Scheduling an appointment was easy and the receptionist worked with my limited availability. The salon was clean, I was greeted immediately, and introduced to my stylist, Jared. He was friendly, patient, and listened carefully to my concerns following a bad haircut I received at another salon. Jared did a terrific job. He surprised me with his confidence, professionalism, and skill, given his young age. Although, quite personable, he did not chat my ear off, which I appreciated. First, she suggested we highlight my hair and then go over it with blue. After 3 hours at the salon, my hair was a gross green color. My entire scalp was blue and the rest of my hair were all different colors (dark brown, bright blue and green) I politely told her that it didn't come out as I hoped it would. Leah insisted that she would come in another day this week to fix it for me. This was sweet of her but I didn't live locally so driving back down would be a hassle for me. When it was time to checkout, the hairdresser Leah was standing there as I was told my total came to $145. I felt uncomfortable because I didn't want to upset anyone but I was surprised they were making me pay this amount. I left a 30$ tip for Leah despite my disappointment. Half an hour later I called the salon to speak with a manager and was told Stephanie left for the day. I gave my name and the reason for my call (inquiring about a refund). I called back the next day and was told Stephanie (the owner) was with clients, but that she would return my call. I received a voicemail 20 minutes later from Stephanie. She stated that she was aware of what happened because she spoke with Leah. She said, "This sometimes happens with funky colors" and "We don't do refunds here at the salon. It's in our policies". How would I know that this is their policy? I was never made aware of this or signed anything. I'm angry and upset that I'm not getting at least a partial refund for the hair coloring service I received and was not happy with. Although they're saying I can come back to get it fixed, I'm afraid to will look worse and become even more damaged. Be warned and take this into consideration if your thinking about getting your hair colored here.

If you are looking to get a standard yet decent, haircut, highlights, cover gray on roots, or single, all over color, without having to wait for an appointment x weeks from now, inexpensive, no fuss surroundings, then her place is the one to visit. When I need any of the above service, I call on the same day, and I usually get in with minimal wait. It shocks me how much she charges for all the above services, including services like shampoo and blowdry and flat iron. I've seen her do total color change on other clients--dark hair to pink, platinum blonde--or even platinum highlights. A haircut is included in all her coloring services. Kate also does standard waxing service. I go elsewhere when I want a more modern haircut or style (especially for layers) but I do visit Kate for everything else. Recently, I decided to only use organic, very low chemical products on my hair and she agreed to apply it on me for a very minimal labor fee. Yes, she is willing to use your own products on you if you wish. That is no longer very common these days. I cannot overstate how low her rates are by today's standard but the quality is fine. I was 100% happy with the results and the price (about two years ago). However, she charged my friend probably $900 for a series of about 5-6 highlighting visits to slowly turn her very dark hair to a blonder colour. I personally think this is highway robbery, and my friend ended up liking her dark hair better and dying it black again. However EVER, we had a fiasco of a time when we went for wedding day updos. Not only was there a time mixup, there was a huge rush, and my hair (and others) had started to fall out by the time I left. Plus, it was flat to my head which makes me look like a bobblehead doll and several times very nicely reminded/asked that it not do that. The bride's hair came out absolutely beautiful so that was the redeeming factor. All in all, this place confuses me.
