for fitness, as I'm slowed by groups walking 4-5 abreast or slow strolling folks. Walk 2 abreast at most folks, your group isn't the ONLY group on the planet. But it is gorgeous and about ten steps from my office building and makes for a great walk. Love the area with the board games and tables. read more

When you first enter the transit center is very large with lots of open space. You go up two sets of escalators and I let you out in front of the kids place structure. As you walk around the whole top part of the transit center you see a lot of different plants, there is a stage where people do yoga. Restrooms on the top floor Starbucks and a outdoor library for kids. It's a pretty cool place to hang out. read more

I catch Muni bird here a lot it is very easy for me to get to where the minibuses stop. I came here to the opening and checked out the park The opening was excited lots of people showed up. The park is nice. I have not yet seen a homeless person in the park or a homeless tent. I hope it stays that way. It wold be nice if the park at free WiFi. I thought that parks in San Francisco are supposed to have free Wi-Fi. It will be great when the high-speed rail trains Start stopping at this transit center. Where was this, when I lived in San Francisco? I was pretty obsessed by the architecture of this building. In addition to the breathtaking exterior, the interior of it was pretty rad, too! I took the elevator to the rooftop (about 4 floors up) and there was a gorgeous green space. The 2 times I was up there, the weather was incredible, so it made for nice times to soak some California sun in. Perfect for lunchtime picnics and maybe even an outdoor yoga sesh. I was able to take in the city views and just enjoyed myself in a very serene atmosphere away from the typical hustle and bustle of it all. For those who work in the financial district, you're in luck... it's quick walking distance. Street level, you may find some food trucks, order up some food and drinks and bring it up to the top floor of the building to enjoy. If food trucks aren't your thing, grab a cold-pressed juice, sandwich or salad at one of the nearby eateries. There are a bunch of them!! Don't worry, the premises are very earth-friendly too, because there were compost & recycling bins. Please don't liter up there and help keep it beautiful. It's courteous to let others enjoy the space just as much as you, right? I will be back and can't wait to take my kiddo up here the next time I am in San Francisco =) read more

The park is beautiful. The floor art is pretty awesome. The marquee scrolling text are funny. It's definitely a big upgrade from the old transbay station. Oh and the bathrooms are clean. There are elevated spaces for small events. There are several different demonstration gardens (redwood forest, desert, etc). Overall the architecture is lovely. There will even be a gondola to take you from the sidewalk to the top. Plus you are surrounded by some of the most innovative architectural buildings in the city. And it is free. read more
