The ambiance of this spot alone is worth the visit! It's unique to have a pharmacy and soda fountain shop all-in-one. It feels like a step back in time in the absolute best way! Points for the fun atmosphere! I ordered a cherry ice cream float and they made everything in house. 1. The ice cream was to dieeee for! So creamy and just what you'd want out of a vanilla soft ice cream. 2. The cherry soda lacked flavor. It felt like I was sipping bubbly water. Maybe next time I'll order with extra syrup? I make it a point to try a different ice cream shop every time I'm in Salida. This was my latest pick. The rest of my family had ice cream cones (I sampled all of them and they were delicious) and I had a chocolate milk shake that was one of the best I've ever had. They are a little slower, but it's an old school shop (plus teenagers manning the counter) so things take a bit longer. Great to stop and grab a treat before you walk around to look at shops or take a stroll in the park by the river. read more

Great ice cream -- not made here, but by a place in Colorado Springs -- in a variety of flavors. Classic preparations served up in a classic building right in the heart of town. In addition to the malts, shakes, and sundaes, they had egg creams, which is like straight out of a 50s movie. Very friendly and hard working service. Truly amazing milkshakes! We had the pleasure of staying in little Salida over the summer and so enjoyed our stay and visiting all of the cool restaurants and shops. This milkshake shop in particular was hard to forget. They have amazing combinations that you can order or you can make your own. I got one with banana and chocolate, a classic combo, so good! Only 2 employees were working and it was super busy! They were running around and doing their best to take care of everyone best as possible. New biz alert! Salida keeps getting cooler every day, especially with a new soda fountain downtown. Normally when I visit the area, The Biker & Baker are the go-to dessert spot. However, they are closed on Sundays and I can't go to bed without something sweet. Walking back to the car, I saw the lights on at Salida Pharmacy & Fountain and figured, "Why not?" It's just like an old-timey ice cream counter should be (I imagine, they're a little before my time): plenty of shakes, sundaes, malts and even egg creams. I will warn you that one regular shake could satisfy two adults. easy. And it would be very wholesome to see two people sipping out of the same glass. I didn't know this before heading inside and ended up not drinking like, half of my shake. But it was good! Very family friendly, both with the customers and owners. I've used the pharmacy for 3.5 years and have been mostly happy with their services. They switched ownership more than 1 year ago. I've noticed a big change in their customer courtesy, which appears to me as significantly worsened. The Pharmacy tech has been rude when calling for questions or refills. Yesterday was the final straw for me, telling me she was too busy to help me. The pharmacists have been nice and professional, however. Nevertheless, I decided to switch pharmacies because the tech is not customer friendly and has a negative attitude towards her customers. read more

It is fine to have COVID policies, but there is no excuse for screaming the F word at a patient. Went to get a COVID test and they demanded I fill out a form they never sent. When I went in to ask for help, the nurse refused to give it to me. When I complained aboutthe nurse and pharmacist both screamed at me and told me to "get the f@#& out before I call the cops." Very rude and disrespectful. I understand people are stressed right now but there is no excuse for this behavior. Also, $75 is exorbitant for a rapid test. You would have thought I was competing in an ice cream eating contest with my frequency of visits here in one week. My husband and I love soda fountains and this is now our favorite. This ice cream is incredible. The menu has so many good choices (hence the multiple visits). The Spartan was an awesome float. The honeycomb ice cream was a perfect balance to the blueberry soda and was the best float I've ever had. The second trip I enjoyed the Mirkwood shake.
