The colorist, Jordana, made excuses of course but wow, terrible job. I like to think that I am low maintenance and rarely leave reviews but this is a terrible place. Expensive and terrible. Do not spend any time or money here. UPDATE: Owner called and refused to refund for services. She made excuses for the colorist and claimed I was told what to expect. I was not told I would walk out without a balayage and with red hair. I truly believe that if another method (foils, etc.) was the way to obtain my desired look, I should have been informed as I am not the hair expert. Very disappointing. I came in with a simple request: a 2-3 inch trim, one length across. The stylist said she'd like to frame my face, with some shorter tendrils in the front. I said "can we do the single length, and then talk about adding that on at the end?" She said she thought it would look really nice. I never said I wanted it and she didn't bring it up again. Then at the end as it was drying I asked "did you cut it shorter in the front?" and she she said yes. Never did I confirm I wanted that. I didn't say much and still left a tip and then as my curly hair dried more and more, I realized I was stuck with exactly what I had been trying to avoid - mullet looking fluffy short hair in front of my ears, and longer hair in the back. I know we're in the middle of a pandemic and everyone is doing the very best that they can, but as a loyal customer for years, I need to be honest about the experience I had today that really shocked me. In terms of skill set, this salon absolutely gets 5 stars across the board, however the reaction I received today over an appointment re-schedule is ridiculous. I have zero problem paying a deposit because I understand that at the end of the day we're all trying to survive, but what I was not aware of is that the deposit is not refundable. Susan, who is a very nice new stylist (and did a great job with my hair) told me that if I needed to adjust my keratin appointment that would be no problem. Jenn the owner calls me back after I had re-scheduled and tells me that the deposit of $175 is non refundable and that if I wanted to re-schedule I would need to make another deposit. I was unaware of this and tried to explain to her that Susan did not provide me with that information and that re-scheduling wouldn't be a problem at all because of how busy I've been with work. She didn't want to be bothered and rather than trying to work the situation out she turned things around by gaslighting me and made accusations that I'm basically lying because she communicates the policies to her team. If you know anything about loyalty retention and customer service, you try to work things out with your customers. Not make accusations and make them feel bad for having to re-schedule. We all have jobs. We're all busy. And your lack of Wifi makes it impossible to work while getting your hair done, which is why I had to reschedule my appointment in the first place. Having to react this way is just really disappointing and not a way to conduct business. read more

I just moved to Palm Beach and I was desperate to find a hair salon to trust. I have blonde hair and finding someone who won't ruin your hair is hard. The first time I went to Avant Garde my experience was fine. My hair was highlighted differently then before but I figured I needed to learn to trust someone. Soo went back for a second time and it's my biggest regret. A trained stylist knows not to put highlights on top of highlights. It will ruin blonde hair. I went to get my growth taken care of but that did not happen. I got highlights over my highlights and now I have very damaged hair. I questioned what she was doing because you aren't facing a mirror... When they washed me I questioned the growth and roots and I was told it will lighten up once it's dry, well of course that didn't happen..When it was wet it looked like I got nothin done after three hours...The owner stepped in to try and do a quick fix since I was not very happy. They rewashed my hair and put permanent color on my roots.. and I left with a mostly wet head after four hours...needless to say I have a mess on my hands. Not to mention a cut that is not even blended...I now have very dry over processed hair with two toned roots. If you have blonde hair save your hair and do not go here!! Please! I wish I did more research! I didn't want to write this but I don't feel like I should let it go. If you do go, know your terminology and know exactly what you want. Don't leave it in their hands. I think the girl who did my hair is inexperienced and shouldn't do blondes... hope I can help someone with this review! I went to this salon to get a touch up on a balayage I already had with blonde hair. On their website they say that's their specialty and I have dark hair. Foils were not used on my hair causing my hair to turn orange. The owner said she did not know why her high