What a rude receptionist! I had an appointment scheduled before the pandemic and was told by whomever booked my appointment that my cut and color would be a certain price, aligned with a Groupon deal. When I called back the scheduler/receptionist said "sorry you were misinformed" while accentuated the word "misinformed" and kept emphasizing that balayage color isn't the same as highlights, which was what Groupon deal was for, of which I'm well aware of. I've heard positive things about salon and wanted to give them a try but this exchange left a sour taste in my mouth unfortunately. read more

I went in to quarantine with pretty alright looking hair. A few months in I started looking like I was crazy with that messy dry mess with dark roots. Lord in heaven. Then I went to Salon Bella Luca and Gabrielle brought my hair back from the dead. It was great! The salon was clean and they have take steps to ensure safety of clients and staff. Came here a few weeks ago for a bridal party make-up/hair shindig. They let us pop champagne, bring snacks and basically take over the whole salon. It felt a little awkward at times as there were a lot of other customers in the salon with us and we were all over the place but we made it work. The stylists and make up artists were all amazing. I wish I could get my hair done everyday. It took a little longer than expected making us have to rush at the end but still very happy with the outcome of both hair and make up so would definitely recommend booking for a bridal party. The price was right too! $80 for hair & make up not including tip. I'll take it. read more

I liked my haircut here, I left the stylist do as she wanted, and the results were very nice. Perhaps not the very best haircut I've ever had, but one of the most low pressure with not trying to talk me into anything I didn't want. One warning, I was not used to the system of getting cask back and placing it into an envelope as a tip for my stylist, so that threw me a little bit, I guess I'd rather just place the tip on my credit card. I have had several last minute hair needs and luckily, these wonderful professenials have been able to accommodate! I do not recommend winging it, though. I am sure they would much much rather have an official appointment on the books. But with that being said, I am so thankful for this lovely salon. They were able to give my daughter adorable french braids for an event she had, at the last minute, mind you, but my review is more about what happened to me today. My daughter is a Jr. Bridesmaid in a wedding. Her hair and makeup was being done courtesy of the bride. So I thought I would go to my regular spot and get an up do. Well, it came out not so hot. Defeated, I popped in to see if someone was available to help me out. I looked super over done and old! Not a good feeling when you know you will be photographed at a special event! Lisa hooked me up! She did a wonderful job of giving me a youthful, but still age appropriate hair do that makes me feel confident and pretty! Again, I do not recommend just popping in like I did. Thanks to Kimberly K. I went to Salon Blu. My experience was wonderful and I left feeling beautifully gorgeous! I have not had a good haircut experience in quite some time, so this was a refreshing change for me. Janine is a great - no scratch that- AMAZING stylist. The best I have had in a very long time. She took her time and was fun, easy to talk to and kind. She did exactly what I wanted, and then did an awesome job not only on my cut and style, but I had her wax my eyebrows as well. I now have a beautifully arched brow! I feel brand new, and what better way to feel? The Salon at SalonBlu is a very professional, calm, trendy, fun, and the prices were very very reasonable. I used a Groupon to get a Brazilian Blow out at this salon. After coming home I went to BB website, and my stylist did one thing differently than the BB directions. She put me underneath a hair dryer, instead of blow drying it straight. She did flat iron as the BB site outlines. I hop that it remains as straight as the 2 BB that I had 2-3 years ago. She seemed as though she were in a hurry. I was 15 mins late, so maybe that was the hurry. Ladies in the salon were very nice. They even squeezed in a pedicure for me. The stylist/owner said that I could return and get a BB in the future for the Groupon price. That will be good. I am anxious to see how this one lasts. I've got my fingers crossed! read more

Now that I'm back in Ohio, I am back to, honestly, the best hairstylist I've EVER had. Janine is amazing. I completely trust anything she does with my hair. I have followed her through three salons now, and when I lived in NYC, I considered scheduling trips back to Ohio every couple of months to have her do my hair. She's that great. I spent years with long layered hair, but it was Janine that put in my funky highlights when I wanted something different, and changed hair colors, and went shorter...and shorter...to where i am now, which is probably the most fun haircut i've ever had. The latest Salon I've ventured to is Salon Blu in Mayfield. The place has only been around since Nov 06, but I tell you- it will (and should) be around a long time. It's small (in Ohio standards) but trendy and fun. If you're a hair product whore, they carry all Bumble and Bumble products. They carry one of the best color lines out there (Wella...i think..) and the staff is knowledgable, good listeners to what you want, and friendly. No hoyty-toyty stuck up ness here. They even went around and ordered food. ..crap. i'm just realizing i didn't put in my four dollars for my sandwich. well, tip them a lot next time to make up. they also offer massages, facials, pedicures, manicures, the whole ball of wax. (oh yeah- they do waxing too). this salon is great. reasonably priced. and i tell you, janine rocks. i have cool hair. and it's all because of this place. read more

