I have been going here a few times a year now for the past 4 years and always have a great experience. It's nice to finally have a reliable place for my hair needs after years of trying random places. It is a bit further from my house but I think the trip is worth it. I ask for Kelly and she does an amazing job with coloring my hair. I've gotten a balayage from her as well as highlights and the color lasts for such a long time. She does a very thorough job and really takes her time with you, while staying extremely professional and also very sweet. I am also satisfied with my haircuts by Kelly as she can always pull off whatever style I ask for. The salon is very clean and cozy and they're great at offering tea/coffee/water while you wait to be seen. This is my favorite salon. When I was looking for a new salon, my plan was to try different Groupons and then see which place I liked best. Salon DP Lorana was the first one and I never went anywhere else. (This was about 10 years ago!). I regularly get perms from the owner Donna and she must be magical because they last longer than any other perms I've ever gotten. When I go for cut and color I usually go to Jillian but if she isn't available I have had other stylists do my hair. It literally doesn't matter which stylist it is - they are all terrific. They did hair and makeup for me and my daughter for her Bat Mitzvah (twice - once for pictures and once for the event itself). What impressed me most and the reason I didn't try any where else is because of the professionalism. It is obvious that Donna provides ongoing training opportunities for the stylists so they are up on all the latest trends. I highly recommend this salon! read more

I've been here about three times, but this will be my last. I asked for mushroom brown balayage (and showed a picture). I was a bit taken back when I saw that my hair was closer to blonde! Nothing about this color was close to mushroom brown. I was already there for 6 hours at this point asked to get my hair darker, and ended up with a bronze color (similar to honeycomb). Sadly, I had to lie and say I was fine with it because at this point I was tired and it was almost 8pm (started at 1230p). This mess was $400 which is outrageous but I didn't have the energy to fight it. If anyone does go here, please only go to Amanda. I should have called and rescheduled with her. Sadly, she was booked and I ended up with Barbara. Sweet person, but not sure if she knows how to do trendier colors. Also, Donna (the owner) is absolutely rude to the assistants. I almost told her something, but felt it would be better to say it publicly here so she can work on how she talks to her staff when people are at her salon. I went here because I got a Groupon and boy was I glad I did! I had an appointment but called and was able to come in earlier. I was treated like a queen by Nicolette. I got a color and cut and she was careful to ascertain exactly what I wanted. She did a wonderful job of updating my hairdo and making sure I knew how to care for it. Originally discovered this place through Groupon - lucky pick! Extremely friendly service and nice interior, offering water/coffee. I go to Kelly and I usually get blonde highlights for summer or with toner for a warm look in winter, long layers, and a blow out. I'm a natural brunette with thick, dry hair (from processing over the years). Kelly does a wonderful job maintaining it and allowing me to walk out of the salon in style without a flat iron touching it. My highlights always look naturally blended, and the cut always falls nicely into place (not chopped or triangular as some places have cursed me with prior). Happy I can finally say I have found a salon that cares about the customer's outcome and does not overcharge for processes if it's really not needed! My mom started going here and I loved her hair by Amanda. I live out of state but was visiting my hometown so my mom got me a cut and color for my birthday with Amanda. My color was gorgeous. I loved it so much that I went back again when visiting and let Amanda cut my hair on the shorter side. This is a VERY big deal as I have never let anyone cut my hair short even after many years of going. I received so many compliments and felt like a million bucks. I was happy that they called to see whether I wanted to reschedule or go with a different stylist... Some salons would just let you know when you arrived. Came here for a cut, wash, and blowout. I scheduled an appointment extremely last minute and was lucky there were others that had cancelled due to the weather. Everyone working there was very sweet from hanging my jacket for me to offering me coffee and tea. The salon felt cozy and was clean. I'm going to call this a hidden gem. I found a groupon and decided to spontaneously try it out. I was previously going to Ulta, but wasn't able to get an appointment for several weeks (and let's face it, I leave my hair until the last possible moment before an event). So I took a chance, and now I've found my new favorite place. Kelly dyed, cut, and styled my hair. I've been waiting for someone to get the color just the right shade for a long time and it finally happened. The most nerve wracking thing is getting a cut. I originally booked an appointment with Amanda but got rescheduled for some reason with the owner. I used the Groupon for a partial highlight and cut. I've been getting my hair done for a while now so I made sure it would turn out how I wanted. Thankfully it did, the color was fine but the cut could've been better. What I really didn't appreciate was the EXCESSIVE product pushing from the owner. I couldn't believe it. Every other sentence she said was referencing buying some product. She kept saying how I'm making a huge investment on my hair and need to maintain it with good products. I told her I'd think about it. When I asked her to look at the products, she was very hesitant and said she'd leave a gift bag of all the products at the front desk. Are you kidding me? If you really cared about the aftercare of my hair let me see the products!! I managed