end products were not making my hair blonde when it was clear my ends were blonde. She convinced me to glaze my hair dark and I was ok with it at first only because at one point I did have it darker and because she stated she was a master colorist. I left content until a week later half my hair turned orange and the other half turned to the beautiful blonde I already had. I told them I want to lighten my hair to blend with my blondes. Instead I got an upside down balayage. On top of that I was charged double for shampoo and conditioner and they refuse to give me my refund due to it not showing on their side even though I offered a copy of my statement to prove. They do not specialize on balayage unless your hair is light. Haircut was uneven but not so obvious unless I curl it. I was so sad being my hair means everything as I've seen a lot of loved ones lose it due to cancer. I went to my previous stylist and she was able to fix their mistake and give me the color I wanted. I will never leave my colorist again and wait until I get an appt with her. Never again will I come here again and if you have dark hair, dont bother. In response to Mark, I did tell them the first day I was unhappy about the orange. It upset me that they had to glaze my hair to cover the mistake. 11 days later I went back again and it was clear I still wasnt happy and I was told to come back in a month to re glaze and cover up more of the mistake. I showed a picture of what I wanted and the owner kept trying to talk me out of it. My hair already had the color I wanted, I just needed a root touch up and the owner not once took over Amanda's mistake. She only gave her instructions on how to try to fix. As for the double charge, I've already filed a dispute as I offered my statement as proof but it wasnt good enough. I had to pay another large amount for another salon to fix the mistake Avant Garde created. Not once have I ever had this issue in my 11 years of highlighting my hair. I was so sad for an entire month and cried because my hair color was ruined and decided not to re glaze and just wait for my stylist to return from her trip to fix my hair and give me the blonde that Jen the owner said her high end products couldn't give me. The woman was yelling at the owner regarding politics and was extremely rude and disrespectful, making all of the clients including myself feel uncomfortable while getting our hair done. The owner politely asked Jill to stop talking about politics or she would need to take out her foils and leave. Unfortunately, the woman did not stop and continued getting louder and louder. I was honestly scared of the woman Jill at one point when she decided to then go off on another client near me. She kept yelling as she was leaving too. Please do not take her review as factual. Absolutely love this salon! I was in a rush for a haircut on a Friday night and I was very happy to come across their website on Google. A four star experience from the moment I called. The receptionist was wonderful and extremely friendly on the phone. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by the staff. The salon is beautiful and clean. My new stylist Jenny gave me an honest and accurate consultation. I felt very comfortable. I was about to cut over 5" off. I had a wonderful shampoo followed by a warm towel around my neck and scalp massage. I was in heaven!! My cut was quick and exactly what I wanted! Prices include a blow dry..something I don't normally treat myself to. Most places charge extra. I was so happy with the end result I started to cry. My hair was gorgeous. I felt beautiful!! The salon is in the legacy plaza off of PGA, next to five guys and across from Barnes and nobles. It's classy and modern inside, wood floors, and white leather seats! Absolutely beautiful. I was extremely impressed with avant garde. I called to get my bangs trimmed thinking I wouldn't get a same day appointment, but to my surprise, I did! The salon is beautiful. The lady at the front desk offered me the full spread (coffee, champagne, mimosa, etc.) even though I was just doing a bang trim. Everyone was very nice. The girl who did my bangs was great! She started by cutting them longer and going shorter according to my preference. I loved this considering I've had so many people cut them short right away. She also blended my front. Plus, she took the time to style my bangs and not leave them looking crazy (have had that happen too!) Overall great experience. I've had a lot of bad bang cuts so I'm glad I went to avant garde. I will definitely be going back. New clients get a 20% discount which is nice. A bang trim is an average price for $12. Their other services seem to be a little more expensive, but you will definitely get what you pay for- attention to detail, quality service, etc. I will be going back to take advantage of their other services as well! read more

