We had an excellent experience with this salon and our stylist. Aubrey did a fantastic job with my daughter. She explained the pros and cons of coloring her hair. After spending a few hours with us cutting and coloring my daughters waist length hair we were delighted with the results. Searching for a decent place to get my hair trimmed, thought I'd try Salon Gloss II, they're close w/ good reviews. Said $20 on the website for a man's hair cut (from what I could tell, no clue that there are different levels of stylists). Had a good trim, I'm bald on top and just needed the sides and back trimmed. Didn't take long, the stylist said, "that was easy" when she finished. So I go to the desk to pay,.. $45. Of course I said it's $20 on the web site, little girl said there's nothing she could do, I asked for a manager, she said he's with a client and it'll be 45 minutes. I paid and walked out. Highly dissatisfied w/ what could be called a scam, bait and switch, rip off,.. when I told my wife how much I paid, she gasped and held her mouth. Needless to say I'll never be back to Salon Gloss II. Update: The owner called within a couple hours and was very kind, explained that my experience shouldn't have happened and there'll be front desk retraining in how to handle situations like mine. So, I'm changing my one star with the hopes my experience was a one time thing. My hair cut was fine and the salon's appearance is excellent. read more

Very disappointed. My daughter Got her hair tips colored here. Spent $100 (w/tip). The coloring Lasted only a few days. When we contacted them to fix, they wanted to charge us again to re-color ...they also said we had to buy their special shampoo so the color would stay. Never told us this color was temporary up front. Basically feel ripped off. Not recommending them to anyone. This place was recommended to us...but Bad customer service over a little girl's hair. Crazy. Live and learn, should have just bought hair coloring from CVS for $10 instead. Would give a zero star rating if I could. read more

GOOD: The updated facility is very nice. Every stylist I've been to at this salon (Kristin, Julie and James) were all highly capable, nice and did a wonderful job. The front desk staff have always been extremely helpful and friendly too, with the exception of what appears to be a new gentleman who I met today and found to be inhospitable. BAD: You're not going to be warmly welcomed by the reception with a beverage while you wait, you're unlikely to receive a hand massage or indulgent head massage during your wash at this place. So if you're looking for a high end experience to match the higher end prices (for the area) you will not find it here. You will have access to tea, maybe coffee (I've been told that it was burnt before so they wouldn't recommend it), water, and maybe some bitter wine. They may have soda too but I don't drink soda. The extra little touches often found in salons with this price structure aren't available here, just the minimum to skirt by. I've overheard staff talk about the difficulties with building and fostering a team spirit and good working environment and it's palpable to feel and see in the deficiencies of the way the salon is run with an owner centric approach rather than a customer centric approach. The owner is lucky to have good stylists willing to put up with these antics because his employees are the best thing about the salon. It's too bad he shackles them with the repercussions of his poor leadership decisions. UGLY: Speaking of just the minimum. When I started going to this salon the owner had a policy of not allowing the stylists to receive tips on a debit or credit card transaction and only accepted cash tips. Needless to say I forgot twice and found myself driving to the nearest ATM miles down the road to get cash tip and return. It was a huge inconvenience to have to always carry cash on me for tip when I would go there. But, he recently changed his policy and I was thrilled. With that said, the owner's policies are the reason I will never patron the business again. I've had two unfortunate situations with questionable decisions made by the owner. I paid over a thousand dollars for extensions. The first application was great and I returned exactly on time for them to be lifted and reapplied. After the first lift and reapplication, within a short time, they had started sliding and were gummy and falling out. I had followed care instructions provided to me to a "T" and there were no changes in my routine from the first time to the second time. The stylist was able to get me right in but didn't have time to reapply before my business trip. I was told that the owner only approved removing them at no additional cost but if I wanted them to reapply, or wash the gummy adhesive out of my hair, and touch up my hair cut that I would have to pay for that. I chose to have the stylist wash and trim my hair and she split the cost with me out of her pocket and mine rather than the business owner's. The owner called me promptly at MY request and indicated that he previously didn't have all the details when he gave his directives to his staff on how to handle the situation. He also indicated that his employees do have to pay for comped services from their own pocket and he said "she shouldn't have told you that." I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He gave me the cost of the wash and trim (my half) back in a credit. So I essentially spent over a thousand dollars on extensions that I was only able to wear less than half the time I was told that they would last at minimum. I walked away shocked that he felt no desire to do the right thing from the beginning and doing the very bare minimum only after I asked to speak with him. My first time going back after that incident I called and made an appointment for later the same day for a simple root touch up. I showed up early and was greeted coldly by the male receptionist. I took a seat and waited a little more than ten minutes. A stylist came out to inform me that the stylist that was supposed to provide my service was in the middle of a balayage gone bad crisis that she was trying to fix and so my service was canceled. I was told she was sorry and that she even checked with the owner and that he said that there was nothing else they can do except cancel my appointment. She also worked in that I had "just booked today"...I remember thinking "what does that have to do with anything". I told her I was disappointed and had left work early and drove from another town. She just reiterated that the owner said there's nothing they can do. I thanked her for letting me know and let her know that she could inform the owner that there wouldn't be a need for me to ever use the small credit on my account from the last situation. I share this in hopes of a)managing your expectations should you patron the business (the stylists are great!) and b) to possibly save you time and money should you be considering a more costly service. read more

