His hair is important for him booking jobs, and this time instead of having her cut it, we sought a professional. And a professional we found! Dan's studio is comfy. Street parking is not difficult. He is courteous and generously shares his decades of wisdom on the science and art of hair. To be fair, my wife initially felt my son's hair was cut too short compared to his trademark longer length, but Dan cut his hair in such a way as to make it versatile. Danal gave my son a killer layered cut (see pics below) and cleaned up his facial hair. James is equally talented and a master colorist as well as being a stylist. Now we understand why :) When you do great work - people talk. Love the that the space is only 2 chairs (Dan + James) and the vibe is low kep. Dan is an exceptional stylist who gave me one of the best haircuts (if not the best) I've ever received. Dan accommodated my schedule and took great care to understand how my hair grows and how to achieve my goal haircut. He also took care prepping and cutting my long hair so I could properly donate it. I found the Yelp reviews, looked at the photos, saw that it wasn't just one hair cut and style that the stylists were capable of- and they all looked great. I decided to give it a shot. I originally tried to book with Dan who referred me to James F. James is amazing. What a kind, awesome, talented human being. James interviewed me and asked if I had any inspirations. He let me tell him what I liked from the past and what I didn't like or was trying to avoid with my hair. He then set about going for a look that matched what he thought was my vibe. I couldn't be happier with the end result. He took his time cutting and razoring and shaping my hair. The. We went for color- again- perfect highlights. James went the extra mile that very few salons do to make the highlights match and blend perfectly with my natural hair color. James was a great conversationalist. We had a good time talking while he worked his magic. The salon is small but peaceful. At one point I was there for a while and my parking was running out. James went outside himself while my highlights were drying to feed the meter for me. James is an artist. Literally. Have him show you some of his incredible oil work that is currently hanging in galleries. Then be glad that that artist is working on YOU! When he was finished, James showed me multiple ways I could style my new look depending on what I was going for. It's not cheap. But it's worth every penny. Ignores my texts and won't give me an appointment. I came in for a haircut 6 months ago. Everything went fine it was a nice interaction and I tipped. Now for the past few weeks I was trying to make an appointment but my texts are getting ignored. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and texted multiple times giving him plenty of time to read them but it is clear that I am just getting ignored. Dan is a master of his craft and a true professional. He has a sixth sense for hairstyle. You can show him any picture and he will cut your hair that way in less than an hour. I'd trust him to cut my hair blindfolded. I would rather wait two weeks for a haircut from Dan (which would never happen -- he's super accommodating) than get a haircut from someone else immediately. I searched high and low for a great hair stylist for my hair. Where do I start my search? Of course, Yelp. I was going through Yelp and found Salon 8217. I called the number and talked to a gentleman named Dan. He's the owner and the hair stylist. He was able to squeeze me in that week. I found out Dan works everyday except Sunday. He's very accommodating with your schedule. When I arrived, I parked on the street. You will have to feed the meters depending on what day and time. You can use your credit card for the meters so you don't have to bring quarters. Who has quarters nowadays. I arrived at his hair salon. I showed Dan a photo of a person with the hairstyle I wanted. He first washed and dried my hair. Then he started cutting. He is a master with the scissors. He layered my hair perfectly. He's been doing this for 40 years! Not only that he has a lot of great stories. He entertained me with all his adventures in life. He is very easy to talk to and very chill. After he was done, I looked in the mirror. My hair was exactly like the photo that I showed him. Wow! He cut it exactly. I knew I found my stylist. If you are still looking for a master of the craft, give Dan a try.
