called them prior to staying to verify and they called me back the day of the agreed day. This place is a small hidden gem and I was glad i took the chance to stay for the night. I know people will complain about how old it looks ,how its small, how the parking is but for me im practical. The bed is the "comfiest" bed i ever layed in a motel or hotel setting. My wife and I love staying here. Jean is a character. She will do anything to make your stay like being at home. A few years ago, my parents came to Winchester Bay with my wife and I. Jean asked me to come with her to help get my father a recliner chair she wanted him to have in his room. All the rooms are clean and well stocked with toiletries. Beds are firm, not soft or hard. If ever you are staying in the area, you should stay here. There are 9 rooms, and for large families she has a mobile home at a reasonable price. I would give Salmon Harbor 5 stars, but parking is a little tight. I have pulled a 22' enclosed trailer and Jean made room for me to park near the Highway on the property. For a motel, the rooms were cozy with an electric fireplace. The beds were very comfortable. The room did smell musty though when we checked in. Not far from the pier and ocean and right next door to my dads place. read more

I called at the last minute and got a cool room with a four poster and other antiques. I can't lie, the carpet was in need of either a thorough cleaning or replacement, but otherwise I had a nice stay and would recommend it. Try the sourdough place across the street; it's good. read more

Oozing charm, dirt cheap, little road noise but so comfy I didn't notice! Full kitchen available in some rooms. Awesome area to walk down to the marina, stage for atving, and a short jaunt to the ocean and dunes. read more

It may not seem like much from the road, or the rate - but this place is heaven! King bed with puffy, clean comforter, a gas 'fire' place and nice decor. Let me make this point first....This review is being done even though I have NOT stayed here. I have however met the owner, a lady named Jean, and quite a character. The lobby area is actually an antique shop and this is what brought me to meeting Jean in the first place. While there she was very excited to show us her rooms that she had very recently redecorated herself, and the pride of ownership was very apparent in the 4 rooms we saw, each is unique, with beautiful antique furniture and are very clean. I can also tell you that I about dropped when she told me her rates. Let me just say you will not find a nicer place on the coast for a rate as LOW as she quoted. If your looking for someplace to stay while in the area, please take the time to look her up, she has a website that shows the rooms, and I am sure you won't be disappointed! I too have met the owner, Jean. She is wonderfully unique. What an interesting lady to talk to. She was very welcoming, kind and a funny lady. She showed us quite a few of her rooms. We had reservations to stay in one of them and she upgraded us at no charge to her vacation rental for the weekend. The rooms and her vacation rental are very, very clean and the furnishing are quite nice. She does have a cute little antique store in her lobby. The motel itself is right off the highway, close to the water, close to hunting areas and close to stores and restaurants. We spent two nights there and would stay there again in a heartbeat. We were first time visitors to this area and was so happy we stayed here, as the hostess, Kelly, was enthusiastic and helped us locate a couple of fresh seafood restaurants within walking distance. She also told us about the store down a few buildings for morning coffee, biscuits and gravy. We found the furnishings to be unique and Kelly told us her personal dresser she had as a girl was in our room. Bed was comfortable, wi-fi with high def tv, microwave, frig, coffee maker. She showed us several rooms, so we could pick up the one we liked the most. She even offered us to pay up-front or at check out. Our party of six stayed overnight in basically a three bedroom house in the back, complete with a full sized kitchen. Two bedrooms each had queen beds and the third had two twin beds. Everything was clean, quiet, comfortable, and safe. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Kelly was most friendly and helpful. All six of us agree this is the best place at which we stayed on our Oregon road trip. read more

Jean is an exceptional hostess. The rooms are all decorated as if you were staying in a B&B......as other reviews have mentioned the parking is tight, but that is the only downfall that could be possibly said about this charming little gem. read more

My dear friend of 30+ years lives near here and recommended this place. In fact, her eyes lit up as she talked about it. SO GLAD WE DECIDED TO STAY HERE!!! It may not look like much on the outside for some; although I found it very cute and quaint. WAIT UNTIL YOU GO INSIDE! Each room has a different theme and is spotless gorgeous! The furnishings beautiful, the bed extremely comfortable! We were in room 9. This place happily accepted my two dogs and had a small fenced run with dog bags for the "stuff" they leave behind. The staff so friendly. You are extremely aware when staying here that a lot of love and care went into this place and was Jean's passion. Sadly she recently passed away and I am so sorry to the staff, family and friends for your loss. She sounds like she was an amazing woman. Now her granddaughter is caring for it until Jean's daughter can get there and I don't see them losing the love and passion Jean had for this place anytime soon.
