The experience was disappointing. The staff did not make the visit feel fun or welcoming for the children, which took away from what should have been a special experience. The "fairy hair" application itself was problematic. The girls complained that the application was painful. Only one wrap was used, and each strand appeared to be attached to very few hairs. By the next day, roughly half of the strands had fallen out. When we raised this concern, the staff member responded dismissively and blamed my niece rather than offering to fix or replace the fairy hair. Given our prior experience with fairy hair from other stylists, where it typically lasts well over a month, we were surprised and disappointed that this application did not last even a full day. At $5 per strand, we expected a more durable result and a more professional response to concerns. Based on this experience, we would not return.

I don't have extra money to spend on beautifying (or attempting to beautify, ha ha) myself. Two friends of mine kept complaining about the red (brassy) color in my hair, so I decided to have a pro deal with it. Salons are usually too expensive, and Madison is a good option to get something between an upscale private stylist and a box from CVS. It turned out I had to keep some red as blond won't cover my greys, but at least I know that now, and they do a better job using mixed colors. I blow dry my own hair there and they have brushes and sprays and styling creams. It's kind of fun! Oh -- one thing I don't like. They are pushy about trying to get you to do a membership. That's good for people who plan to go regularly, but I'm not one of those people. This recent time my hair color person signed me up for the membership without asking, so that I could get the special $30 off. At payment time I said no, I'll pay the $30. I don't want them withdrawing money every month -- and it's not a small sum! So just be careful to consider if it's worth it for you to join their program. I prefer not to.

Do not spend any time or money here. UPDATE: Owner called and refused to refund for services. She made excuses for the colorist and claimed I was told what to expect. I was not told I would walk out without a balayage and with red hair. I truly believe that if another method (foils, etc.) was the way to obtain my desired look, I should have been informed as I am not the hair expert. Very disappointing. SECOND UPDATE: Owner keeps updating his comments to my review and is now lying about what the stylist allegedly said. DO NOT VISIT AVANT GARDE. The photo of the end result that I posted says it all. No salon would take your money for an"balayage" and leave your hair like this. I was NEVER told I would have "red undertones" and when I was offered a glaze, I was not told I would have red hair unless I got a glaze. In fact, Jordan's stated that the toner should do the job and I could always come back a few weeks later for a glaze. INCREDIBLE!

She gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. It's been really hard to find good stylist in Florida. And The Bohèm is definitely my hair's home. The decor and style of the salon is chic yet laid back. It feels like you are hanging out in someone's well designed living room. And they offer the best cappuccinos and coffee drinks. There's ample, free parking their lot. There's just not enough good things I can say about this place. And this is coming from someone who moved from Los Angeles where the standard and talent for stylists is top-notch.
