I am very unhappy with my recent visit to D Ametris Aveda Hair Salon.i booked an appointment with Amy for haircut and highlights, hoping for a fresh look for an upcoming project.Unfortunately, the results were far from what I am expected. The haircut was uneven and looked rushed, even though I specifically asked for a simple, clean cut.But the biggest issue was the highlights - they came out far too dark and did not match the shade I d discussed with Ame.I wanted a brighter, more vibrant look, but my hair ended up looking dull and flat. I asked Ame, to fix haircut and highlights, and I scheduled two follow-up up appointments with her, but she cancelled both appointments. I appreciate Dennis and the hospitality and cleanliness of the shop but I am very disappointed with my haircut after washing it, because it was cut with a razor at the end it is completely shredded and course when I had mentioned my hair does not cut well with razors, I left disappointed because I have been trying to grow out my hair and finally got it to not look scraggly and now have to wear a hat for another 6 months because I hate my haircut. Looks slick and high end quality from the outside. Step in and it's a hip place. It's like a bad gift wrapped well. The bad gift here is the poor low end hair cut. Floyd's is faster and better. My dog gets a better cut around the corner. Seriously They have you fill out a form for what you want and then we went over what I wanted and did not want. I got exactly what I didn't want. They have no creative ability or skill. I was told she has cut hair for years. She cut like she was brand new. And stop washing my hair and focus on the cut. Looked around at other customers and they had a basic blah hair style. All flash no quality. Bummed because their close and really wanted a high end person who knows how to cut hair closer. Overall, I was happy with the experience, but there were a few downsides. The location was very far and parking is kind of an issue. I was initially about 20 minutes late to my first appointment, I was told I could not be seen that day because my stylist had already started working with her next client. This was really frustrating because I had driven over an hour from my work in Castle Rock. So if you're the kind of person who's often late, be extra careful. I had to reschedule for a Saturday, which was kind of a hassle. Once I was able to meet with the stylist, she seemed extremely knowledgable about my hair's texture (it's kind of a weird mix of wavy/curly) and how to get the best out of it. She asked insightful questions that I thought really helped her understand what I was looking for. The Aveda products she used smelled great and were really relaxing. The clarify shampoo felt like it removed years of build-up, leaving my hair sleek and shiny. The only thing that I'm less than satisfied with is that my curls are having a hard time bouncing back after the cut. I'm not sure if that's because of the cut or would have happened anyway with the change of the seasons. read more

The salon owner game me a perm in Nov. It completely fried my hair. I had been going to another Aveda salon since for cut and color. They recommended that I use the Aveda's Damage Control line. I have been using it faithfully since it was so damaged by the perm. At the other salon's recommendation, I called D'Ametris to see if there was anything else that could be done. I came in for my appointment because they said that they would make it right. The owner who fried my hair completely ignored me even though she was within a foot of me doing someone else's hair. Very unprofessional and rude especially considering that she was the one who fried my hair. read more