My first visit here was with Emily. I was referred to her by a good friend of mine. I loved the location of the salon (at least when it was in its old location) and the decor/look of the salon is very in-town Atlanta-esque without the snobbiness (thank God). I ended up getting full highlights for $125, which is kind of pricey IMO. Especially since my hair didn't look any better than any other colorist I have seen. Regardless, I was trying to just find a lifelong colorist so when she enthusiastically gave me her number and told me to book with her next time I was hopeful. Well come 3 months later, I reached out to her several times to book an appointment and was ignored each time. Odd but I called the salon and asked for an appointment with someone else who was great with blonde hair. So now I have an appointment with Zach. Extremely nice and easy to talk to. Didn't take 4 hours to color my hair. However, it just was not a color job worth $125 + tip. Underneath my hair (like in the back, near the neck) looked like no color had been put there at all. And part of the front of my hair, where people easily see, was really bad. The foils weren't put close enough to my scalp so you could see a CLEAR line of bleach. Mistakes are made so I went back for a follow-up appointment to fix the front of my hair. He put a few more foils, but the problem still wasn't fixed. His solution - dye that one section of hair a darker shade to hide the line of bleach. You could imagine how I felt at the end of it. My search continues. All in all, it's a fantastic looking salon and I love that it's an in-town-type salon out in the 'burbs. However, I feel the talent needs to be up-to-par with the prices. I'm going to try and find another colorist still but perhaps someone else at the salon may suite your needs! read more

Tim helped me with my hair for the last 6 years, color, highlights and cut. Every single time I was happy with the service. He is very good in what he does and knowing him for 6 years, he can be a perfectionist. One time I called back to adjust the cut the next day after the cut. They gave me the next available opening, made the adjustment, styled at no additional cost. I feel the price matches the service he delivers. Hi Tim actually what you have answered to my review is not correct you were not there so that is not true, Taylor agree to do highlights and my daughter showed a photo of her hair perfectly highlighted and Taylor seemed to understand what she wanted and did a super bad work on her hair I had to tell her that she was doing a bad job and I'm not a stylist. We talked with some other of your stylist and they agree that it was possible to fix the bad work that Taylor has done without damaging the hair. So we came back and Taylor said that my daughter will loose her hair. read more

Beautiful salon and friendly staff but I do not recommend this salon if you are African American because they do not know how to do our hair! I tried to tell the stylist to apply more heat to straighten my hair but I walked out with it looking a mess. Edges were terrible. I wish more stylists knew how to do black hair. ..smh. read more

I have never seen an owner that spends money and does not use the facilities he builds. First it was massage and facials, then came the barber shop, there are not enough sinks to handle hair washing, u have to wait. Receptionist are not efficient only because they can not handle the volume of calls and most stylist have a good attitude and great talent. I am shopping for a new place to service my needs and I found a place that gives you a great shampoo, is clean and has stylist of equal quality, but without the owners arrogant attitude. The owner called me after this post and told me not to come back, one more business mistake. You should always look for solutions, firing your customers is not the way. I was the CEO of a very large company, and all I know if we had a customer with concerns, someone in management was on a plane that day to see them and solve the problem. read more

I made an appointment with Taylor to get my hair cut with new highlights. I showed her pics of the short haircuts I liked and Taylor seemed like she knew what to do. First the highlights- the blonds sections were big and very blond, so the next process was to tone down everything. Then the cut. It was very short and choppy in the back and the pieces around my face were left long enough to nearly touch my collar bones, almost like 2 (or more) different haircuts in 1. But I thought maybe after I get home and style it myself it will be ok. Well, it wasn't. The highlights were basically poorly done with dark section over light sections, and some sections didn't have color all the way to the ends so the tips were a different color giving me an overall striped effect. I sent a message to the Salon after hours to make another appointment and I haven't heard anything back. So after paying $125 for a cut and highlights, I went to ANOTHER salon yesterday and had more hair cut, and more highlight done to try to blend the entire style together. I hate to give a one star rating because Taylor was very nice and seemed to know what she was doing. However, given the cost of the highlights and cut, and then an additional cost at a different salon, I have to give it a one. read more

