Arrived late into LA and needed to get cleaned up. Most places were already closed or close to closing. Fino's spot showed that it was basically open til 12am. CRAZY right! I called to see if I could get squeezed in. As I was leaving a voicemail he texted back. Great communication! He is located in the back of a housing complex. In order for me to get in I needed him to grab me so he put his current customer on hold to get me. I sat outside w/ the chairs he has placed. His workspace is only enough room for him and the chair. So I chatted w/ the neighbor. I asked for get a tight fade w/ a hard part and don't touch the top. Tight fade, check. Hard part, partial check. I ended up having someone else come clean it up after I showered as Fino didn't get it right. In addition he did clip some of the top which I didn't want done. In need of a quick cut at any time. I went ahead and texted him super late and last minute and he responded right away and communicated the times that worked best. One of the biggest perks is his operation of hours. I always work odd hours and struggle to find time after work, but Fino works pretty darn late, which is great for me. Very accessible, as long as you give a heads up! When I got there, I showed him a picture and he literally cut my hair like it. Very detailed and knows how important hair can be for men. it was my first trip to a barber. ive been going to asian hair salon because it was more familiar to me (im from oversea). from the greeting to farewell he was nice and friendly. not overly kind. he was cool. there was another guy who was filming the footage. looks like they do many stuffs for social media which i know nothing of. his office was cozy and nice. little bit of music studio, and little bit of filming studio. he offered me water bottle which is good. he turned on the music right before he starts and it was awesome. felt like music, barber, and filmmaker were all mixed up and came to me as a whole. i liked the beats alot. the clipper sound hit my eardrum. "eiiing~" gave me goosebumps. i was having a nice moment/experience. i wasnt used to it so was quite nervous. maybe im over thinking but it felt like i was inside of his art project and didnt felt like a customer-barber relationship. it only took him 10-15 min. and he went back to discussion with his filmmaker. no styling or washing. straight cut and done. quick and ez. i also noticed chunks of hair on my pants and shoes but thats ok. $25 + tip for letting me a part of his work. :) asian salon cost me same and they do much more extra services, but whenever im tight with schedules and need of quick cut i will come back. read more
