I loved my experience here! My appointment started right on time with a wonderful wash, followed by a great haircut from Dallas. He has really great attention to detail and was meticulous about the cut. He also took time to blow dry my hair, which I *really* appreciated. Most other places I've been to (and paid the same amount at) just blowdry with high heat to get you in and out ASAP. Plus: the studio is clean (and covid conscious), plays great music and has some really cool art you can admire during your cut / styling. I went in after reading other reviews - they were up and down but I decided that I was really unhappy with letting my hair go for 5 months without service. I gave this salon and loved it! It's a one man operation, his name is Dallas, he doesn't talk a lot r but hums, but you can tell he is an artist. He does small, but multiple highlights, so every which way I part my hair, it looks great!!! I'll definitely go back. read more

After much deliberation (and posting my first Talk thread on Yelp about it), I got the keratin treatment here today and have been pleased as punch with the results so far. The salon itself is nice, with some cool artwork around, two giant dogs who come and gaze at you from the courtyard, and they offer you water, coffee or soda - always a nice touch. My only issue was the stylist seemed in a bit of a rush and didn't even tell me her name. I'm not one to yammer on for hours with my hairdresser, so it didn't bother me that she worked on my hair while I sipped my beverage and perused a mag - but if you're looking for a therapy session while getting your hair did, this prolly ain't your spot. They also score bonus points for being an Aveda salon! I noticed that more than half of the clientele while I was there (2.5 hours) were men. If my hair starts falling out, I'll update this, but for now, this was a solidly positive experience, contrary to the other review posted here. I flew into New Orleans from DC today, hating my hair and wanting to do something about it. Armed with a picture I booked an appointment at Salon Du Beau Monde. Happy Day! Sarah was able to fit me in this afternoon, assessed the photo and took to giving me EXACTLY what I wanted. I feel GREAT! Nice atmosphere, great job...affordable. My problem now is I have to fly down to New Orleans every 6-8 weeks! Go to Salon Du Beau Monde - you'll be glad you did. read more

It's okay though because Mandy moved just a few blocks away to the Beauty Lounge. Glad she has good vibes at her new place. This is less of a review of the salon as a whole and more of a review of my experience as a man who's had his hair cut by the owner and lead stylist Dallas for 2+ years now. I can't speak to women's cuts/styles or any of the other stylists that work and operate here, though they all seem very friendly: 1. Dallas. One of the nicer guys you'll meet in the industry, also one of the most talented. He's the only guy in NOLA I'll let touch my hair anymore. He typically does women's hair but I've never walked out less than happy with my cut. Long story short, dude knows what he's doing. 2. Time. Dallas doesn't rush what he's doing. Expect to be in that chair for an hour and change minimum, especially on your 1st visit while he figures out exactly what your hairs doing and how you want it. I actually take this as a good thing, but not everyone has that much time to spend on a haircut. 3. Hours. They're open Monday-Saturday and will stay open as late as 8:30 if you make an appointment. 4. Price. This is the big hitting point here. A haircut will cost you upwards of $100. That's more than I'd like to pay but it's worth it for a quality look. The salon is clean, they always offer you a drink and the end product comes out well. I was in town visiting friends when one of my buddies decided to give me a hard time over always having the same haircut. (Grow it long, buzz, repeat). I was coming due for a cut and decided what the hell I want Adam to shut it. His girlfriend referred Tiffany here at Salon Du Beau. We made a day of it, the journey from buzzcut to style, had a boozy brunch to say good bye to unstyled hair and sat in the chair at the mercy of Tiffany's talents. Tiffany was a total blast. Not only did she pull off a really cool haircut, she was so nice, friendly and just a real pleasure while taking sharp objects close to my eyes and ears. Now I'll need to find a stylist at home that can pull off the same haircut with as much fun as Tiffany. read more

Worst haircut I have ever gotten, two days before I was a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. I asked for a bang trim, just to get them out of my eyes, and when I closed my eyes for the trim the stylist cut them in a jagged semi-circle at least an inch and a half above my eyebrows. Then, to make these freaky French mod/albino monk in Da Vinci code bangs look more "in tune" with the rest of my hair, the stylist gave me a similarly jagged, uneven pixie cut. This is after I spent the last 5 months growing my hair out after my last pixie cut. At least I only paid $40. read more