I am in Palm Beach Gardens for about 5 days while my husband is working down here. It's always a toss up situation if you need to get your hair highlighted and cut, especially when you have no clue who to go to. I found Avant Garde Salon at Legacy Place and I struck gold! My stylist, Vita, had only been in PBG for two weeks after moving here from Queens with her family. Long story short - she was WONDERFUL! I had not had my hair cut in about 8 months so it was in need of some TLC. And my highlights were fading as well. She nailed both exactly like I wanted and I could not be happier. If you live here, you should go if you are looking and if you are visiting, don't worry. You are in great hands with Vita! Actually every stylist there seemed knowledgeable and I was able to see the beautiful results on several of their clients while I was there. Beautifully decorated, clean and sanitized salon too! Had high hopes but they all came crashing down. I made my first appointment with the owner Jenn on a Saturday. I made the appointment for both a consultation and sun-kissed balayage. After making it to the appointment 8 minutes late the owner Jenn said that she would only have time to assess my hair and give me a consultation and after further review stated that what I really wanted was a full balayage. So she turned me away for being late 8 minutes. Nevertheless, I decided to overlook this and make another appointment with her - an entire month later. So I get there the second time to do the balayage and she convinces me that I shouldn't go lighter than what I originally wanted. She does the baylage only to come out more blonde on one side than the other. I notice this immediately to which both Jenn and a fellow stylist disagree b/c 'that is how my hair picks up color' etc. from prior lowlights in my hair. Fine. We agree that would come back and she would fix it, which I regret to say she didn't. My hair still looks lighter on one side than the other. What I am happy about is thank goodness I was not charged for it. I decided to try another stylist, Lindsey, which had good reviews. After getting there on time (learned from past experience) I was not taken in at the time of my appointment but nearly 30 minutes later. ( how rude ) Lindsey is a sweetheart but I kept getting irritated at the fact that despite my best efforts to converse about what I wanted she would look confused, trying to make me sound as if I didn't know what I wanted, and said she thought going darker was better for me b/c it's 'fall/winter season and that's what everyone is doing'. This entire process is about communication, getting to a clear understanding of what the customer wants, no MATTER the inconvenience. While this is happening I literally see and hear Jenn tell Lindsey in front of me, the customer, "Lindsey you should really make sure your on the same page with her b/c I had a similar problem with her, do you know what I'm saying?" I could not believe that someone would blatantly speak about a customer in their face! I was made to feel very unwelcome this way and very uncomfortable. I mean, I could feel the tension and irritation with me. And this coming from the owner, the primary example for everyone to follow. Why i did not get up and leave right then I have no earthly idea. I guess it's b/c I don't allow others' behavior to control my emotions or reactions. Lindsey kept along with me after I specifically explained that I wanted to BLEND my current baylage look and add some sun-kissed pieces. Lindsey proceeded to do highlights to my hair instead. To add insult to injury I'm now more blonde on one side of my head than the other and have these weird yellow pieces that don't match my original balayage. The worst is i paid $240 plus dollars for it. I couldn't very much tell b/c she curled the hair before showing it to me so I honestly could not until the curls fell out the next day. Being a professional who comes from the Customer Service and Retail Industry, I pride myself on building client relationships for life and loyalty. Unfortunately, my last experience at AvanteGarde has not only ruined my experience with this salon, but my hair as well. I have been a loyal customer to Jenn and this salon for 3 years and have always enjoyed her work. On my last visit, I requested the same hair process I get each visit and the end result was not even close to what it usually looks like. When I got home and blew out my hair and saw the end results, I was immediately devastated and an emotional wreck. Being a woman your hair is part of your identity and confidence. I called the salon right away to see if they could get me in ASAP to fix my hair. The receptionist relayed my hair stylist (the owner Jenn) wasn't available and she would have to call me back. I called again b/c I needed it fixed. Another stylist Brittany agreed to fix my hair on Tuesday. (My original appt was Sat when this all happened and they are closed Sunday and Monday) Tuesday