to see them and bought it all on Amazon anyway. Another annoying thing was the owner kept bragging about her work and how her salon was rated one of the best. This wasn't just once, it was continuous. I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone. I am normally not one to write bad reviews or complain, however, I was so unhappy with this experience that I felt other people should be aware of my experience with Salon DP LoRana. I went on GroupOn in search of a new favorite salon, I found Salon DP LoRana's deal of $25 for a haircut, conditioning treatment, and blowout. Typically I will find places on GroupOn and if I like them, I'll continue to go to them paying full price. However, I would never go back here even if it were $0. I made my appointment over the phone saying I had the coupon and the receptionist asked me how long my hair was. I told her my hair was a little past my chest area and she replied, "We charge extra for long hair but you're mid length so you should be okay." As soon as I walked into the salon, I was greeted by the salon owner and manager - Donna. She asked me what I was doing today and I told her I had a groupon for the haircut, conditioning treatment, and blow out. Then she asked me, "Ok well, what are you going to do with that color?" I got highlights a few months ago, which were grown out and a little bit brassier than normal. I told her I was thinking about getting it toned and asked her how much it would be. She said to me, "Yeah you really need a new color or at least a tone. That is really bad. Like really bad. You need like a complete transformation. You really need it done. You have a lot of hair so it's gonna be $45 for just a tone. Also you have long hair so that's an extra $25. A lot of people don't know it's extra but it's there. It's written on the GroupOn." The receptionist over the phone told me my hair wasn't considered "long" so I did not need to pay the extra charges and I have never been charged extra for "long hair" at other salons. I was a bit thrown off, however, I didn't argue with this $25 fee that doubled the price I initially thought I had to pay. I decided that I didn't want to have the toner done today, so I tell the owner that, and she replies, "What is it? You don't have the money? You really need it. Your hair is really bad." I continued to tell her that I just wanted a quick haircut today and I can come back another day for a tone, and she continued to insult my hair and push on me that I needed to have this tone done. Finally, after I said "no, thank you" multiple times to getting it toned, my hair stylist Yolanda came to do my hair. I was just glad to finally end this tiring conversation with the owner about how terrible my hair looked and how they could transform my hair. Yolanda was very sweet and asked me multiple times how I wanted to get my cut done which I thought was nice because she really cared about my opinion. Despite how much I liked her as a person, I can't say I was happy with my hair results. Ultimately, she did not listen to what I told her and it ended as just a mediocre haircut, definitely not worth the $60 I ended up paying (with tip). I told her I wanted a straight cut with a thin, long layer just so when I put my hair up, it's not too choppy. However, I ended up getting multiple layers in my hair. The stylist also thinned out the bottom of my hair and told me since I have heavy hair, she thought it would look good. She didn't ask me if I wanted my hair thinned out - which I definitely did not want. She also cut two inches more than I showed her which was upsetting because she had asked me 3 times how long I wanted it to be exactly. She initially cut my hair and I thought she was done because she started to style my hair with a blowdryer. But after styling my hair, she continued to cut more sections and then styled again then cut again. The result of her process of cutting, styling, cutting, styling, cutting made my hair look fine when I left - but the next day - when the blowout had flattened, you could tell the haircut was uneven with random long bits throughout the bottom. At the very end, when she was finally done cutting my hair - almost 2 hours later. The owner came by to tell me how amazing my hair looked and how it looked a million times better. Even though, I did NOT touch the "disastrous" color I have. The best part of this experience was when I got to finally leave. I told her i want a layer cut but what i got was a u cut just trimming off the length i want to get rid off. I went to this salon earlier this year with a Groupon ($32 for conditioning treatment, haircut, and blowout). I was notified after making my appointment that depending on my hair length I may be charged extra. The receptionist said if this was the case my stylist will inform me. My stylist did inform me, but she informed me AFTER everything was done. She never said a word to me about charging me extra until I was getting up out of the chair to leave. Not only was I informed at the end but it was a $20 surcharge. My hair was not very long/thick (average thickness and just past my mid back) and the entire 3-step process took about 45 mins. The haircut was a 2 inch trim with no special shaping (just straight) and legit took the stylist 10 mins (the fastest haircut I ever got btw). Paid $52 bucks in the end. Not bad but not much of a discount. I would have felt better about the experience if she informed me before she started doing my hair read more