I have been going to him for 2 years, he has helped me grow my hair out gracefully, the color he gives me is gorgeous, my hair is healthier and needs to be colored less often because of Dallas' careful color choice, he styles my hair perfectly, and I am 100% happy! I have super thick long hair and most stylists have a difficult time understanding (or committing) to shaping and softening my hair. I moved out of state, but make my hair appointments with Tiffany when I go home to visit family. I love Tiffany at the salon because she is patient and takes the time to listen to me. I feel she is a true artist with a vision and I love that she let's me know her recommendations to enhance my goals. I am pretty picky but I also need a professional to take me to the next level, keep my hair healthy and make sure it lays correct (way too much hair here lol) it's not an easy task. I got the royal treatment from the time I walked in the door, and Dallas did an amazing job with my haircut. Gave the hair stylist another chance mostly because of the connivence - they are open late and are a couple of blocks from my place. The second time, I displayed images and explained what I was looking for, low taper sides blended in with the long length on top. The guy didn't bother to ask any questions nor explain back what he planned to do, so I assumed he understood. I ended up with a straight shaves on the side with no blending at the edges. I am very disappointed because it took a long time to grow it out, plus I'm meeting my girlfriend's family for the first time this weekend. Not coming here again. read more

Fabulous service, Dallas is a dream! He's one of the best colorists in New Orleans, bar none. I couldn't be happier with my experience with this salon since becoming a customer there in 2010 after I decided I was dissatisfied with my previous stylist. Kelly was my stylist and she did an amazing job on my haircut. Took her time to make sure the cut was just the way I liked it. Even got a shampoo. Worst haircut ever! I have a very basis bob haircut, went in for a roots touch up and trim. Tiffany hacked inches off of my hair and told me I needed softer edges! I had to argue with her to get her to stop cutting after 3 hours! She destroyed my hair. read more

After reading raving reviews about this salon and about Dallas I decided to treat myself with a great color job while visiting New Orleans. 2 hours and 330.00 later I'm just not sure it was worth it. I could barely tell that my hair was colored and it looks NOTHING like the photos I showed him. I'm not sure exactly what happened? I also noticed it was pretty barren the entire time I was there.....most salons that are well known and highly recommended are pretty busy right? It wasn't horrid, but wasn't worth the time and money. I have no doubt NO ONE will know that anything was done to my hair :-/ read more

Worst haircut I've ever had. My hair is long and straight-forward, and Kathleen gave me a choppy, strange mullet-ish cut with bangs. It is very uneven from right to left and super short in front and long in back. Really unhappy with it, but I would not trust her enough to go back for any second attempts to "fix it". Hopefully another salon somewhere can help salvage atleast a normal looking haircut from it. read more

I was lucky enough to find this place shortly after I moved to NOLA and haven't felt the need to explore any other salons. I love DeShea. She's very thorough and explains to me why she is cutting my hair a certain way as she goes. Once while I was getting my haircut, a woman expressed dissatisfaction over her cut she had just received. (I think she had course/problem hair and wanted some certain style.) So she told the head stylist, and he re-washed and re-cut her hair. At what other salon would this happen? I get compliments on my cut all the time, and I feel totally comfortable recommending them to anyone. read more

I was going to very formal event and made an appt with what I thought was a high end salon at Canal Place. They lost my reservation and refused to help me get in at another one of there may local salons. In a panic I found this wonderful little salon. Not only did they take me immediately for an updo but the stylist calmed me down and "talked me off the ledge" and was a great gal. I am going back to get color and a great haircut. I absolutely love this place. It is located within walking distance of everything downtown and is very upscale. Tiffany is awesome and knows more than anyone I have ever gone to about that works best for your hair. You can go in anytime and she will give you a complete run down of your hair based on the type of hair you have and how your hair grows. Although it was the most $$$ I've ever paid for a haircut, which i knew going in to, it was however THE best one I've ever had. I haven't been back only because I can't really justify spending that much every time, I just wanted to spoil myself . If I could afford it, trust me, I would go! I have curly hair so stylist tend to shy away from using a diffuser, don't know why, but Dallas did and it looked AMAZING, better than when I do it, naturally. I just returned from vacation in New Orleans and desperately needed a hair cut when I arrived. I am very pick about where I go as I have naturally curly hair. Where I live I drive 2 hours to my nearest Oida salon. Thus, I was skeptical, but the reviews were good and they were able to fit me in the same day I called. The salon is small but a real gem. I have to say this is the best haircut I have received in years! The staff is very professional. I only wished I lived closer. read more

Got an ok haircut my first visit. Stylist cut it much shorter that I wanted/asked for. Called to schedule 2nd appointment & learned that my original stylist was no longer there so I agreed to another stylist. Since the previous haricut was too short, I decided to only have color done at the 2nd appointment. After shampooing my hair, I was told that a blow dry was only complimentary with a haircut. Without a haricut, they charged "a la carte." When I asked the price of a blowdry, I was told it would be $40! Since I had a service that required shampooing my hair, I find this totally outrageous & unacceptable. My hair was dry by the time I got home and it was only then that I could see that it was way too dark....much darker (especially aroung my hairline) that I have ever seen my hair (including after my original visit to this salon.) Of course I would not have known that prior to leaving the salon because they didn't blow dry my hair and showed me the door like a wet dog. Unless you are ok with turnover in personnel, disappointing outcomes and an a la carte/Super Cuts experience, steer clear! read more
