I had an appointment for permanent hair straightening with Irma. I am happy with how my hair looks but I am not happy with the actual experience. While Irma was washing my hair out, she accidentally got the entire back of my shirt and bra soaking wet - (despite the fact I had 2 towels and the cape on). She did feel bad and apologized but when I mentioned it to the front desk, the response I got was "I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, that can happen sometimes." I cannot believe that was the response I got. For a first year cosmetology student, maybe, but for a stylist with over a decade of hair styling experience?! This should never happen at all. And the fact that this service was so expensive just makes it that much more shocking. Yes, they put my shirt in the dryer so I did have a shirt to wear when I left. But my bra was still soaking wet and again, this just shouldn't be happening when you go to get any hair service period. Second, Irma brushed and combed through my hair so aggressively and I don't understand why. She literally started at the top and ripped through my hair multiple times. I understand if she was not able to put in a leave in or detangler because that would interfere with the chemicals penetrating my hair. But I have no idea why she wouldn't at least try to be gentle and work her way from the bottom up. I just washed and blow dried my hair and I am happy with how it looks. However, the overall experience makes me question if I will come back. It makes me sad to leave this review because Irma was a very kind woman and she knows what she's doing when it comes to the hair straightening process. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. read more

I've been a client of the owner Sam for years and have consistently been going back for the past two years for coloring and cuts. The salon staff are extremely welcoming and friendly; especially her daughter who works at the front desk, Marissa and Sammy two other stylists, and Ernie the salon manager. They get to know their clients on a personal level and make them feel like they're there for more than just a service. I always love how my hair looks when I leave and have never been disappointed. I have recommended the salon to numerous friends and family members and have brought people to the salon to book appointments with mine so we can make it a relaxing pampering day together. Sam and Sammy were even able to do our hair for my brother's wedding, which was such a great experience. read more

The gentleman at the front desk had good customer service skills. Samnang Keo, who cut my short hair, did not. Never smiled, no warmth, no welcome. I could excuse all this if the cut was good. It was okay. Not great. And even after I told her I didn't usually use product, she put it on. She didn't back off and ask more as she should have. Also, when I booked my appointment online and clicked on, "short cut", I received an email saying my cut would cost $55. At check out it was explained that a "short cut" is a buzz cut and they were going to charge me $85. Fortunately, the guy at the front desk gave me a $20 first time customer discount. read more

I made an appointment at this salon on a whim because I had some time before visiting a friend in the area. I saw Sopheap "Sophie" and had a FANTASTIC experience! She was very attentive during our consultation, offering ideas and asking for my approval before doing any cutting. I asked for an all over trim with long layers and face framing. Found a Groupon and I was in the area so I decided the deal for a haircut was too good to pass up. The service was phenomenal. Natalia is detailed, kind and takes pride in her work. I was very impressed by the salon in general, the level of professionalism and the cleanliness/decor. If I lived in the area, this would be my regular spot! I got a deep conditioning treatment as well and that did wonders for my hair before the cut. Natalia is seriously the best and I wish I could take her back to N.Y. with me. They use Moroccan oil or goldwell products which is very important to me. I use Moroccan oil religiously and respect salons who appreciate the quality of using them. This is such a terrific salon--bright and clean. Easy parking too. More importantly, they provide superior service! Samnang knows how to cut my fine hair to make it seem fuller and style it beautifully. She really understands color and does wonders with highlights, low lights and other processes I don't even know the names of. My hair changes from season to season, sun exposure etc especially as I get more grey, so I totally trust her to work with my hair. The hair products are top notch. I had a terrible experience at a salon about a week ago and had received the worst haircut of my life. My mother goes here regularly so she suggested that I try Salon De Cinzia to get it fixed. I had the stylist Krysta (sorry if I spelled it wrong) she was amazing cheerful talkative super helpful and to top it off I walked out with the best haircut of my life!!! Thank you for fixing my hair last minute before my trip!!! I love it and have gotten soooooooo many compliments it's absolutely crazy!!!! I wanted to share a great experience I had with Dominique, Make-up Artist Extrodinaire! I'm one of those people who has had my makeup 'done' 6 times and every time immediately went home to wash it off. I decided for my sons wedding to give it one more try and I am so pleased with the amazing result that Dominique provided. She listened carefully to what I like and don't like, the look I was hoping to achieve (10 years younger!) and was so wonderful to fine tune the look based on my feedback towards the end of the session. She is truly a talented artist and so diplomatic and determined to make her clients happy! The salon itself is very cute. My hairstylist was nice, but this is about it. I went in with a groupon for a balayage. Halfway through the appointment I find out that I have to pay 35 extra for the actual color. Who charges for a balayage but does not include the color/toner?? I have had this process done a few other times and it has never been the case that I pay for just the bleaching/lightening! After I pay the extra 35 bucks and my hair toned, it makes no difference! I left the salon with very few, reddish highlights, when I went in looking for a lighter, softer blonde balayage. These people will charge you extra whenever they feel like it what whatever they feel like charging you for, and in the end, you don't even get what you want. Not worth it. read more