I haven't gotten my hair cut here, but I did get a shellac manicure here that I was very happy with. They have a great selection of colors, and my manicurist (I think her name was Carrie?) was nice and good at what she did. She did mess up one of my nails a bit, which keeps this review from being a full five, but overall I was happy with her work. They also accomodated me when I called them desperate to have my hobo hands done. I would recommend this place, though I wouldn't recommend waiting until the last minute for an appointment like I did-they seemed to be pretty busy. This place is a bit out of my way, but a good shellac manicure, lots of color choices, and a friendly manicurist? I'll travel for that! read more

My entire family came here to get updos for my brother's wedding. Amber and Gabrielle did a fantastic job on our hair! It looked amazing when first done, and it lasted (and looked just as amazing) the entire night. Everyone loved it and I was really impressed it stayed in, as my hair can be difficult to keep a style in for many hours. Even my long and heavy hair stayed up! I honestly can say this is one of, if not the best, haircut I've ever received. Jason gave me a clean, precise trim that I couldn't be happier with. Having a crow's nest of curls and cowlicks sitting atop my misshaped head, I am quite particular about my how my hair is cut. I am only in town for business for a few weeks and it can be tough to find a satisfactory cut on the road, yet Jason came through perfectly. The staff was charming, upbeat, and courteous even at the tail end of a long work day. The capper was Ashley at the front desk who was, without question, breathtakingly stunning. Just SHOCKING...how unbelivable unprofessional this place was. My friend (and bridesmaid) found a deal on groupon (I think) for manis, pedis, massage, redlight therapy, and hair style. She suprised me with this 2 days before the wedding as a gift for us to relax and get a little pampering before all the events started. Our appointment was at 10am (we arrived at 9:55am). We get out and in the parking lot a nice woman says are you the 10am appointment today, we say yes we have several services booked for a3 of us today, she says ok, well the owner isn't here yet to let us in but he should be here soon (she was so embarresed I could tell)...We got back in the car since it was raining...and waited for 25 more mins. (she came over to the car window and said we've been calling him he's not answering...I'm so sorry, if you want to wait I'll keep trying) WE SHOULD HAVE RAN.... We waited, he got there about 10 min. later...unlocked the door and then peeled out of the parking lot (really, you could apologize to us or your workers, how rude). Once in side the staff was really nice but very unorganized, like didn't even know what the bookings for the day were...we were all over the place, go here, no wait...go there, I'll take you, no wait she'll take you. the massage lady was like a bad inpersinator of Dina from the Jersey Shore (or Janice from Friends)...imagine that combination...so annoying. I paid $20 extra to do Shalac...it peeled right off my nails 3 days later (what a joke). This was by far the worst place and worst experiance EVER. and I usually like to give people the benefit of the dought...can't even do that about this place (suprised they are still in business). read more

The service is classy. This salon offers so much. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. My daughter looked fabulous when they were finished, and more importantly she was extremely pleased. No worries here. Salon Blu is hands down an incredible experience, from great client service to amazing product selection. I use Laura for microdermabrasion, and for waxing. I also purchase a ton of Dermalogica product, and they always let me know when they have a new product for me to sample or will order in something that they might not carry but I'm looking to purchase. I discovered Salon Bella Luca after finding a Groupon for them. I was able to call in and make a next day appointment - as someone who was in search of a salon to go to regularly, this was a nice surprise. It only took a few minutes to meet my stylist and begin my color and cut. She was incredibly nice - as were all of the employees. The color is absolutely perfect and three months later it has not faded. My biggest complaint is that on their Groupon page it states that if you have long or thick hair, you will be given a small $15 surcharge for more product (the Groupon was for full highlights and a cut). They do NOT state that this is an extra $15 per ounce - my hair is long, but it is not very thick and on top of the cost of the Groupon, it was an extra $30. Even with the extra charge, I will return again - it was worth the cost for a great experience and color that lasts. read more

