    The complimentary breakfast buffet

Our son & his wife bought a home in the area so we came to visit. They highly recommended the Westfir Lodge so we made reservations for 3 nights. As soon as you come around the corner you know you've found this gem as its so inviting & beautifully maintained. The location is excellent whether you're an avid mountain biker, hiker, river rafter or just a senior couple like us that enjoy the beautiful walks to the river & scenic areas. Just 10 minutes to Oakridge & you can find great spots for coffee, craft beers & burgers & a fun dive bar with delicious pizza. There are also some great places for Mexican food & wine tasting we'll have to come back to check out. But back to the Westfir Lodge! They are so well run & organized! They sent us a text a few days before check in explaining everything from easy self check in to the wonderful complementary breakfast they serve from 8:00-9:00 every morning. It was really a quality buffet of my favorites- everything bagel with cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit & yogurt. Coffee, Tea & orange juice as well. They also have a beautiful patio outside you can sit at & have a micro beer & a snack. The owners Noah & Tracy were so attentive- we had a little issue with our rooms doorknob & they graciously replaced it immediately. We'll definitely be back soon to visit!

My husband & I spent two nights at Westfir Lodge with our 4 yr old granddaughter in tow. It's a very nice place inside & out. Very clean and well maintained. We stayed in the Fir room upstairs. Nice large room with 2 comfy queen beds & a bathroom w/shower. Coffee bar was set up early (I think by 7am) and our stay included breakfast which was different each day and delicious. The new owners, Tracy & Noah also have the Mountain Market going on the weekends mainly that serves up sandwiches, salads, cheese & meat boards with a variety of wine, beer and other beverages. We tried it all & everything was very tasty! You can hang out in a beautiful patio area and look right at the historic red covered bridge built in 1945. The covered bridge can be driven over & also has a pedestrian path. On the other side is a day use area mostly used by mountain bikers with a fun little playground & mountain bike track great for kids and trailhead for hiking. We would absolutely stay again! Until next time...

Wonderful stay at the Westfir Lodge. Tracy and Noah accommodated our large, sweet Kodah Bear, our schedule, and everything was just terrific. Breakfast each day was a treat. We will be back this summer to relax on the patio with a beer.

Very quiet, charming, clean and comfortable B & B. No bathroom in our room but 2 easily accessible down the hall. Good, hardy breakfast prepared by owner in lovely dining room. Good value. This property is for sale by the owner because of his age so if your in the market for a home business this is a well priced opportunity. Lodging rates are reasonable, cash only though.

Great Patio. Good service. What a welcome find after hiking Grasshopper Mt.

We arrived to the meeting spot around 10am and got back to the cars around 3:15pm. Reservations were easy to do online, and I received the confirmation email shortly after with details on timing, meeting location, and what to expect for the day. This was the only communication we received, so if you're someone who finds reminder emails helpful, you may not get it with OWA. We were split up between two boats with one additional solo guest. The shuttle ride was quick to Paradise campground, leaving the meeting point around 10:10am. The guides set us up with life jackets and paddles, provide us with instructions for paddling and safety, and after hopping in the boats and doing some practice strokes, we were on our way. The deli-style lunch was set up for us about 2 hours into the trip (12:30pmish). We ate at a campground with bathroom access. The lunch spread consisted of bread, deli meats, cheese, sauces/condiments, melon, veggies, chips, cookies, PB/jelly, sodas - a surprisingly vast assortment and was a treat after a few hours on the water. The entire trip was really fun. We enjoyed chatting with our guides, paddling into the rapids and enjoying the scenery. Our boat hit a rapid "just right" and two members of our raft fell out, but we moved quickly to get them back in the raft and all had a good laugh about the rapid. The only thing I wish is that OWA would offer photos (just cell phone, nothing fancy). As they carry a dry bag and phones, it would have been nice to have a photo of our group that could be emailed/texted after the trip. Or from the staff member who sets up the lunch. We all really enjoyed our day and would definitely be interested to do another trip with OWA. And as the email says, "And remember, a guide can over tip your boat, but you can't over tip your guide."

Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.

Dan (the owner) arranged an "off the books" trip for us when other rafting companies would not, because of the time of year (October). Our guides Lauren and Greg were awesome -- Lauren was our in-boat guide, and Greg was our host who went ahead and set up camp for us. Everything was spectacular, and the food was amazing! We even had fresh-caught tuna for one of the meals, as well as delicious steak for dinner and eggs and bacon for breakfast. I was joking with my buddies that the food we had while camping was better than the meals we'd had in town the days before and after! A truly inspiring experience, I highly recommend camping overnight at least one day to really get to see the dark skies at night and take your time. There was also enough splash and rapids (only class 2-3) to make it fun without being too intense for those afraid of water or with little experience.