I want to start off by saying that I have had a great experience here in the past, but I have also had one that will make me NEVER come back. I went to this salon on a recommendation from one of my roommates when I moved to Boston. I've gotten great color jobs done here, but I asked my stylist to cut my hair also once, and she sort of ruined my hair. I asked for a chin length, choppy, edgy bob - what I got was quite a bit shorter, extremely asymmetrical from front to back, and just poorly done. The front had one small section that was about an inch longer than anything else around it, so I went home and tried to fix the front and my roommates all agreed that it looked better when I cut it. It just wasn't what I asked for, and it was so short that I couldn't even put it up to distract from how terrible it really was. I wanted something edgy and fun and what I got was a "mom bob". I specifically said from the beginning of the appointment I wanted to avoid the "mom bob" and keep it fresh and stylish. I went home for the holidays and made an appointment to get a balayage with my stylist from before. She was horrified by my hair cut. She asked me where I had gotten it done and told me to never go back there because all the layers were completely uneven, as well as my hair itself being longer on the left than the right. And I see it, too. I can't wear my hair fully down even now, 6 months into growing out this awful bob, because it's full of layers that are obvious, choppy, and ultimately leave more weight at the top of my hair, which she should have known to avoid since I have very thick hair. (even I knew that!) I will not be going back to this salon because I am probably going to have to spend the next year or so growing out these layers until I can cut all my hair to one length and forget this tragedy ever happened. I haven't had the best luck finding a salon I would go back to due to not getting the results I was looking for and today had some great luck at Salon De Cinzia. Instead of spending money on a color/haircut I don't like I decided to give Groupon a shot and had a great experience.I showed the stylist named Natalia some pictures of a color I was looking for and the final result was close to par. Natalia gave me an excellent balayage and was very sweet which was a nice change for many stylists. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone that lives in the Boston area and for a good color/cut ask for Natalia who is definitely very skilled. read more

Kat does an incredible job cutting hair. Last week she cut 12+ inches off my 12 year old's hair (her choice) and totally transformed her. It's amazing what a great haircut can do for a girl's self esteem. She couldn't walk past a mirror without looking at herself in awe. I got my haircut today and I feel glamorous. I have to completely disagree with Ray R.'s review. I also had my hair cut by Katt and it is the best cut I have ever had. I have very curly hair. Katt gave me a great cut and a great blow out. I was nervous to to wash my hair after the cut because it always looks different when it is curly than when it is blown out straight, but it looks fantastic curly as well! I LOVED this salon. Since i'm not from around here, I was nervous to try any new salons in case I didn't like the end result. I was definitely wrong with this one. Lisa cut and styled my hair to perfection. I wanted it to look up-to-date but with a bit of an edge and she did just that. They even stayed open a bit later than usual (they close earlier on Saturdays, I believe) just to accomodate me. They're reasonably priced too (cuts start at $50, which is great in comparison to most salons in the same class)! I would definitely recommend this salon to everyone! read more

I had a great haircut here with Erin recently. It was my first time at the salon. She is very nice and did an excellent job. They even gave me a welcome present with bumble and bumble products in it. I asked how much just a wash and blow out would be next time if I didn't get a cut and it is $40. I thought maybe it would be less that would be nice if it were less than the blowdry bars. I moved from the UK to Boston about 9 weeks ago and was dreading having to find a new hairdresser but I had nothing to fear when I came across this salon. I booked an appointment with Erin, as soon as I arrived I felt very welcome and was put completely at ease. Erin listened to how I wanted my hair, she was very friendly and the end result was AMAZING! I have to admit that usually when I had my hair cut and blow dried back home in th UK I would usually go home and re do my hair but not here, I absolutely loved the cut and the way Erin blew dried my hair. I went to see Sokha after my hair was butchered by a Korean stylist (I thought a Korean would be more familiar with my hair type and texture). I have now seen Sokha twice and must say that she does a lovely job. She takes her time cutting hair wet, then dries it, and touches it up. When I moved from NYC, I didn't think I'd be able to find anything that was on par with my exorbitantly priced but awesome haircuts. I tried Newbury Street and really wasn't impressed. For the price, I think Sokha is great. read more

I went into Salon De Cinzia for the first time today & met with Maria. Everyone was very warm and welcoming. My hair is super curly and after going a few months without getting it cut it wasn't looking too pretty....Maria completely transformed me :) She made me look & feel beautiful with the fresh, up to date style she gave me. She explained everything she was doing, & gave me great styling tips as well :) She didn't even have to take off as much length as I figured & it still came out great, and I'm super happy :) I will definately be back!