Showed the person cutting my hair what I wanted, it wound up 3 inches shorter. I was not at all happy with the cut, only the color. I went to another place to get it fixed and now my hair is way shorter than what I wanted in the first place. I love the new cut, thankfully, even though it's taking some getting used to. My daughter got a manicure while I was there, the girl didn't speak to her, told her that the gel polish was only for acrylics, and didn't even bother to clean up the polish that was around the nails. I may have a discount coupon in the new customer "bag" they gave me, but I won't be going back for a hair cut or nails. read more

There is obviously a reason this salon is on Groupon.... It was hands down the worst experience I have ever had. First, the salon was extremely FILTHY. Second, I went for a pedicure and manicure and come to find out the girl that did my service normally does hair. So needless to say it was horrible. Third, during my pedicure I noticed the pedicure bowl smelled and is obviously not cleaned properly. I would never go back to this salon even if the service was free!!! read more

I purchased the $99 Brazilian Blowout SalonBlu had advertised through GROUPON. I have gotten the Brazilian Blowout before AT A DIFFERENT SALON and what I received from SalonBlu was equivilant to the $14, 30 day blowout you buy from Target!! The stylists were complaining the entire time that "they were losing money on this deal". I went with a friend and she had the same disappointing out come!! The process which should take 2 - 2 1/2 hours took about an hour at SalonBlu....the brazilian blowout has a very distinct oder, the process at SalonBlu had no oder at all!! In my opinion they "skimped" on product! The brazilian blowout is supposed to last 3 months....the one I got done at SalonBlu barely made it 5 weeks!! My friends lasted almost a month!! I would not reccommend this "Salon" at all! What a waste of $99...... read more

This place is terrible! Very bad customer service and very bad atmosphere. It doesn't seem very clean and they don't offer you very good coffee. I have been to other salons that pamper you with bottled water and the scent of lovely candles fills the air. This place is like a salon in your basement. I am shocked it's still open. I received a text reminder for my appointment, which was nice. My name was horribly misspelled, even though I spelled it out for the person who booked my appointment. No biggie, I have a tough name. The salon is in a strip mall, nothing special on the outside or inside. Annie is the lady who cut my hair. She initially sat me down to 'examine' my hair and talk about what I wanted to get done, which I thought was a nice touch; however, she didn't actually ask me what I wanted until the end of the conversation. She had me take my hair down, touched it, and told me I could use a treatment to remove excess product buildup from my hair. I have no excess weight to my hair, which is easily very dry vs oily. She kept saying it would help my hair from falling out. I reminded her numerous times that I believe my hair is falling out due to hormones from just having a baby, so maybe I'd try the treatment at my next hair appointment if it continued to fall out. It's never done that in the past. I thought I'd still let her finish her pitch so as not to be rude. Big mistake. Even after my polite decline she continued to push the treatment the entire time I was there. Regardless, we moved on to where she asked me what I wanted done. I showed her two pictures. One of a long, layered cut and one of a short, layered cut. I told her I didn't feel comfortable getting the short cut at this time bc of extra weight I hadn't lost yet, but hoped to move towards that cut in the future. I then showed her the longer cut, the cut I actually wanted. I thought she was listening well bc she asked me how much length I wanted cut off. I replied that I wanted the dead ends cut off but as little length as possible. She told me we'd only need to cut off about 3 inches at the most to remove any dead ends. No problem. My hair was down to my bum so three inches was perfect. She shampoo/conditioned my hair and we moved on to the styling chair. I asked her if she'd like to see the cut again before we began and she looked at it again. Then she started snipping away. I could only see the front and it was short, but I was thinking that's ok it must just be the front layers and the back would still be long. Wrong. Annie completely disregarded my requests during our conversation and cut fourteen inches off my hair. Fourteen inches! I wanted to donate that hair when I cut it that short, but she just cut it off and let it get swept away. During the cut she said she'd have to take a little bit more than three inches off to achieve the layers without 'giving me a mullet' look. Again, I thought no problem what's an extra inch or two. After she finished blowdrying my hair she asked me how I liked it. I told her I was very disappointed bc she completely disregarded what I wanted and cut all my hair off, after I specifically told her I wasn't comfortable getting it cut short at this time. I again showed her the picture and said that my hair in no way resembled that cut. That it in fact resembled the shorter cut. She argued that it was the same length as the long cut. She then told me that it'd be ten extra dollars to flat iron the style. I told her I could do it myself at home bc I assumed that would be included in the 'shampoo, condition, haircut, blowdry, and style' offer. She then said she'd go ahead and do it and we'll not tell the shop about it, like she was doing me a huge favor straightening it a bit after butchering my hair. I then went to the checkout register and Annie told the girl up front that I was dissatisfied bc my cut was too short. I showed the girl the picture and even she agreed it was nowhere near what Annie had cut. They obviously realized this bc they BOTH offered me a free haircut. I politely declined and stated that I could not return after the cut that day. Needless to say, I would not recommend Annie at SalonBlu to anyone. I am upset that she pushed product vs paying attention to her client and providing good service, and even more so I'm upset that she chopped off fourteen inches of mostly healthy hair that could have gone towards a wig for a deserving child. In the future I will not turn to groupon to find a discounted haircut. I will pay full price at a reputable salon bc in the end you get what you pay for at SalonBlu. read more

