Cute little ice cream shop right in DT Salida next to the Boathouse restaurant. Really enjoyed the local made ice cream flavors! They have a case of baked goods and beverages to supplement your treats. I got the raspberry macaroon which was super delicious. Highly recommend for post dinner dessert for the family. read more

The lady working there was sexist towards us guys. Tried saying thank you to here but she had a smug look on her face. But right after was friendly towards the ladies that came in after us. But it's ok she's a fat slug anyway. We hade to wait for our shakes for 10 minutes after a team of softball girls came in. Some of the girls on the team who didn't work there just started serving their team ice cream which is unsanitary bruh. Place was cramped and had a pride flag too. That disgusting bro. read more

the service was horrible. the unhappy lady didn't say please, thank you, or anything to a paying customer, just a smug look and a more smug personality. HERES WHERE IT GETS GOOD!! a middle school softball team or something came in and went behind counter and started cheffing up free ice cream for the whole team. we walked in maybe 7 mins before them, then had to wait another 10 for 2 smoothies and one small ice cream, all while 3/4 of the softball team already has ice cream in their hands. the girls were all loud with no effort to quiet them, creating a obnoxious and annoying atmosphere. asked for extra marshmallows and gave me a mountain, most of witch fell off by the time i got down the street. will never go again and hope it gets some serious help. forever one star. read more

We came to Chill Salida 10 minutes before they closed and were able to get a couple of cones. I love that they do half scoops because I love to get 2 flavors but can't finish 2 whole scoops. I got their malted mazeltoff and oatmeal cookie ice creams. Both were so delicious! read more

My family instantly fell in love with Chill. First, the ice cream is the creamiest I've had in a while. I tried the salted peanut butter cup ... oh good grief. I could feel my body hugging that cream as it went down. Second, I mentioned celiac and expected to have to go through the whole rigamarole. Instead, the person behind the counter instantly said she could tell us which ones were gluten free and she would go get a fresh carton from the back. We didn't even have to ask or explain! My celiac son said he wanted a T-shirt -- which smelled like the shop for the next two days as he wore it around on our vacay. We had fun just stopping and smelling his delicious shirt. read more

My daughter and I were craving some ice cream while we were in Salida last week so we decided to stop by the 'best ice cream place in Salida', Chill Salida. We walk in, and on the flavor sign it says no samples, which is odd to me coming from the Midwest where every 'craft ice cream' place gives you samples. I ordered a few scoops in a waffle cone and my daughter ordered a couple scoops in a dish. The waffle cone was not good. It wasn't crispy, or thin and it almost had a waffle-like texture, which obviously I know it's a waffle-cone but it was just odd. And the ice cream was just like normal ice cream I'd buy at the store, where it would have been a lot cheaper. Nothing was special about it at all and in all of the flavors, I had to dig around and literally look for the add-ins, like cookie dough and whatnot. If I'm in Salida again, I don't think I'd go back. read more

Not ashamed to say we visited Chill twice in our 3-day stay. We tried Moose on the Loose, Salted Peanut Butter Cup, Cookies & Cream, and Malted Mazel Toff. All 4 flavors were fantastic. The place smells delicious, the staff were super friendly, and we got to sit outside and listen to live music on a Friday night. Everything looks absolutely amazing and my only regret is not getting to sample all the flavors or buy a shake or sundae this time around. read more

Great ice cream spot. We stopped here for a sweet snack after lunch in downtown Salida. They have tons of delicious flavors including dairy free and gluten free options. We visited Chill on a Saturday night and it was hopping, but totally worth the wait and it gave us time to look over all the flavors. People were doing a good job distancing and they had complimentary masks to go inside in case you didn't have one. So many interesting looking flavors but we ordered purple mountain majesty, moose on the loose, salted peanut butter cup and rocky mountain road. Purple mountain majesty was a taro flavored icecream with chocolate raspberry truffles throughout. Delicious. They also have shakes that a lot of people seemed to be getting. I don't think you can go wrong with any order here! They didnt have inside seating with COVID but did have plenty of patio seating or you can go around the corner and eat by the Arkansas or at Riverside park! read more

We all know it's hard to get ice cream wrong. BUT, that doesnt mean we shouldnt let people know when they do it right! Chill is a very cute neighborhood joint that offers tons of fresh made flavors. The counter is manned by what seems to be local high schoolers or college kids who are very kind and accommodating. They also were nice enough to give my pup some whipped cream as a treat. I'd been craving some ice cream since we arrived and had tried to go to Chill the night before. Unfortunately, they close at 8pm. So we decided on Saturday to try again. After ordering two different flavors in a waffle bowl, I was informed that they had run out of vanilla. Instead of asking if I wanted a different second flavor, I was given 100% of the malted mazel toff ice cream. I would have tried another flavor. The waffle bowl was chewy on one side, The malted ice cream was a gummy texture and had what tasted like dark chocolate bits, not heath bar chunks. Overall a disappointing experience. I threw half of my $10 ice cream in the garbage. read more

