The Golden Gate Ferry ride offers spacious quarters, amazing views, and good snack and beverage choices. There are cozy chairs inside or comfortable chairs on either outside deck (deck levels dependent on which ferry boat you get). There are cell phone charging stations by several seats if you bring your charging chord. And staff and riders alike always seem overjoyed to be sharing the experience with you. I take this ferry several times a month sometimes during the week and weekend to visit family. This is truly a unique and quintessential Bay Area experience worth having. read more

Took the ferry to the giants game last night. It's the only way to go. We avoid gas, bridge toll and parking. Worth the ticket price. But the best part is the staff. They are so kind and accommodating. I think the bartender is my fav. He very professional especially dealing with the intoxicated people on the return trip. read more

PREFACE- this is a rewrite for a review I wrote the other day but posted it to the wrong Ferry Company whose owner was so polite and courteous to let me knnow. Thank you Margaret of Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry!!! Here is my story: 5th Star for the gorgeous view sailing in the San Francisco Bay. Uber'd over to Tiburon from Inner Sunset. Our intent was to ferry back to SFO then leisurely muni or foot mobile our way back to Inner Sunset. The ferry ride was well organized but you need to know a few things and they are: Be sure you have your Clipper card. If you don't you will need to scan the upc code from the sign at the entrance and load your card for at least $10 OR ELSE, you will not be on that ride (There are attendants at the entrance with their scanner for your Clipper Card) Soft drinks, snacks and adult beer and wine are available for purchase on the 2nd level. Lower level, 2nd level, 3rd level provide seating. 2nd and 33rd level have outside deck seating. Restroom facilities available on the lower and 2nd level. Best part? San Francisco blessed me with a perfect weather and blue sky day so my sail back to SFO was ABSOLUTELY perfect. I'll hand it to the ferry system at large! Sure the ferry views are great. San Francisco is great. However when I got on with my bicycle in Sausalito, I was given zero respect by one of the workers who had all the bicyclists haul their bikes around this one area, with no bike locks, no coordination. Meanwhile the retreat had the bicycles thrown about. Absolute chaos. The worker was nowhere to be found. I am not expecting greatness from the SF Ferry- but I expect to be treated with respect, and my belongings provided some measure of safety. I highly recommend the Golden Gate ferry. Me and my girlfriend took it to Alameda for the Filipino festival yesterday with beautiful stunning views of San Francisco and the bridge. It is about nine dollars round-trip so definitely worth it especially with spectacular views. Do not pay over $9 per ride to a company that is extremely unprofessional. They cancel rides all the time and clearly value people's time and lives as little as they value the economy. Some of us spend over $500 a month paying these guys for a service that: Cancels rides when people must be at work at a certain time with no other choice, service is horrendous, they often late... use it only if you're here on vacation. read more

Everything was great except for the bartender. Looked like a Samoan guy, said his name was "JJ". Couldn't have been more rude to me. I was one of the first people on the ferry and the third person in line for the bar so it's not like he had been dealing with a bunch of people right before me and was stressed out. No. He was just an A$$H0L3. People like that shouldn't have a job man... there's somebody out there who would treat people with respect and deserves that job way more than that prick. First of all I was looking for a Cutwater. Didn't know if I wanted a margarita or just a beer. So I was looking at all of the cutwater options and after about 5 second he goes " you're holding up the line what do you want?" And I told him I was still looking because the cutwaters were on the top shelf and only half of the cans were visible so it wasn't easy to see what they had available. He didn't bother reading them to me or anything he just said "maybe if you take your glasses off you could see better" little does he know they're my prescription glasses to help me see better so boy was he wrong there. That's just the first of it. Then when I finally tell him what I want and it comes time to pay, they have a machine that says "TAP" so I tap my card on the machine. It doesn't work so he rips the card out of my hand and scrubs the card on the machine like it's a piece of sandpaper and proceeds to tell me "sometimes you gotta rub it a little bit to make it happy" which was a gross sexual joke that I didn't appreciate coming from someone who's supposed to be a professional employee. Didn't get a picture of his face but I should've. This was on August 12th on the ferry to Oracle Park that left around 5 PM headed for the giants vs padres game. read more

The best way to travel the bay. The views are amazing, the crews are highly professional, and the ferry is comfortable. And don't balk at the price. It's a much cheaper alternative to driving in parking. And with your clipper card, you can easily transfer between modes of transportation. Most recently, I did a Urban hike through San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge, down to Sausalito. Then I took the ferry back to the ferry building. Not only do they have a small cafe on board, serving coffee, tea, juices, pastries, wine and of course mimosas! but they also have outdoor warmers on the third deck for anyone that wants to enjoy the fresh air on a breezy or rainy day. The Golden Gate ferry goes all over between the North Bay and SF. There are special events- Giants Games Get a clipper card to ride- yes you can charge a ticket- but clipper makes it easy and gives a huge discount on transit. You'll be able to use it on BART and the local bus and Caltrain too. We love going from SF to Sausalito, but there are other destinations- even Angel Island. You can take a bike (space permitting) arrive early to line up with bikes- you'll board first. We love the short ferry ride and standing outside. When you go to Sausalito- you'll be going past Alcatraz island (decommissioned prison) . Note: To visit Alcatraz- get a different commercial ferry- get a reservation. read more

Was nice to be able to take the ferry from Vallejo into San Francisco. Was a pretty decent ride for time as well and not to expensive. The seat can fill up pretty quickly. So if able to buy tickets in advance I would definitely recommend that. Was a pretty peaceful ride there, on the way back wasn't to bad. Just had one of the crew members on her cell phone with personal calls so we could here her conversation. Could have done without that part of it. We were riding on the Treasure Island Ferry, which is a different company, but Golden Gate Ferry gets a 5-star review nonetheless because of the amazingly friendly and helpful employee who was coordinating lines, keeping people organized and responding to questions at Gate B where a bunch of different ferries embark. Keeping people in line without making them feel pushed around is a delicate art, and few folks do it as well as this guy! As we waited for our ferry, he helpfully answered people's questions (about where to buy tickets, which line was which, etc), and made everyone feel like their enjoyable weekend outing had already begun, despite waiting in line. Ferry's are comfortable and they have a little bar on board for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as well as soda, few chip types and coffee. The coffee they have is called Verve Coffee and is so delicious. Will have to take the ferry again sometime soon read more

We rode the ferry yesterday to the Giants game with our children. We go to games often but are not season ticket holders. We usually drive so this time we decided to take the ferry. What a MISTAKE. We arrived late and missed the first pitch, missed getting the bobblehead and the WORST was the toilets in ALL the ladies room's were broken and not flushing. The boat stunk and people were still using the bathrooms. My daughter almost wet herself because she had to go so badly as did I. WE WILL NEVER TAKE THE FERRY TO A GAME AGAIN.
