I made an appointment (with Grace) for a root touch up, hair cut, and blowout with waves. I found them online as I was coming in from out of town for a wedding. I was greeted at the door and desk with "Allies against Apartheid" stickers. I cannot tell you how much this made me feel welcome. Being from out of town, it can feel a little nerve wrecking knowing if you would feel comfortable. A business that stands up for human rights will always give me a feeling of welcome. I don't come as often as I should (sorry Madeline), so my hair usually needs a lot of work. And I always want something a little different so she has a new challenge every time. She always gets my hair color and cut EXACTLY how I want it, whether I have inspo pics or haphazardly describe the vibe I'm going for. She mixes her own blend of toner for me and it's the perfect color every time, whether I want warm blonde, strawberry blonde, icy, etc. It looks so natural and chic. She understands what you want even if you don't know the right lingo for the color/cut. Terrible haircuts here for two years and today I decided to end my appointments every 4 weeks. Single process color dye jobs barely ok except for ruining my sweatshirt or getting wet from the rinse job or missing areas and neck hairs repeatedly.. Then a month ago the receptionist asked me to post a review, which I didn't bother because I wasn't really happy, until this past visit when I asked for a trim. The whole experience was so bad, even after we discussed it for too long because the stylist, Grace, was not getting it. She told me the issue with my haircut was maybe because of menopause affecting my hair. Then she whacked into the disaster of a haircut. I had asked for a shorter layer starting above my nose and layers down to length at my shoulders. The classic "Rachel" haircut. I even sent her a video demonstrating the haircut for thin hair that I wanted 6 months ago, but she didn't really incorporate the techniques then so apparently she can't learn new skills. All she did this time was whine about not being able to layer the top, then just cut off the bottom 3 inches. I was left with 3 inch long stragglers hanging down my neck that she missed with the straight across cut near the nape of my neck. I can't even put it in a decent ponytail, and forget about a french twist. Pathetic. Then when I called the shop to complain my number was blocked. So that's how they responded to my complaints. I guess the owner doesn't care about my $128 every 4 weeks, and neither does Grace. Hope you understand why I am not giving you another penny (but I doubt your comprehension skills are good enough) and I definitely do not recommend this salon. read more

I got my hair done here and asked for a full balayage. My hair looks good but not even with the highlights. I had to go to another salon later on to get it fixed (spending a ton to get what I actually wanted by having to go to two salons) There was an issue with pricing (charging more in their favor with no clear reason) I got a quote for the service and then when I got the service done I was charged way more. The stylist said something along the lines of "I don't remember what I quoted you for but I'll charge you this because I think that is what I quoted you for" and when I went back home I saw my sheet that had the quote on it and realized I was upcharged for no reason. I came in for a haircut the week before my service to show them I have thick hair and they booked me with extra time and included that in my original quote knowing that I would need extra time and product. Then now say that they charged me more because they needed extra time and product. Overcharged and uneven highlights. I did need to go to another salon to eventually fix it. It looked good when styled a certain way but when I looked through my hair there were some areas that were completely undone. The staff is kind, salon is clean and nice location with good parking available...but pricing is not clear and I felt discriminated against because I have thicker hair. I was upfront about my hair type and I was charged with the stylist not even knowing what she originally quoted me for. I forgot my card with the quote on it because I thought they had kept file of it but they don't. It doesn't make sense that they would charge me extra when the stylist didn't even know the original quoted amount. How would they know what they are charging me extra on when the original price was not even remembered... When I contacted them about this, the price difference was not honored. and I got no reply to my last email. They charge more based on when they want to, not what's fair. read more

First time getting my haircut here and I am so impressed with this salon and with my hairdresser Celeste! I donated my hair and she made the whole process so enjoyable and I am in LOVE with my new haircut. The salon is so clean, their products are amazing and smell great, and I loved how welcomed I felt from the staff and Celeste. Celeste took the time to show me how to curl my hair (yes I'm 27 and still haven't mastered it). I had many issues with this salon. It wasn't just the stylist, or management or pricing/ policies. Here's what happened. I came to Blushing Beauty as a new client looking for a haircut and full foil. They require all new clients to come first for a consultation and hair cut then a separate appointment for the coloring. On 8/23 for a I went in for my first appointment with stylist Ashely. I asked for a long bob with some small layers on the bottom and some angles around my face. Which