I've been going to Lindsay for almost two years and my hair has never looked better. She is wonderful with color. The salon is great too. Beautiful and modern. I moved to Woodstock after 10 years of living in DC and this place has a total big city vibe. Also, all the complainers needs to pipe down about the prices. I guess people here are used to cheap-o hair salons, but you get what you pay for. Gloss uses really high quality products and the stylists are very professional and well trained. I've tried a bunch of places to get a men's cut and my wife recommended Salon Gloss. I tried it once and it was an ok cut. I went back again and got a stylist named Emily and she is AMAZING! I keep going back because of her. She does a great job. She's super friendly and a pro. As long as she cuts there, I'll keep going back. Really everyone there is really nice and helpful. Just had my head rocked by Lindsay. First, I'm a picky person. I have high standards for attitude, talent, knowledge, and kindness, and Lindsay had the best of all these things. Very wonderful consultation skills, guided me into a change to my look that I LOVE, and really listened to me. I have gobs of hair some people get lost in, and I have an unusual cut, so finding someone that can really work my difficult hair and has instant confidence is great. Also, she was very personable. I am relatively new to this area and found Salon Gloss online. I booked an appointment with Amber (this was in May) and have been going to her since then. Amber understood exactly what I wanted and my hair always looks and feels fabulous! She always cuts it the way I like and I love the suggestions for hair color. Called for info and estimate for my daughter, told them my daughter has long hair and wanted a trim and hi-lights, I was paying for it as a early Christmas gift. Was told it would probably take a few hours and the cost would run $140-$165.00. After all the searching I had done I felt that was the "going rate" for the services so I made an appointment for my daughter. I actually went in to check how things were going after my daughter had been there for almost 2 hours, spoke to the stylist and the person who was rinsing her out, they told me it would be a little while longer. After my daughter was finished she came out and started crying, her hair looked good so I asked what was wrong, she said they told her the bill was $395.00! We were shocked so I went in to speak with someone and ask why it was so high, was told the stylist had left. The receptionist told me she too was shocked at the price but said they did a lot of services (that we didn't ask for by the way). We will never go back to this salon and people should be aware they will do this kind of thing without notifying the client or the person they know is paying for the service. Very unhappy with them! About two months ago I decided to make an appointment to this salon. This was my first visit to Salon Gloss and I wanted a few highlights around my face only and a reverse-bob cut. I requested NO blonde and received blonde highlights. The highlights were suppose to be applied farther down from my hair line for a more natural look and instead were applied directly at my hair line. Now I have a dramatic hairline growth and now have to color my entire head. This is what I didn't want. My hair was cut the same length and was not cut shorter in the back as I requested. I went to this salon last week and it was the worse experience of my life. I walked in a light, light blond and over three hours later and $175.00 walked out a brunette with some highlights. I told the woman that my hair grabbed color quickly so she put a mixture she had not tried before on my hair and left it 20-30 minutes. I even gave her the formula the last person used on my hair successfully. She did not listen. I have been washing my hair in dawn every day since to get the color to fade. This has to be the worse color experience I have ever had and would not recommend this shop to anyone. I was afraid to let her give me a complete cut after that. THEY RUIN YOUR HAIR! This is the worst place on the planet. All I wanted was a simple trim to keep my hair long and NOTHING ELSE. I was very adamant about it and Lindsey showed me how much she would take off(about an inch to an inch and half) and i said it was ok. She takes off 6-7 inches, gives me 2 layers where it looks like a 12 year old just grabbed the top half of my hair and chopped it off, and I can no longer part my hair to the side because my hair looks so uneven it's so short. It doesn't stay behind my ears and whenever I try to put it all over one shoulder it falls back down or into my face. It barely goes past my shoulders and I can't even put my hair in a simple bun anymore it's so short. I asked for a simple trim and nothing more, and she goes and does her own thing. I do NOT recommend this place. Go somewhere where a hair stylist is actually going to listen to the client. read more

Will and Jennifer did the make up and hair for my daughter's wedding - the bride and 8 bridesmaids, and MOB. They traveled to Dahlonega, GA to get us all beautiful on the wedding day. Oh my goodness! Everyone looked absolutely stunning! Will airbrushed the make up for 3 of us, and it was the best I've ever seen! It lasted well into the night - we looked amazing all day I must say! The girls all had swept up updos. The wind gusts that day were around 30 mph and everyone's hair stayed up amazingly! I would highly recommend them to everyone - we were more than pleased!
