Salinas Mattress was recommended by a friend. My husband and I went to the store and was greeted by John who was very, very nice and professional. He us knowledgeable in his craft. We ended up ordering a mattress. He even came out to the house to make sure since I wasn't sure about the height. In addition. My mom needed a lower bed to get in and out. I was so impressed he could have sold me a new mattress but my mom was satisfied with it and he was able to put new shorter legs on the adjustable base to accommodate her height. I needed a new foam pad in a custom size for a mattress that fit our infant's play pen. John was recommended highly by another mattress company in the area. When I called, John was helpful and informative and said that he had several different options of foam that he could cut, on site, for our needs. He was very thorough and I immediately felt confident that this was a guy I wanted to do business with. So I went in the next day, and as I expected, John had what I wanted. This is a great company with personal service and outstanding quality. We had a bed made in Feb 2011. A bit of a dip started happening so we called in Feb this year. They came out and put in middle supports and took the bed away to be "tightened up." It was all done in the same day. And, it cost us nothing to get this fix. The bed is comfy. It's not a cheap bed, but since it can be flipped (try to find one of those somewhere else) and the quality is so high, I'm confident I'll get my $$ worth. After sleeping on that, and realizing our house mattress was causing me pain everywhere, John made us one just like it for our home. Almost just like it. John Babine of Salinas Mattress is truly wonderful. I have lost track of how many places I looked and called, trying to find an extremely firm mattress that was only 8 to 9 inches thick. It seemed to be impossible. When I finally discovered Salinas Mattress, John immediately said he could make me a mattress like that. And it is fabulous, and attractive, and exceptionally well made. Much nicer than either of my mistakes purchased from national mattress companies. I was a few hundred miles outside of the Salinas area and John also had to go to a lot of trouble finding a freight company willing to do a one-time delivery to my rural location. John is also very honest. Instead of trying to sell me a new box spring to go with my new mattress, he told me that my existing box spring which was only a couple of months old would be just as good.