I've been working with Ame for almost a year now to bring about my "transformation" as she calls it. For me, it was restoring my hair to the glory it was when I was a youth. At my first appointment, Ame and I sat down and spoke about the environmental factors that have taken a toll on my hair, how I style it the most, etc. and came up with a plan. I've never left the salon after an appointment unsatisfied. I've always felt welcome and they even allow me to bring my "mobile office" so I can work while my transformation takes place. With that being said, when I left my appointment yesterday, I couldn't stop smiling. My hair, for the first time years, felt like it did when I younger, so soft and so silky. It even brought a smile to my hubby's face after a very long and stressful day of work for him. I've been reminding myself for two days to stop touching it, but I can't help myself because it is so soft and silky. Please give D'Ametris the opportunity to help you out with your transformation, I promise you, it will be well worth it. Everyone there is so kind, they listen, they check-in, they work with ever changing schedules and if you have an issue, will even make time to squeeze you in. I waited a while to make this review...The day after my appointment, the salon sent me a survey, and I chose to be "anonymous." After I submitted the survey, they called me to discuss what I had written. That is not anonymous!! The receptionist said she "had a feeling" it was me. I had a young stylist, and it showed. First, the good. She was a great colorist - I really loved the color. Now, the bad. I did not love the cut, and she did not really ask me what I wanted before she just cut off the ends. I also did not feel relaxed at all while in there. My stylist seemed irritated and made comments about other clients while doing my hair. She did not make much conversation, and I did not enjoy talking with her when she did. If I'm going to be in a hair salon for a few hours and pay that much money, I want to feel relaxed! Ugh, won't be back. I'm VERY verbal & descriptive when it comes to I want my hair done. Not in a mean way but I even said to the stylist, Robyn, if my hair isn't done the way I want, I simply won't ever be back. First off, I specifically said don't start my blonde highlights directly at my face line (so it doesn't look as bad when it grows out) well, she did exactly just that. Plus my hair is breaking in the front now. Once she takes out the foils I see she added like a blood red highlight. She's all "I thought this would be fun" um no. That's not what I asked for. Oh you're a typical guy like me and don't have a clue how to answer? Not a problem, she will ask more in-depth probing questions. She also clearly stays up-to-date on what's in-style, classy not crazy, and have some great suggestions and ideas that turned this Neanderthal back into the classy business man I pretend to be at dinner parties :) Lastly I have to complement her execution. I've never had somebody be as thoughtful and meticulous about making sure every hair was cut and styled, and she offers to wash my hair twice so I can go back to work without clippings all over my shirt. I had a pretty awful experience here about 1 1/2-2 years ago, but didn't feel like I should rant before trying it out again. Thankfully, I waited and tried a different stylist. I had a full highlight, cut, and conditioning treatment with Mandy yesterday, and it was truly lovely. She asked tons of questions, took notes, and rechecked all of our decisions before she started in on my mop. As we finished up, she gave me some great styling tips and offered suggestions for product in a helpful, easygoing way. My color is exactly what I imagined and the cut is even better! We talked through some of my common styling frustrations and solved them with scissors. I'll be back for sure. read more

