All had no openings for weeks. What? Honey, you are not in Portland Anymore! In Portland, you can walk in any of the 50-100 salons and get any service, no wait, 7 days a week. Yes, I know The Dalles and Hood River are not big cities like Portland, but assumed there would still be nail shops with several attendants. Turns out many are true salons with just the owner or two people providing services. Initially there were no openings at Hey Gorgeous but Sherrie had a cancellation and called me back. Said if I could be there by 11:30, she could fit me in. I bolted out of the house and took the 12 minute drive to The Dalles, a beautiful drive I must say. Located right in town, inside and on the second floor of Hampton Furniture, the Hey Gorgeous salon is very private and comfortable. Sherrie got right to work and I was immediately impressed with her skill and speed. She never once had to clean up the gel Polish; every swipe was meticulously applied and no need for any touch ups. The pedi was equally impressive. I've been having my nails done for 35 years and never has anyone done the service in the order that Sherrie did but after she explained her rationale, it made total sense. The real proof was how great my hands and feet looked when she was done. For the first time ever I had a gel Polish on my toes and let me tell you, it's the best! Lasts forever, stays shiny, and you can walk out of salon immediately with no fear of a smudge. I swim every day and wear Finns. Usually my toe Polish gets ruined but not with the gel. They still look perfect two weeks later. I'll never go back to regular Polish again! Received so many compliments on my nails! Looking forward to my next appointment with Sherrie and will definitely call and book my appointment in advance. Sherrie is super friendly and I enjoyed our conversation as much as the nail service. Five stars all the way!

I never write reviews, unless it's terrible- this was terrible…read more I needed my kid's hair cut asap, and since Hair Masters seemed to have immediate openings, I decided to give it a try. First off, we were immediately scolded for not wearing masks (the mandate is lifted) by the woman at the front desk. I argued it with my children, and she agreed to let my two daughters under 5 go without, but requested my son and I go next door to purchase them. Again.... No mandate. Being desperate for the hair cuts, I agreed (and was kind, despite my frustration .) So this woman proceeded to cut my Children's hair with her mask hanging around her chin! Felt a little hypocritical, but whatever. Oh it gets worse... she then takes about 2 minutes on my daughters hair (3 and 5) and the cut is almost unnoticeable. Then my son (8) goes to get his hair cut and it was literally the worst hair cut EVER! Meanwhile she's sweating profusely and occurs to me she's sick, like EXTREMELY sick cutting my Children's hair (and I'm suddenly thinking the masks weren't a terrible idea, only she's not actually wearing hers.) At that point I just want to get out of there, so think I decide to leave and go have someone else fix my kids hair elsewhere. She then proceeds to tell me EACH of my girls are up charged $10, because their hair is long. Seriously? She took off an inch, it was crooked, and took her 2 min. My total for three terrible kids hair cuts was $91!!! Please avoid this place at ALL costs! A home hair cut would have been way better quality, saved me nearly $100, and we wouldn't have been exposed to this whole nightmarish experience.

I received a call from the salon stating that someone came in who had a hair cut appointment and added on a perm. My clients appointments were cancelled because a haircut and perm make the company more money than, two haircuts! You are required to make appointment, but beware, if someone one comes in before you and asks for more services that will make the stylist more money, your appointment does not mean anything to them. I then had to go tell our two residents that their appointments have been cancelled. I ended up giving them a hair cut like I have been doing for the last few years. This was a very DISAPPOINTING DAY all the way around!!!!!!

I have quite the dilemma. This is a small, rural town without many options. That being said,…read more I've noticed that the local Chef's Store is woefully under-stocked, lacks satisfactory customer service (except for a couple employees like Mali, Albert and Josh) and doesn't seem to care about the safety of their customers. I've noticed that, unless there's a corporate visit expected, the place is an absolute mess. On more than one occasion, I have experienced or seen other customers, almost slip and fall in the freezer (see attached photos). It is too difficult to carry the boxes out of the freezer, let alone navigate an obstacle course of debris, icy floors and pallets that are just put willy-nilly. Every occasion that I absolutely have to shop there due to limited choices in this town, I have observed a few select employees that do little to no work, especially freight and helping customers, on a regular basis. The attached pictures are a one day example of the state their freezer is usually in. I refuse to get hurt, which has almost happened on almost every visit I've been there, because of employee laziness. I'm hoping this review gets the notice of the store and these issues can be rectified.

I've been to a lot of salons through the years, fancy expensive places all over the West Coast including a "celebrity salon" in LA, some boujee ones in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and even in Hood River, oh la la. Never really satisfied. But of all the places I've had my hair done, Colleen has been the absolute best! I have never been more happy with my hair and I'm sooo not easy to please. She is personable & spends a good amount of time working with each client. But here's the thing. Her prices were high when I went there months ago, & she's raised them since. I know there's inflation & all, but maybe she might change up how her card reader works. A business owner should not get a 20% tip. So when I'd pay with a card, my already pretty pricey $50 haircut will cost $60 just to complete the transaction. Now, since she's raised prices to $60 for a cut, it's going to cost you $72, including the tip? The cost isn't the only reason I'm not going back, unfortunately. Maybe it's my hair or my head, but I've been to many stylists before, so I don't think it's me. Jacqueline's cuts made my head look boxy. Just really in general bad. And you might be thinking I could ask for an adjustment, but then it just gets shorter, right? I need to be able to trust my stylist to guide me so my hair is flattering & I'm looking my best.
