My appointment time wax only 1 1/2 hours for a perm! Had to wait while processing (my decision) while the stylus (Marie) shampooed and blow dryer a clients hair. She was the only one working. I think I was over processed as my hair felt like straw when I left. It's fine now but I will think twice before coming here. read more

Dwight. Is. The. Man. He's slayed all 3 times I have gone to him, and after this last appointment, he's officially stuck with me. Dwight is as awesome a person as he is a stylist. He knows everyone in town and somehow still manages to remember the details of your last conversation, which in my case was 6 months ago! I went in today with photos of something way more involved than what I booked time for ... and put that out there right away. I was 100% ready to book a second appointment to get it done right if we needed to work in phases, and that's what we agreed upon when we got started. After the all-over color and balayage (spelling?), I was so stoked and couldn't wait to see when I could book again for my cut ... but the man is an artist and wanted to see his masterpiece complete I suppose. :) He did a full cut, blowdry and photoshoot before sending me happily on my way once the 4.5 hour marathon was complete. The shop itself is a super cute building in downtown M'burg with a relaxing vibe, good tunes, and lots of natural light. You'll feel right at your-more-stylish-friend's home. My hairdresser Jenny moved to this salon when her previous salon closed. I moved to Ashburn recently so Middleburg is a reasonable distance, and it's so nice here. It's a very clean and private salon. I love the atmosphere it's very welcoming. Glad my favorite hairdresser landed at a great place! read more

Dwight, the owner of Salon Aubrey, is the kind of guy you would enjoy having over for dinner. He's charming, intelligent and a fabulous conversationist. He puts you at ease by always seeming to know just the right thing to say at just the right time. Most importantly however, Dwight is one heck of a stylist. Given that I have literally searched for *years* for someone capable of cutting and styling a decent messy bob, Dwight has felt like a lifesaver by boosting my confidence with a much needed decent haircut. After patiently listening to me describe how my hair is thin at the crown, how the fringe likes to separate in the middle, how I don't always like to do more than wash and go and how I fret over my ears sticking out, Dwight somehow managed to give me a haircut that met almost every one of my needs. I say "almost" because when I returned for my second cut and explained that I had a couple minor lingering concerns, Dwight again listened patiently before correcting the final troublesome spots with the professionalism one can usually only wish for. The end results surpassed my expectations and left me feeling fabulously relieved. I had finally found someone I could trust (and for a reasonable price as well). I would be remiss if I did not add that Salon Aubrey is an adorable salon to boot. It's conveniently located right downtown in Middleburg. The interior has been updated, it is absolutely always clean and it is smartly furnished. If you cannot already tell, I highly recommend Salon Aubrey and its talented owner. read more

I have been trying to find a good place to get my hair done in Middleburg for my annual highlights for a while, and I have definitely found my place and person! I came in wanting something different and a little out of my element and was willing to put my fate into hands of my stylist, Jenny Kim. To say the least she did absolutely amazing. Firstly, she was very attentive of what I was looking for and made sure I understood my options and her recommendations clearly. Not impressed. Stylist did not know how to color hair and kept asking the other stylist what to do. Isn't that what you learn in beauty school? Also only one of two stylists had on a mask and NONE of the other customers. No sign on the door requiring it. Bad decision to go here read more

I went to get highlights and they came out amazing, all thanks to Jenny. She was so sweet and she made sure that I was comfortable and made the right recommendation. I've been going here since they opened, because the owner, Dwight, is absolutely delightful and amazing. He listens to what I'm hoping for and always exceeds my expectations. Not only is he awesome with the scissors in his hand, he's also a gifted colorist too. I haven't let anyone else touch my hair in the 17 years since I've met him. The location: perfect, in the heart of the town, on the Main Street. The shop: upscale, welcoming, clean, comfortable seating, not your typical barbershop, subtle music and I was told that most of the art was created by the talented owner. The barber/owner: Middleburg native, all around great guy, nice conversations and he really knows his craft. The experience: I was in town visiting from Texas and gave the shop owner a call for a color treatment. Dwight squeezed me in on a busy Saturday afternoon and I couldn't have been more elated. Never having my hair colored before, I was quite apprehensive, he was very patient and allowed me to take my time deciding what I wanted. Top notch service! I returned to Texas with so many compliments from strangers and hair dressers. I have been asked on several occasions the who, what , when and where did I get my hair done. I called the owner a month later to thank him due to the overwhelming out of state response to my hair color! Crazy! The next time I'm in VA, I will be sure to visit the Men's Grooming Room again. Absolutely top flight. The place is really good looking and comfortable inside, with a simple and masculine elegance, and I had my hair cut by the owner, Dwight. He is a Middleburg native, and although I often explain issues I have with my hair, Dwight is the first to actually listen and give me honest, straightforward opinions.