I see that many others have liked their experience at Salon Blu however I did NOT...at all. I booked two appointments together...one for my mother (manicure) and one for me (pedicure). It was a day for us to bond but instead we felt uncomfortable the entire time. Not one word was spoken to me; I am not sure if my pedicurist even looked up at me once. AWFUL!!!!!! The worst customer service experience i've ever had!!!!!! I had a brazilian blowout scheduled at salon Blue. The hairdresser was over an hour late. Some other lady (probably feeling guilty) started "preparing" my hair for over an hour because my stylist, who also turned out to be the owner, had "online business meeting". Half of job was done even before my stylist arrived. Still I was in a great mood as my friend had hers done at this salon a few weeks before me and loved it. Well, that god's gift to customers runs in all pretty, no apologies for being late, no smile, no "how are you". First thing out of her mouth "hey, im Amber (I think thats her name), Im the owner, by the way i can give you 20% off manicures and of you bring a new customer you can get 10% off a new service, and please make sure you'll buy special products as you leave...) That sweet "selling" talk kept on as she was BURNING my scull and ruining my hair! Never had anyone treating my hair so carelessly and trying to sell me everything including snow in winter. She was rushing so much that it was obvious I interrupted some of her more important plans. Right after she tried to rinse my hair with almost boiling water (never cared to check, just wanted to get it over with), she said she "could" blow dry it, but if i'd rather do it at home, that is ok too, because many customers prefer not to do it there because don't wanna waste time". I insisted she does it there which was my big mistake as it gave her another 8 minutes of burning the heck out of my hair and scull. Well, she might have had it done in less that 8 minutes as was in an immense hurry. Right after she was done and tried to bill me, i excused myself to use a restroom, In return i got rolling eyes and "yeah, whatever, if you need to" kinda look. Funny to say, but right after i tipped her (I really felt like she owed me money for that kind of service, but since Im in service industry myself, i could not go against my rules and not tip her) both me and her walked out of the salon at the same time, but in different doors. My skull was burning a few days after that, my already not so perfect hair got even dryer after the product washed off. By far the worst customer service experience, and i used to live in a country where they have never even heard of customer service. If you do decide to visit salon Blue, please make sure you see Angela (a great stylist my friend went to see), not Amber, the money hungry, in a hurry, careless, Im too busy for you owner of the place. read more

I'm sorry that I bought the groupon. Through my error I missed the expiration deadline. The current rate of the brazilian blowout is $149. I paid for and the business received my payment of $99 for the groupon but I was informed by the owner that I would have to pay an additional $80-100 depending on length and thickness, thereby, I would have to pay a total of $179-199. I work for a business where the owner has declared that he would honor a customers groupon no matter the expiration date at no additional out of pocket expense. Salon Blu is gouging their potential customers. An expensive lesson I have learned. read more

