This place is super cute and the girls are so friendly. I liked my cut, but I told the girl not to touch the length of my bangs, and she said she's just taper them or whatever and not take any length off. She ended up putting a huge hole in the middle of them, which really stood out. She styled them in a way that I didn't notice at the salon. I had to fix them myself at home and take another half inch off them (I usually wear them blunt and long) just to make them even, and they still aren't even. I'm really annoyed about this and have learned my lesson about anyone trying something new with my bangs. I'd go back for a regular haircut though. read more

Kalli is excellent, friendly, and relatively inexpensive as far as women's haircuts go. I pay around $50 and include a nice tip for a haircut/style with eyebrow wax. I love how cute, quaint, and comfortable the interior is. I also am really picky about my eyebrows- I hate when they are too thin and she does them perfect and cuts my hair exactly how I like. So. Let me just tell you. I had the most amazing hair cut experience I've ever had in my entire life here, and I now will never go anywhere else. I went in and the ambiance is fun and sophisticated and incredibly welcoming. All the ladies who were working greeted me and made me feel so welcome even before checking in and continued to do so as I had an amazing experience. Cassandra cut my hair from my life-long lower back length to a collarbone long bob. I was incredibly nervous and excited and Cassandra surpassed all of my hopes and expectations. When I get a short haircut, my face always seems to have odds and ends sticking out that completely detract from the aesthetic beauty of my pretty hair follicles all neatly arranged. Upon moving to Denver, it took four different places and five attempts to find a person who could prevent me from being the promo picture of "What to Avoid in 5280" articles. And then I moved to Arvada, and cried into my pillow because it was simply too far to drive past IKEA every time I needed a trim. But then, rejoice! Merely one failed haircut later (which happened at a "Great Clips" hair salon), I walked into Salon Hether's for a same-day appointment. The salon is deceptively grand inside, stretching back with lots of nooks and crannies for haircutting privacy. I didn't pay attention to the decor, because I don't pay attention to decor, but it certainly felt professional and jazzy and trendy and all that good stuff. There were a lot of people walking around but they all appeared very comfortable and content with being there, which is nice to see. The stylist, Christina, asked me a bunch of questions and I took her advice and off we went. Come to find out, she was relatively new to Salon Hether's and had switched over from somewhere-else-salon (sorry! I'm horrible with random details). She did an awesome job, working with me through my difficulties and challenging facial obstructions. Kinda like trying to landscape a beautiful lawn on the side of a cliff, as my nose and cheeks appear at cross purposes with my eyes and chin. Somehow. They really do; haircuts are hell for me. Anyways, here's the best part: Multiple opinions and thoughts were gathered throughout the process, and it was completely professional as the head honcho verbally contributed to making me look and feel as good as possible. I felt like Tom Cruise getting made up before he went all psycho-science! And Christina completely indulged me, answering all my stupid questions and even pulled off an amazing acting job pretending they weren't stupid. All for a ridiculously low price of $25, which I thought I had heard wrong. So if you live in Arvada or nearby, go here. It's worth every penny and then some. read more

