Salon di Moda has a great atmosphere, and the stylists are fantastic at what they do. It opened about 16 years ago and has stuck around flawlessly. There are about 10(?) stylists, and they seem tightknit, like a family. They cut, color, updo, pretty much anything hair-related for men and women. I started going to this salon about 2 years ago; in fact I went the day of the Papal visit. My workplace in Philly was shut down, so I decided to use the free day to treat myself to a haircut. I had gone to another local salon, but I wanted a change. I learned about this salon on their website and through reviews and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did! Salon Di Moda is a great place to get your haircut. As a teenage boy I was a little hesitant to go to a salon because I thought I would've been seen as girly and they would've looked at me funny. However, I was wrong. From the moment I stepped foot in the salon everyone was extremely friendly and I felt very comfortable. My stylist talked with me for a good 10 minutes before starting to cut my hair and it felt like she actualcared about my haircut. This was a big change from the old barbershops I had tried in the past. In total I was really happy with my experience and I'm going to get my haircut here from now on. read more

The website says "$25+" for men and since my son's hair cut was nothing unusual, I taken aback by the up charge. Their explanation: $35 is the price for males 12 and older. Overall the salon treated me very well! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Phong took amazing care of me. I went in really upset about my hair. Salon Di Moda is a relaxed atmosphere that delivers the very best services. When you walk in you are always greeted by name and welcomed in like an old friend. Laura has been my stylist for over 20 years and I always walk out looking and feeling like a million bucks. She always listens to what I want and when I am unsure she knows me well enough to give me a style and color that works for me. LOVED my experience at Salon Di Moda! I am usually really picky with my hair and usually cut my bangs myself, but I decided to give Salon Di Moda a try and had an awesome experience! I called and was able to easily book an appointment for later on that day, which I was very pleased about seeing as it was a Friday. When I walked into the salon, the woman who I presume was the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The hair wash/scalp massage felt oh so good! I had my hair cut by Becca, who did an awesome job! I'd recommend her in a heartbeat. After my hair was mostly dried, I decided I still wanted some more cut off my bangs and wanted them more fuller. She did exactly as I asked and my hair came out looking and feeling AMAZING! Honestly couldn't believe the price for such a great job at such a professional salon. Only downside is that they only take cash tips, which I was bummed about because I only had my credit card. But I was so pleased with my service I walked down the street quite a ways until I found a place that would give me cash back so I could tip Becca for the awesome job she did. So, in short, DEFINITELY give Salon di Moda a try! They'll do an awesome job, the stylist will consult with you before you head out for a hair wash, and they're so friendly and use great products! I went to Salon Di Moda the other day after finding it on yelp since it's nearby where I live. I was in desperate need to get rid of my split ends and change up my hair style. I've always just had long straight hair and I was bored of it. Phong Huynh was amazing! I asked her to just do whatever she thought would be best for my hair and face, and she nailed it; she gave me layers and angles that frame my face. Plus my hair is so much healthier without the dead ends. Everyone keeps complimenting my new haircut and I love it! Not only was Phong great, but everyone in the salon was super friendly and welcoming as well. It's a great social environment. It's pretty normal pricing for salons, they are never cheap, but this was so worth it. Definitely would recommend! read more

As someone who comes from a family of cosmetologists, I have always taken care of my hair. I went to Salon Di Moda for approximately 6 months, during which time I had my hair colored monthly and my hair cut every other month. However, I stopped going to Salon Di Moda after the stylist over-processed my hair, which caused large clumps of my hair to fall out. It has been 10 months since this experience, and I am still working to bring my hair back to health. I had to cut 7 inches of my hair off and have not had any color on my hair since the debacle. Multiple cosmetologists have told me it will take at least one more year for my hair to return to health and at least 1.5 years before it should be colored or chemically treated again. I highly recommend avoiding Salon Di Moda. There are many salons in the area with more professional and qualified stylists. read more

I had been getting highlights done at a different salon (after bouncing between several others) and was used to it being a sort of gamble every time. When I came to Salon di Moda, it was in that semi-desperate state of hoping someone could fix a job that had left me feeling particularly self-conscious. That someone was Jackie, and she not only knew exactly how to correct the situation, right there and then--she gave me the best color I've ever had, with beautiful, natural dimension and with incredible efficiency. Now I look forward to getting my highlights redone, because I know the results will be exactly what I'm hoping for every time, leaving me feeling like a better representation of myself. My hair looks natural as it grows out between visits, the color is precisely what I'm aiming for each time (she listens, and she knows just what I mean even when I can't articulate it well), it stays that way for weeks, and I'm usually in and out in two hours, even for full highlights and a trim (plus, it's actually cheaper than at my old place, where half the time I left feeling less like myself). The salon itself is classy without being stressful, and I've never had a problem getting an appointment or with any other step along the way. But seriously: Jackie is why I'm writing. She's amazing. This review is very long overdue. I've been coming to Salon Di Moda for a few months now. I'm very lucky to have Samantha as my stylist. When I first walked in, I think it was in September, I had bright fuchsia hair with black roots. At some point, I had bleached random streaks through my hair, then one day I decided to put some horrible hot pink dye in there. By the time I got to Salon Di Moda, it had grown out a bit and was a weird patchy melange of colors. It hadn't been cut (other than by myself) in quite some time. Straggly would be a nice way of describing it. My hair had also recently become quite dry and brittle, and let's just say overall I was a big ol' mess. I said to Samantha "I want to be blonde!" Sam smiled and calmly explained it wasn't going to work quite that way. The evil pink had to be dealt with first, then gradually, highlights could be added. She was very patient with me and explained everything so well. She wanted to do it right, and I appreciated that. Despite my disappointment that I wasn't walking out of there blonde, I was truly transformed that day. My hair was healthy, shiny, soft, and the cut was so flattering. I cried. Seriously, I was just so overwhelmed. This woman didn't just do my hair, she took care of me. Also, everyone else whom I've ever interacted with at the salon has been so very kind and accommodating. As the process continued, every visit was better and better. Finally some highlights were added. They looked great! Then more... then more. I really appreciate that Sam wanted to take a gradual approach and I think it allowed the health of my hair to improve in the meantime. I've just come from my 5th or 6th visit with Sam, and my hair is blonde in a way I never really dreamed possible. The color is amazing. Again, it feels so soft and healthy. I've gotten so many compliments. Samantha is truly an artist. She is very talented, and you can tell she loves what she does. And on top of all that she is very sweet too! Got a brand new haircut (pixie!) from Carolyn on 11/21/13. She was very nice, chatty, and attentive to what I wanted. She did a good job and I love my haircut! The place was a bit pricy ($60) but I'm ok with that because I did have a dramatic hair change and she did a good job. I went to a different place yesterday to get a trim since I couldn't get in here, but comparing the two places, I would have much preferred to come back here. I had a hard time finding a wig and went to Salon de Moda to try on wigs. At first the people were very accomidating and offered a deal on one of their wigs but I was undecided about getting it and ended up ordering a wig on the book. After the second visit where I tried on the wig for fun the people in the store not just told me that I vould not do that which is ratoonal but they labeled me wig girl. A year later I went to the store to buy a new wig and the secretary said it was by appointment only which was not how it was when I first entered the store to ask about the wigs. She kept setting up appoinrmebrs but one of the workers in the store erased my name twice. Then I learnex their wigs were overpriced because I have ordered much better quality wigs online for less. So if you have some medical problem involving hair loss dont go to Salon de Moda. That is a snobby and unprofessional place. read more