Amazing Experience! I wanted to get a haircut with the owner, Tiffany who I have heard amazing things about for years but I couldnt get in with her because our schedules didnt mesh up very well. Instead they convinced me that Angie would take good care of me so I went with her instead. Amazing hairstylist, seems as if she was born to do hair, very easy to work with she made doing hair look so easy and made me understand some things about my hair that nobody has ever helped me understand Great hair cut and color! They also got me in for a masage-hands down the best ever and to top it off the girl doing it, Laura I think was her name, was by far the warmest, happiest salon employee i've ever met, and I've been to hundreds of salons. THANK GOD Stylist Karen Baxter is back at Salon Blu @ Bella Luca's after a maternity leave!!!! I swear only Karen has that AMAZING touch. I don't get to the salon as often as I should and when I heard she was on a leave I had no choice but to go to a different salon on a friends recommendation. I sadly was disappointed with my friends stylist and the salon. My Color was very uneven and didn't quite look as great as when I had Karen do it. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. A few weeks later the Salon Blu receptionist called me to let me know Karen was back, and if I was interested in any future appointments to keep her in mind. I quickly booked my appointment. I have to say Karen definitely knows her stuff and fixed me right up. She also gave me a great new cut and some pointers on how to keep my hair color from fading :) Once Again I LOVE my hair !!!! Initially I was glad to have found this salon because it is down the street from where I work and they offer a discount to Progressive employees. Unfortunately, even after I explained the way I like my hair to be cut (which is pretty simple: blunt-cut, square) several times to my stylist, Angela, she would still mess it up half the time. I think having a stylist who knew what she was doing for so long before I moved here has made my standards a little higher than most people's, but this salon is not one that I would recommend. read more

DON"T GO THERE. My mom and I went to go get our hair done. I got an OK cut (I have had better). This is my mom's first time dying her hair at a salon. She was covering gray hair, so she kept to the same color as her natural hair color. LYNN the cranky OLD lady dyed half her head then came back to do the other half, without explaining what her plan was. She got mad when my mom asked her why isn't her hair all dye. LYNN was RUDE and COLD. Lynn charged my mom extra for extra color. After my mom's hair was colored, cut, and blow dried....we could still see the all the gray hair. We talked to LYNN about it and she was so rude she said, "You can't even see the gray hair, you are just complaining because you want your money back." LYNN was so rude, mean, incompetent, know-it-all CRANKY old lady who shouldn't even be allowed to dye hair cause she can't even see. I then asked for a manager. I told her we were not satisfied. She said we can dye it again, but we were there for TWO hours already and we had no hope that they can do a better job. I WILL not return there. I do not recommend this place. read more

I unfortunately had to give this salon a one without even going there. I bought a groupon coupon for this salon for a Brazilian straightening for $99. I called to set up the appointment and when i did i explained to the receptionist i have had a really bad hair experience in the past please put me with someone that has been with the salon for several years. She did. I called the day of my appt to confirm the time and was told my appt was actually the next day at the same time. Curiosity made me ask the name of my stylist, and low and behold it was someone else. I asked why a diff stylist (someone new to the salon and explained again why i did not want a new person) and was told that the stylist i was originally scheduled with refused to do the treatment at such a reduced rate! ( i was literally horrified at that response, but said OK can you put me with someone else who has been there for a while?) she said yes that it would be in May and I said that is fine but i don't want to call the day in may to confirm my appointment and it is with someone else. There was no response, i told her i will call groupon and try to get my money back. they were more then pleased when i told them that i was able to cancel the coupon and get my money back ( i was told they got an overwhelming response from groupon) so the attitude of hey that's one customer loss was already set! unfortunately i will never go back to this salon and will not recommend this to anyone, WITHOUT even getting a service it is unfortunate it happened. I do not understand how a salon can offer a coupon through groupon and one stylist just makes her own rules and decides she does not want to do it at a discounted rate! Worst salon experience I've had in my life. I had a Groupon and thought I'd give the salon a try since they were close to my office, BIG MISTAKE. I arrived for my appointment on time and was still forced to wait 20-30 minutes to be seen by a stylist. The place was dirty and disorganized and the girls spent the whole time gossiping about each other which I thought was fairly unprofessional in front of a new client. My colorist did not cut hair so I had to see a different stylist to get my hair cut. The stylist who cut my hair hardly gave me the time of day and was too distracted by the fact that she was getting her own hair done at the same time. I have fairly long hair and asked for a new style with the same length (i.e. more layers to give it some body). I walked out with pretty much the same thing I walked in with, except for dry and styled hair. Or any hair style at all. Because apparently it is not common practice for them to style a client's hair prior to having them leave the salon. However, at that point I just wanted to get out so I didn't care. I stopped by the front desk prior to leaving but could not catch anyone's attention because they were all arguing about having to still be at work that late in the evening. I will not return to this salon ever again. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