I've been taking my son to this salon for 3 years to get a kid's cut...always $12, no matter which stylist would cut it. They didn't wash it, just sprayed it wet and trimmed it up. Last week, after making an appointment (and confirming that the stylist does kids cuts), we had to pay $25 for a cut, on a 12 year old boy! Ridiculous. I recently visted Salon Hether's for the first time after finding them here on yelp. I was looking for a new salon after moving from out of state and they seemed to fit the bill! My haircut, though cut evenly and looking nice...wasn't quite what I was going for, but I was fine with it for the time being. The strange part was when it came to the color part of my appointment. The stylist avoided the topic almost entirely after I brought it up multiple times and when I confronted her about why I wasn't having color done (because I had mentioned it to the receptionist when making my appt) she responded with "Oh no, it just a cut today"...then handed me a card to come back another day for color. I left and just couldn't seem to shake it. I was confused at the whole situation and bummed to have to set up another appointment and come back in (not all that easy with having to coordinate with my husband's day off to watch our toddler). So I called later that same afternoon and spoke with the receptionist to see if maybe I was never booked for color or what was going on....concerned and confused, she then got the manager Carlyn for me to speak to. She also seemed very confused as to why the stylist wouldnt even acknolwedge the color portion of my appt. After apologizing serveral times she asked me to come back in that same day for another stylist to do my color at a discounted price for the inconvienece. And I did. Kallie was the stylist to do my highlights and did a FANTASTIC JOB! I mean truly, I don't believe I've loved my color more. She seemed to be a little new and maybe in training, but was so confident and listened to me explain what I was looking for through pictures I had and executed it more than perfectly! She now has me as a client! The reason I gave Salon Hether's 5-stars is because regardless of the hiccup/miscommunication I had, the management handled it so well and to me that's how you can tell a business truly cares about their customers! I was very hesitant to get my makeup done for my wedding because I didn't want to look fake or unnatural. But I was able to work with Christina from Hethers salon and it was the best experience! Not only was my makeup absolutely beautiful on my wedding day, Christina gave me great tips for doing my makeup everyday. She also included makeup that wasn't super expensive. Super Happy! I am a road warrior, for business that is. However, sometimes I get desparate for a hair cut. This was the case a few weeks ago while I was in Tacoma, WA. Oh, I am so sorry. I guess they don't know how to cut hair in Tacoma. The Seventies called and they want their Carol Brady shag hair cut back. (The Tacoma stylist actually said to me half way through the cut "You basically have a Shag." I am screaming inside...NO I DONT HAVE A SHAG!) It was bad, so bad. Salon Hethers to the rescue. Called my regular stylist Lori, and she came to my rescue. What was I ever thinking going somewhere else. I sincerely hate to do this but I'm so incredibly upset about my hair cut. I don't even want to mention who I went to because I appreciated her, and don't want bad blood with her. But, I won't be returning. My hair was half way down my back. I had a lot of hair and just needed to shape it up. I told her when I went in that I want to be able to flip my hair to the side and have choppy pieces on the side that's flipped over. So she cuts it and still leaves it somewhat decent length. I didn't like how short she took it but was fine with it. She offered after my cut that if I didn't like it when I went home, that I could come back in. Well, of course, I'm not gonna say to her face that I'm not liking it. I'm not confrontational. But, I woke up today (the next day) and thought it was a pretty cut but it wasn't quite where I wanted it when I flipped my hair to the side. So I made and appt and went to it and she was running late and they didn't tell me until I got there. I had to wait 20 min after my set appointment and I went back to her station and told her "maybe I just need to talk to you first and figure this out because it doesn't need much off at all. I just wanted more shorter pieces when I flipped my hair". She said no problem and sat me down. She started cutting quite a bit off and I was starting to get scared because I noticed how much was falling to the floor. She started to say that my hair wasn't connected anymore. I freaked out and said something like "oh no!" and she reassured me it should still look fine. I wish more than anything I would have stopped her from cutting because way way too much was coming off but I trusted her. She's the professional, not me. When she was finally done, my heart sank. My hair length was shot, my ends looked stringy and my hair looked so incredibly thin. I left the salon so unconfident and scared to look in the mirror. It felt like my hair was completely gone. It's so thin, stringy and light now. I'm a big girl, I explained to her how my hair was my comfort zone because I like hiding in it. Now my comfort zone is gone and the worst part is I hate the hair cut. I just looked at it in the mirror and it's so uneven and stringy and t just is not what I asked for. Yes I should have stopped her from cutting, but, her being the professional should have asked me questions to make sure what she was doing was ok. I went to Cosmo school, I know clients sometimes are confusing. But, I just wish I stopped her from cutting and she asked me more specific questions, and listened to what I said. I feel self conscious now. I have issues with the way I look and my hair was one of my favorite attributes that is now gone! And the day before I leave on my birthday trip to Vegas. I'm devastated and sorry that I went back to get it "fixed". read more

She did blond highlights in a few different shades to look natural and then we experimented with teal & purple strands on the side at my request. I wanted to see how they will last, fade, etc. Then she cut it really well. Seemed to know exactly what I wanted. The absolute only drawback is that it's a little on the pricey side. I was looking for a hair salon to do my hair and make-up for my wedding. Since I was coming from out of town, I was a bit nervous about finding someone that would work with me and be ok with not meeting me until the Thursday before the big day. Salon Hether's was very friendly on the phone and then exceeded my expectations when I was there in person. I had Christina Montoya as my hair stylist and make-up artist and she was amazing. I went in for my trial run on Thursday before the big day and she was very good at listening to my ideas and then even had a lot of good suggestions to add to that as well. And then on the day off, Christina and the Salon Hether's team did an amazing job setting up an area in the back for my bridesmaids and myself to hang out. They had all sorts of food and mimosas and made us feel very special. My hair and make-up was exactly what I was looking for and it turned out perfect for the big day. It also last the whole day! Butchered is the best example I could give for what was done to my hair. I have NEVER in my lifetime had a shoddier hair cut/style (if you can even call it that). Would not follow my request and did what they wanted. If you value your hair go to a $24 dollar shop, they won't rip you off or horrify you to go to work the next day.