Got my hair cut and blow dried with Kim using a group on .. Kim did a great job.. and the salon itelself was very nice. I was a little annoyed how I was charged an extra 20 dollars 'for length' by the owner when my hair is just under my shoulders and she probably cut off a Max of 1.5 inches . I have very very fine hair and average length hair so taking an extra 20 seemed like just they were just taking advantage of their fine print policy.. I've never once been asked to pay for extra length . When I made the appointment, the receptionist did warn me that they do this, but she also assured me it was for really long hair. I came with and exact picture of what I wanted and they gave me a hard time about my choice. And said if I wanted to get picked up at the jersey shore that's what I should go with. I recently purchased a Groupon for a cut, color, conditioning treatment and blow out for Salon DP LoRana. The reviews were great and I was happy to get an appointment right away. When I had to reschedule, they were understanding and I also like that they called and gave me a reminder the night before. Jill was my stylist for the day. I was greeted and given a cup of coffee in an adorable mug. She assessed my hair and I showed her a picture of my friend and she understood exactly what I wanted. I wanted to go dark brown for the Fall as well as add more layers and body to my hair. My hair beforehand was long and layered with the longest layer hitting my lower back, but lacked body. I also had remnants of ombre highlights at the ends that became too brassy and dry. I wanted to keep the length (which a lot of stylists in the past have had a hard time understanding!) but Jill was great. The cut and color are perfect and she took the time to blow it out, perfect the cut once dry, and style it with a flat iron. A lot of times Grouponers are rushed out and given subpar service, but this was not the case. I was there for over 2 hours and Jill made sure it was perfect. My hair still feels so soft from the treatment and looks so bouncy and healthy. When you can't stop looking in the mirror and smiling, you know you found a winner. I was getting full highlights and asked for light blonde but left with ashy color but the worst is that my hair looked like i got no or almost no root touch ups! Two months ago, I had dyed my medium/dark brown hair red, over blond highlights. By this time, my hair faded from the red; now it was a reddish brown with blond highlights and brown roots peeking back in. Yeah...not a pretty sight. Lots of color correction needed. I wanted to re-dye my hair an auburn (like the Youtube Guru Jaclyn Hill's). I found Salon DP LoRana with the popular groupon they offer (https://www.groupon.com/deals/salon-dp-lorana), and called for an appt. Donna, the owner, picked up and was extremely honest about the pricing. She said she could not guarantee the $45 groupon pricing for my longer hair and likely color correction needed. Despite her extremely busy schedule, she squeezed me in for the following day, and said she would dye my hair if she had spare time. I arrived the next day for my appt, and Donna was amazing. She sat me down and had a long, patient conversation with me about my hair mess, and suggested double-processing to correct all the different colors. However, that would've cost $150. I am a high school student, and on a tight budget. I asked her if there was any kind of discount she could offer. So, Donna offered to create as even a color as possible from a single application onto my long hair, AND deep-condition with a keratin treatment, AND a blowout for $70. Not to mention that she is the OWNER, who is the most experienced in the salon, and charges the most for her work. I agreed, and she got to work on my hair right away! Donna made a perfect replica of the auburn I wanted. She processed my roots for 20 mins, then added a more purple toned red dye to the ends of my hair for another 20. (She essentially did a "double-process" anyways for me!) All her staff were so kind and welcoming! I also watched Donna go out of her way to do sweet little favors for her customers. For example, a little girl finished her haircut and had her hair beautifully curled, and Donna ran to grab some glitter hair spray to give her a glamorous finishing touch. Donna and the other ladies clearly value their customers. If I need a cut or retouching, I am definitely going back to Salon DP LoRana! So glad I found them. read more

I showed her a photo of what I wanted, she explained to me the processes that we would use to achieve my desired look, and then we got started. I was looking to get a cut and color appointment for my mom --- my mom, who has never, ever been to a salon. Since she was new to the salon world, I figured I could take her to some place new. When I called, I was greeted happily on the other side. The receptionist was super patient with helping me find a time for my mom. And... I must have called three times after that to confirm my appointment time (since I forgot to write it down) and each time, whoever picked up was quick and super nice. 2. Phone etiquette - (5/5) ^ Goes with the above. Plus, on my way there today, I got lost. Called the salon and they guided me and gave better directions than my GPS 3. The Stylist - (5/5) My mom's stylist was Jillian. My mom's not fluent in English but does understand it. We all spoke about the color my mom wanted, and the length she wanted. Like the below review, I thought I would be getting sub-standard service because I bought a groupon. It wasn't. My mom was there for more than two hours with Jillian. At every stage of the appointment, Jillian would give me a quick update of how it was going. Even after the cut, Jillian decided to further style my mom's hair with some fun curls. My mom absolutely loved her. The entire car ride home she kept saying how patient she was and how she treated her hair nicely. All in all, my mom loves it -- which in turn makes me love it. It was her first salon experience in her life, and she felt pampered going here. She called a few of her friends and told them about the salon already -- which I thought was cute. I was looking for a new salon and came here with a groupon for the conditioning, cut, and color. I made an appointment with Jillian after reading other reviews and am so happy I did. She did a great job of incorporating everything I said into a beautiful cut and style. I have curly hair and have had some disastrous cuts before, so I'm always pretty weary; however, Jillian cut my hair perfectly! She was conservative yet also made me have a fresh look. I also never color my hair, as it is pretty dark, but wanted to try something new and was very happy!