is not what I got, at all. The haircut was choppy and all over the place! Different layers everywhere and way too short in the front. Each side of my head looked different!! (PLEASE SEE PICTURES before, first cut, and second) I realized when I got home just how bad it was. I tried to wash and style it but nothing helped. I emailed BBS and they called me back quickly and apologized. I told them how upset I really was, in actual tears! I sent them pictures as well and they admitted to how bad it looked. The manager Rebecca gave me a full refund and asked if I wanted to come in so they could try and fix it. I requested to have a different stylist and went back the next day to see if anything could be done. I didn't think they could fix it but was sure that it couldn't get any worse. * I will add that Ashely was very nice and I did a lot of research on this salon and her work. It all seemed so great. I understand people have bad days and make mistakes. It was the overall experience that turned me totally off to BBS. The next day I went in and saw Megan. She was very apologetic and did everything she could to help me. But this haircut is still awful. There really wasn't much she could do, though she did make it significantly better! The receptionist or manager (not sure which) I spoke with was not concerned with how bad this haircut was and how upset I was. They only thing she asked me was if I wanted to cancel or reschedule my appointment for the foil. She asked me this before Megan "fixed" my hair so I was slightly insulted. You hadn't even fixed the last service I got here (which you botched) and now you want me to come back in 3 days and pay $190 for a foil? No. The pricing was my other problem even before I got the "haircut." They charged me $92 for the haircut/consultation/ hair cleanse (that's with 20% tip included) which they make all new clients do and then wanted me to come back and pay $190 (tip not included)for a full foil?? On your website it quotes $142 for a haircut and full foil but I guess that's only for returning clients. Is there a benefit to charging new clients more??? OVERALL I had a really bad experience here. The hair cut is terrible. It's going to take me months to grow this back and I can't even get all the hair in a pony tail. Megan was great and did the best she could. I was unimpressed with how management treated me when I came in for the fix. I've seen all the good reviews and pictures from this salon. There's a damn good reason that Blushing Beauty was voted #2 salon in Cleveland (though they easily could/should be #1). I chose Blushing Beauty Salon based off their Yelp reviews and the fact that they are located across the street from one of my favorite cafes, Brewella's (and therefore, had been on my mind). I booked an appointment online with Ashley. I loved being able to book online and pick an appointment that fit my schedule. Luckily, someone cancelled and I was able to squeeze in rather quickly in advance of needing to take a photo for a local magazine. To be honest, it has been a long time since I properly had a hair cut. My hair wasn't as healthy as it could have been. Ashley didn't make me feel bad about it at all. She is so talented, receptive to her clients and a genuinely fun person! Ashley made me feel confident and beautiful. Inside the salon, the vibe reminds me of Oliver Gal - luxe, contemporary minimalism in feminine colors. Its hard not to feel happy! Upon checkout, I learned about their rewards program, which ranges in point values from pre-booking your appointment online to referring a friend. Also love how she did my bangs which I'm picky about but I would return just for that! Mari is an angel! Every time I visit she gives me tips (how to do a blow out myself, how to have long hair ponytails that don't give you a headache, how to part your hair for vavavoom Volume, etc). I leave not only with a FANTASTIC style and cut, but also richer for the experience. I was so nervous to donate my hair and cut it (this was months ago), but she was patient and kind (like always!) And now I loveeee my short hair. She's also genuinely such an empathetic and sweet person, and that energy is all throughout the salon with every stylist. You'll feel so comfortable and welcome no matter who you book with, and I'm willing to bet there is no salon with more talented people than this one. What can I say about Blushing beauty? Today was exactly what I needed. From start to finish they were all incredibly sweet. I felt at home and relaxed. They distracted me from something I didn't think was possible! Not only was I getting my hair done. I was watching Netflix and relaxing as well. I lost my best friend of 18 years yesterday. I moved here from LA about 4 years ago and have been searching for the right hairdresser ever since. I found Blushing Beauty here on Yelp and liked the positive reviews, close location, and current promotional discount. I had my cousin's wedding in 2 weeks and needed a color and cut ASAP. Mari was able to get me in for an appointment the Tuesday evening before the wedding. To be honest, I came in with some pretty rough hair- thanks to a bad habit of back and forth blonde to brunette... and back again. Despite that- Mari was able to take me to a pretty light blonde with minimal damage (thanks Olaplex!!) she also treated me to a courtesy repair treatment a week later- just to be safe. Everyone at the salon was sweet and personable - without being annoying. In terms of price, Blushing Beauty is a happy medium. As one of the other reviews said: you get what you pay for.
