I just moved to the area a couple weeks ago and I knew I needed to get my hair cut but, like anyone would be, I was worried about finding a new hair stylist. My first impression of the place was, that it had an interesting name, friendly staff, and it was clean/organized. Mary was my hair stylist and she was very friendly and personable. She made my hair look better than it did when I first ventured to cut it from long to short. I didn't think it was possible, but she did it. Not only was the staff friendly, but the customers were as well. Overall, two thumbs up for this place. I highly recommend Mary to get your hair done. She did highlights, cut, and style on my hair and it all came out perfect. read more

I was profoundly disappointed with the Salon's unprofessional behavior surrounding an appointment. I was left in tears after a recent interaction and will never go back. If you choose this salon, do so with the understanding that your appointments will be cancelled last minute(a few hours for me) with complete and utter disregard to your needs as a client. Today was my second visit to this salon, and I am certain that Megan Southard will be my regular, permanent stylist. This salon is so cozy, and as soon as anyone walks in, they are immediately greeted and offered a beverage or snack. The space is so relaxing. Take a look at my photos; who wouldn't want to spend time in this comfortable coastal vibe? And the parking lot has a few spots that are shaded by tall pine trees, which is a huge plus when the summer sun heats things up. Megan has cut and colored my long hair, and I love what she does. Very quality work at a very reasonable rate, which works for me because then I have more money to tip her well because she deserves it. I am looking forward to working with the aesthetician here as well. I don't need hair extensions, but this salon appears to specialize in that, so if in the Surf City area and in need of extensions, start here. I can't say enough nice things about how relaxing of an experience it is to spend time in this salon and how comfortable the shampoo bowl chairs are. I was able to make an appointment for a cut for my 6-year old fairly quickly, but the salon didn't delivery after that. Her appointment was rescheduled - okay, well enough. We came directly from summer camp and her hair was in long braids. I told them this would be the case when they rescheduled. The "stylist" that served her did not wash or wet her hair and she cut it straight across the back rather in segment it in quadrants. The result is a chop job. She's a beautiful little girl wearing a hack hair cut that I could have given her at home. I'm very disappointed. read more

had a great color/blow out first appointment with Hailey. highly recommend this salon. front desk very well run. great scheduling opportunities both on line and over the phone. they contact you electronically when a cancellation spot becomes available. Salon is decorated in a very eclectic and fun way with lots of rooms so everyone is nicely spread out . Hailey was as nice as can be and did a great job. The first time I came to this salon I had such a good experience. So I decide to make an appointment and get my hair done. So I made my appointment, and show up ten minutes early (as I value her time). My stylist took somebody else in, minutes before my appointment... WHY? I stayed there without knowing this till some nice lady told me " sorry for the wait" I ask her how long more was going to take since I had been waiting for 40 minutes past my appointment time... She asks Gabrielle Szasz (the stylist) and she said, " I don't know when I'm going to be done..." (kinda rude way) So I ask if she just started to dry the client's hair (because I probably will wait if she is almost done) and yes she just started... this probably was going to take another 30 to 40 minutes more... it makes no sense to make an appointment if you have to wait more than 40 minutes... I respect always my stylist's time but I want this as well... This was so unprofessional and disrespectful to clients, including myself... and I thought I had found the perfect hair salon. read more

I get my hair trimmed by Janel Poole at this salon :) They listen to what your end goal is that you want done to your hair, use exceptional products, great atmosphere without high-end salon prices, very affordable, my hair came out silky and healthy! First I must say that I have never used the services of this salon. My daughter goes there. So...for a special Christmas present this year I called the salon and asked if they have gift certificates. They do, so I ordered one. This was on December 13. I requested that they mail it to me at my home address. The lady was not certain how to do it so she had her boss call me for my credit card information. I place the order and gave my mailing address and e-mail address. On Dec. 17 I called concerned because I had not received the gift certificate. The lady said she did not know if it had been mailed or not, so I said I would wait another day or two. On Friday the 21st of December I called the salon again to ask if it had been sent as I still had not received it. The woman on the phone told me that it had NOT been mailed. I was furious and loudly told the woman that it was too late now because we were celebrating Christmas a day early to allow all of our family members to be together. The lady hung up on me because I was so angry. Later the owner called me and said she would e-mail me a photo and I could give that to my daughter. Well, by then I had called my credit card company and stopped payment. The owner called two more times leaving one more message. Today when I told my daughter about why I was giving her cash instead of a gift certificate, my daughter told me that someone at the salon had e-mailed my daughter with the information about the card and wished her a happy birthday. Now, this is a colossal screw-up!!!!!! First, they didn't mail the card, then they sent an e-mail to my daughter telling everything and then wishing her a happy birthday!!!! OMG...could this have been any worse??? I find this whole thing unforgivable...too many excuses and too many screw ups from on place. How can anybody run a business and be this unprofessional??? Thanks for ruining my surprise and my gift! You will NEVER be forgiven - this is just too much wrongdoing. read more

I came into Salon Blue as a new client, so I was apprehensive. Mary greeted me right away and began noticing lots of mistakes and issues in my hair color. I originally came in to just to get highlights, but the more she dug into my hair, the more I realized my last hair stylist really messed up my hair. I had strands & chunks of hair that were tiedye! Mary went above and beyond, not only put highlights in my hair like I originally wanted, she did low lights and a color correction. She would not let me leave the salon until my hair was perfect and had beautiful color. 4.5 hours later, I walked out of that salon feeling the most confident I have in a long time. Mary really not only fixed my hair, but boosted my confidence. She is a miracle worker!! 5 stars and thank you Mary!!! read more