The BEST ice cream. I am an ice cream enthusiast and this is one of my favorite places EVER. The consistency is, of course, perfect- but it's the flavors that set this place apart! All of the tastes that I had were great- it was so hard to pick. I ended up going with mocha java jolt and oatmeal cookie. Coffee is my favorite ice cream flavor so I always have to get it, but it was the oatmeal cookie that blew me away. It was SO fabulous. The ice cream flavor was spot on and there were DELIGHTFUL chunks of oatmeal cookie (no raisins) that were perfectly soft and amazing in their own right. It was so good that after my double scoop, I went back for a third scoop of oatmeal cookie. And then I drove four hours or so a couple weeks later for more. (Disclaimer: this was 10 months ago so they may not still have oatmeal cookie available, but I certainly will be returning for it with fingers crossed that they do as soon as I can) read more

Wow is all I have to say. This was possibly the best ice cream I've ever had! I came with my family of 5, and all of our ice cream orders came out crazy fast and the ice cream was amazing. Easily the best ice cream in town but I have to say the size of their cones as in the amount of ice cream given is extremely inconsistent. Just bought a single for my child, paid $5.16 and it was the barely the size of their normal child's scoop. If you're charging $5 for a scoop, please don't be chintzy about the size. read more

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for this ice cream!" We stopped off here after dinner and we were not disappointed. The young girls working were friendly and very helpful. We even sampled a few flavors, which is always a nice perk when trying to decide on a flavor. There's a nice selection and we all loved our choices! Awesome ice cream, cool flavors and huge scoops. The kid size is only $2 and not small. Great job with free masks (bandanas) and plastic for employees, lots of outdoor seating. My only complaint is they don't have the ice cream description on the board (it is on the menu when you get up there but I didn't notice or get to plan), most people were having the girl yell the flavors through her mask and the partition, poor girl. Some of my favorite ice cream I've EVER had!! I've never been somewhere that had "taro" flavored ice cream, but always thought it would be awesome to find one day. Chill had taro flavored ice cream! I was so excited. The flavor was delicious. All Chill's ice cream is homemade! They have really fun flavors and let you taste as many as you want. The atmosphere is cute and welcoming, and the lady serving us our ice cream was super friendly. I will for SURE make this a stop on any future stops to Salida! read more

Friendly folks and great ice cream! Had a waffle bowl with malted vanilla & toffee. This a great little shop on the square by the park. They offer free samples of all their flavors, so it's easy to pick what you want. They have a Square register, so most forms of digital payment are accepted. soooo annoyed by this place. All summer I asked about frozen yogurt (since when you google the place, it says it's an ice cream/frozen yogurt shop) and all summer I was told the same thing "no, not yet but we should have it soon" eventually I just gave up. The ice cream isn't that great anyways, with the "creative" but limited choices. There's an awesome shop for ice cream called the fountain! Soo great and lovely kids working there. Tons of choices n it's just an awesome spot. This "chill spot"place should close down. ;) there's not even competition. Don't be fooled by the cute location guys, there are wayyy better places to be for better prices as well. It's a really cute shop, I'd check it out before even thinking about this place. read more

Our group each had one of "The Classics". Beef stroganoff…read moretasted okay but very little meat.. Given the word "classic", I was expecting long thinly sliced beef , this was small chunks of beef. When I see "Classic Fried Chicken" on a menu, I would expect crispy pan fried bone in chicken... like what my mom made. This Fried chicken consisted of two roundish chunks of boneless white meat breaded in bread or corn meal, picture "shake--n-bake" consistency. Truly tasted like eating cheap frozen breaded boneless chicken. No flavor. No seasoning , not even salt/pepper. The gravy was pale yellow.. NOT at all like CLASSIC freshly made/home made pan chicken gravy, with chunks of the crispy fried pieces from the pan . This seemed more like something out of a jar.. I subbed seasonal vegetable instead of mashed potatoes. The only thing we ordered that was delicious, Cauliflower and Romanesque . Although when asked prior to ordering , the server said the seasonal vegetable was Romanesque, I was surprised that it was a blend with cauliflower...mainly cauliflower, very few Romanesque The fish and chips looked and tasted like Long John Silver's fast food. Two chunks of fish batter fried. The chips seemed like bulk frozen fries. The person who ordered the fish/chip ate very little of it. The bar drinks were good, on their own, those would be 4 stars. , I ordered the mocktail Butterfly Lemonade. It was a lovely shade of lavender, but was like drinking pure bottled lemon juice mixed with some sparkling water. Zero sweetness, even though simple syrup was the second ingredient stated in the ingredients. We sent that drink back. Server was very nice. Outdoor seating was pleasant.Those elements would be 4 star.