came, and I received a voicemail that Brittany went home sick and couldn't do it. I called back to speak to Jenn and she was "not available". I realized I was speaking to Brittany (even though the receptionist told me she went home sick??) She relayed that Jenn would call me. Wednesday morning I STILL hadn't heard from Jenn, so I called the salon that morning. As I explained to her how my hair turned out, you could hear in her voice how she couldn't careless and had no desire to go out of her way to assist in not only repairing my hair, but maintaining my loyalty to her business. When asking if she could fit me in her schedule for the week because my hair is not appropriate for my business office, she answered with "well I can't cancel someone else's appointment to put you in." I completely understand not canceling another client's appointment, but she did not even offer an alternative or ability to try to squeeze me in between appointments or offer to see if another stylist could assist as well. (I would have heavily tipped someone to fix Jenn's mistake) At the end of the day yes I am very upset over my hair, but what hurts more is the stylist could careless at trying to maintain my business and my loyalty of continuing to utilize her services. I had to get a consultation from another salon and the OWNER stayed until 9:45PM to fix my hair. Response to Jenn's reply 7.14.17 : Regardless if I misspoke the name from Brittany to Nicole, those pictures were taken on Saturday less than 1 hour from leaving the salon. Left salon at 5:31pm. pic of the back of my hair was taken at 6:09pm and at the beach from the side at 6:25pm. This IS your work. Those photos are dated and time stamped for proof. Also, you did NOT offer me an appointment on Wednesday after work with Nicole, otherwise I would have accepted it. If you remember our conversation Wednesday morning, I told you that someone said you had availability open on Wednesday evening and you told me that you didn't. You offered me an appointment on Friday at 5:30pm which I would have happily attended if you would have handled this situation differently. I did call (with proof on my cell phone) on Friday at 12:48pm to cancel my 5:30pm appt with you as I had to go elsewhere to get my hair fixed on Thursday evening. By the way, whichever Nicole was going to fix my hair on Tuesday and was supposedly home sick, verbally told me on the phone that she was the one who was going to fix my hair, but you didn't want anyone else to do it, that's how I knew the receptionist lied. I've been coming to you longer than 5 months......so your March 2017 dates are incorrect. You literally have a photo on your instagram of my before and after dated March 3rd 2016. This was not my first visit to you. And yes, you absolutely did do a great color correction on me. You did suggest a blow dry this visit, but you also charge extra for it, which doesn't change the service you performed. You were booked anyways and wouldn't have been able to fix it from what you replied. You obviously weren't listening when I FINALLY got ahold of you on Wednesday b/c I did not relay to you that there were 2 stripes? Not sure where you got that from. End of story, I truly would have liked to give you a chance to fix it, but you handled the whole situation so poorly. For this to happen on Saturday and me call your salon on Tuesday twice and again on Wednesday to finally speak with you is ridiculous. The positive is they fit my cousin in on one days notice. We were staying in town for a couple of days and my cousin needed a cut and to take her medium blonde hair much brighter and summery. She got one of the junior staff stylist who was absolutely lovely! The cost was agreed upon before the treatment started and my cousin and I were both excited for a little beautification (me watching her beautification that is). The end result was not at all the bright summery blonde as the pics we had shown beforehand and the bill from the owner was a bit jaw dropping! We paid but sadly the stylist's tip was not the 20+ percent we usually give since we did feel like the results were not completely what was asked for, and because there were charges on the bill that felt like a complete upsell. If you do choose this salon, ask specific questions about what is needed for the desired result and the itemized cost (I thought I was pretty savvy when it comes to this but felt like I let my cousin down as she very rarely gets her hair down). Yesterday was my first time at Avant Garde Salon. I saw Nicole P for my hair and I asked for a icy blonde balayage with cool tones, I also provided a picture of what I exactly wanted my hair to look like. I told Nicole that I did not want ANY WARM colors & she supposedly understood that. My hair turned out completely horrible! While she was doing my hair she kept walking over to another stylist asking her what colors she should use on my hair. Nicole told me