The short trail that wraps around the lake is good for a leisure troll. It runs about a mile long and has some really nice California Black Oak and Fir trees to see during the walk. There is no signage for the park so use your GPS. There is plenty of space for parking at the gate. The Camp Fire ravaged the area in 2019 and the scars are still very much visible everywhere to date. Miraculously, this spot was untouched and remains beautiful.

The park does offer the usual amenities (bbq pits, tables, etc.) It is also home to the Public Swimming Pool, has river access for boats, and hosts a couple of community events. The catch is... everything is in poor shape. The parking lot hasn't been resurfaced in years, the playground is extremely outdated (my kids don't like it at all), there is only one basketball court, the bathrooms are all in bad shape, many of the sprinklers leak leaving muddy places everywhere, other areas of the lawn are dry, and the whole place is a major hang out for the homeless and drug crowd. I could go on but I think you get the point. It's a shame such a beautiful and large park has been neglected to the point a family has no desire to spend any time there. I wish someone at city hall would accept the challenge to get this park in the shape the public deserves.

It was scenic, there's lots of different lakes that dot the area. It's really pretty. People come here for boating, swimming, and hiking up to the waterfalls. I have told them about one of the stalls where the door will not securely latch, both in person and on their Facebook page. I guess they don't mind visitors being accidentally seen while doing their business. It is a simple fix, only thing needed is a file to open the striker a bit so the bolt will catch properly. Word to the wise-don't use that left side stall unless you want to play "Face The Nation". lol

There is also the Mosquito Serenade during the summer; which has different live music everywhere & it's FREE! A dog park is available as well! 2 different areas. 1 for big dogs, 1 for little dogs! Little doggy pools available + and agility course! They also provide poop bags! Tennis courts also! There is a plethora of activities at this park! Including beautiful river walking trails!

I went back yesterday, and it was so worth it. I love being out hiking, basically alone with the dogs to run off leash. Sad to see such a beautiful campsite closed, but apparently budget cuts did it in. Thanks, Newscum. So many beautiful trees and huge campsites. Across the street is another area with a bunch of trails along the river. Good to see not too much trash that the illegals always bring in, but I'm not in Ventura County anymore, and they trash that county.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I had to spend the night before up in Northern California. Robert was in touch during the week, including the night before to coordinate the launch spot. Unfortunately, the fish were not cooperating. We weren't the only ones getting the bad end... all the fly fishing drift boats were also having the same tough fishing conditions. Robert was a master of his craft. He set us up on constant amazing drifts. His boat is really dialed in, and we were able to motor up and hit those perfect drifts more than once on the river. You can't do that on a drift boat. I recommend giving Robert a shot on fishing the Sacramento river up in Redding.

I was visiting my daughter and her family who live in Livermore (I live in Minnesota) and wanted to…read moreintroduce my 16 year old grandson to trout fishing with a fly. This type of fishing isn't available near Livermore but I was aware of the fishery around Redding and was also aware of the Fly Shop because of their worldwide fly fishing travel services. I called and easily booked a guide for a one day float trip on the Sacramento River. We drove up from Livermore and spent the night in Redding and showed up at the Fly Shop the next morning to meet our guide Shane. Although I own enough fly fishing gear myself to stock a small store I didn't want to lug it all on the plane but Shane provided all the gear we needed - rods, reels, flies etc. I asked Shane to focus on my grandson and he was a big help in upgrading my grandson's skills. He hooked numerous rainbow trout and landed a few which were carefully handled and released by Shane. It was a great day - a nice clean drift boat, a skillful and friendly guide, beautiful scenery, and a good lunch. I highly recommend

Overall, it's a great establishment and conveniently located right off I5 (exit at Churn Creek). I've taken classes with them, bought gear there and via their online store, spent many weeks in Bollibokka, and done a handful of guided trips. Overall, they are great, professional, stuff works, and the guides and reliably fun, adapatable (to anglers of different levels) and heck the Lower Sac is a dream fishery for a day float. Particular props to Shane who took us out yesterday. He was highly knowledgeable, fun, professional, and adapted well to one novice and one veteran angler -- with some great casting lessons thrown in during a few stops. Probably the best guide I've had on the Lower Sac and one of the best in Northern California. Only beef: their fishing reports white board in the shop is pretty reliable, but the online reports get updated much less frequently -- suggest just putting a webcam on the white board and all will be perfect.