that I should do a color melt to bring my roots down to blend the balayage. I paid an extra $85 for the color melt & all that did to my hair was make my roots extremely dark with an auburn tint which is far from a cool light brown that I wanted. After she was done doing the balayage the bottom half of my hair did not look any different than how it looked when I came in. I called right after I left when my hair had dried to let Nicole P know I was unhappy with my new base color and the bottom half where she attempted the balayage was not any blonder or even ashy. It wasn't anything that I had asked for! The receptionist told me she going to let the owner know about the issue & give me a call back. I got a voice message from the receptionist (Melissa) saying she spoke with the owner (Jenn). I was told that being that they cannot predict what my hair is going to do they can't not fix or actually lighten the bottom of my hair but they can give me a free base color which will only make my roots darker & not achieve anything I wanted once again. I called back & spoke to the manager (Jessica) who once again told me the same thing that the receptionist had said and that Jenn the owner could take a look at it but I didn't want to waste more of my time to drive back down to the salon because I live about 25 mins from there & have her still not accomplish my desired results. What also influenced my decision on not going back to have Jenn "take a look" at my hair was a bad review on Yelp as well stating that Jenn tried to fix her hair but only made it worse and made her feel like it was her fault. This was a client who also had a balayage not turn out the way she wanted. It also irritates me that I spent $232 without tip & with a 20% discount for being a first time customer on something that's completely different than what I had wanted & looks horrendous. I will also be providing pictures of what I had asked for & showed her versus what I received. UPDATE- After leaving a review on three different websites because I am so upset with my hair the owner finally decided to call me after she saw them. Jenn the owner started off being nice on the phone but once I told her how I felt about my hair & how I did not feel comfortable with her working on my hair since my first results we're not nearly close to what I wanted she became super aggressive & nasty with me on the phone. Jenn barely let me get a word in to even explain why I didn't feel comfortable coming back in for her to work on my hair. All of the other negative reviews I have read about her being so unprofessional, rude, & yelling at customers is 100% true! I work in hospitality and would never speak to a client/costumer the way Jenn spoke to me on the phone. I am completely dumbfounded by the way Jenn handled herself on the phone with me. I would never recommend this salon to anyone & advise people to go somewhere else. read more

Today was my first visit and I had Sierra as my stylist. The salon was clean and comfortable, especially the wash bar chairs. I was offered something to drink multiple times during my 3 hour appointment in case I changed my mind, which I often do, so it was nice to have the option offered. There is an ATM on site which I think is nice since you can't add gratuity on the card. Most salons have this policy but have no ATM so this was a nice convenience. I will be going back and would recommend to others! read more

First the salon is clean and bright. Everyone that works there is super nice and helpful. Jamie is a genius with color and as they don't use just one brand of color, she was able to mix and match brands to give me the perfect blonde! I love this salon and can't wait to go back in 8 weeks! I just found this salon and had wonderful results with corrective color and a fresh new hair cut without losing all my length!! The salon was beautiful and clean, everyone was very nice! Bonus: headrests in the sink so your neck does not feel like a Pez dispenser! Jenn, the owner, has an inborn talent for (corrective) color and hair in general. This place is the BEST hair salon i've ever been to. I had a horrible orange ombre that was done at a local Regis salon and they basically ruined my hair by bleaching only half of my head. It looked super horrible and was not at all what I had wanted from the beginning. So I was recommended to go to Avante Garde by a few friends.I got Taylor as my hair stylist and she was awesome! She explained every detail of what she was doing before hand. Super helpful and understanding. I told her I didnt want to spend a ton of money again and she was SO helpful in explaining what she could do. Not only did she fix my hair for a reasonable price, but she also gave me a free mini haircut (to fix some bad edges), a blowout and even curled my hair at the end! The salon is wonderful too, super modern and chic. Will only be returning there to do my hair from now on! read more