If it's possible to give absolutely ZERO stars...that's what this particular experience was like for me. Although it seemed pleasant enough, the stylist had NO idea what she was doing. I asked for an asymmetric bob and ended up with one tolerable side of a haircut down to my chin and the other side looked like a five year old chopped off random sections and didn't even go past my ear. I've never had someone dispute the promotion when it came time to pay after I ordered it and reminded the stylist of it at the beginning of the session. Brittany is awesome. She really is the best stylist I have ever had. She is the first one to teach me how to style my hair instead of just doing something that I could never pull off at home. The salon itself is not fancy and nothing to write home about but I don't really care as long as I get a great result. They always offer me tea and water when I come in and I have never waited more than 5 minutes. She only sees me when I'm there and doesn't try to cram three other people in while I'm waiting. Mandy did an amazing job and deserves a shout out! I had tried the whole dye my hair myself thing during covid and let's just say I needed some professional help. I always like to try out places with a groupon first to see if I like them before coming back so I did with D'Ametris. Mandy didn't make me feel like less of a client for using a groupon and she did her very best to get my hair looking great again. The work she did was excellent! I had paid a fortune before for a well known color expert and they had nothing on Mandy. She took the time to make it look good and didn't rush me out. She also asked someone else there for a second opinion which I really appreciate. There's nothing worse than someone who just goes forward not knowing what they are doing at the expense of your hair. I respect people that ask someone for more information because I know they care about the results. The Groupon worked to get a new customer because I'll definitely be going back to Mandy. From the questions I called to ask before purchasing the groupon, to scheduling the appointment, the receptionist greeting me upon entering the salon for the first time, my stylist (Tanja) it was a very pleasant experience! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Now that it's been a few days I want to leave my review. My hair has lovely dimension and is gorgeous in the way it reflects light. Inside or outside it is beautiful and I want to thank Tanja so much for helping me, and beautifying me. I have been to this salon two times, one visit with Stephanie and one with Erica. Both times have been totally positive experiences with great stylists! The atmosphere of the salon is fantastic, and I have been extremely happy with my cut and color at the end of my appointments (not to mention how soft and healthy my hair feels afterward!). After 3 days of trying to call their salon to make an appointment and just receiving their voicemail I finally just asked Groupon for a refund. Don't bother. I struggled with this place for almost a year before I finally gave up and moved on. The atmosphere in a salon should be welcoming and warm. This place reeks of cold, arrogant and incompetent. Both of the owners have chairs in the salon. Even though neither of them was my stylist you would think that they might at least smile or say hi when they walked by their customers. But they generally either sat in their chairs flipping through magazines, looked past you as they walked by, or scowled your way when they picked their head up to look around the salon. The first time I tried to make an appointment I used their website, and didn't get a call back for about three days. Nothing wrong with setting your website up to allow appointments to be made online, folks. Lots of salons do it. As others have noted they never answer their phone, and they are terrible about calling back. Further, I have cancelled appointments before a week or two before the appointment only to have the receptionist call me the day before the appointment to confirm! They stylist I used kind of did her own thing, despite what I asked for. She often forgot to include services (such as the rinse out after the cut). Her haircuts were incredibly inconsistent. One time I would get what I asked for, another time not. Rarely did I get two haircuts in a row that looked the same. On one occasion I walked into the salon about 20 minutes before their closing to buy some Aveda product. The door was locked, and when I knocked on it the one stylist who was there came the door and told me coldly and indifferently that they were closed. When I pointed out that their sign said they were open for another twenty minutes and that I just stopped by to get product she begrudgingly let me in. As she was ringing up the product I asked her to make sure that I got my rewards points with Aveda, as they had failed to do that the last time I was there in spite of the fact that they said they would. After looking panicked for a minute she informed me that their POS system was not functioning correctly to integrate with Aveda, and that I should call back on Monday to have my purchase credited. I left the product and walked out. It would be nice to have a great Aveda salon in Olde Town, since it's my neighborhood. But this place is a disaster, and I guess I'll have to drive someplace else to get good service. read more

The salon owner, Ame, did my hair for quite some time and it was great, though slightly inconsistent from visit to visit. Then, bizarrely, my last visit I was absolutely butchered. When I called to speak with her about it, she asked me to see another stylist, telling me that she stands by her work. There was no attempt to fix the cut or any apology whatsoever. I'm not sure if she was having an off day and is just too proud to take responsibility or what the issue was, but now I'm left looking like I had my kindergartner cut my hair. Will update with information regarding whether a refund was processed. I certainly hope so as I need to find someone else to attempt to repair the damage as soon as possible. read more

I went to D'Ametris for the first time yesterday for a haircut. I was blown away at the level of expertise in the salon. It's so clean, welcoming and relaxing. Best warm herbal tea in town. Ame, my stylist, went through a thorough consultation to gather information about the journey of the cut. She took into consideration more things than I ever knew went into a cut...including cheek bones, jaw structure and forehead placement. She explained each of the products she was using to best fit my hair. As she washed my hair, my stress melted away. I love my cut and can't wait to play with some color as well. #fiercedoo read more

This overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth to the point in which, I will never come back., which is too bad, because my stylist actually did a good cut and color job, even though it felt rushed. I have been looking for a new hair salon and have been using groupons to shop around. My group was $69 and specifically said "single process color or partial highlights, haircut, style, and deep conditioning treatment." Tell me why then, right off the bat, my stylist tells me that she will have to charge me an extra $30 for all over color to pull the color to my ends?! Mind you, my hair only goes to my shoulders and Is very fine and thin. She told me that their "single process color" only covers 40 ml and that would only cover a root touch up, so to get all over color, it would be an extra $30. She told me the groupon explained this in the "fine print and rules" section, so I was willing to chalk it up to my mistake and my lesson would be learned for next time. I had to agree to the extra money because I HAD to have my hair done for my family pictures occurring that following weekend. She hurries through my cut, was a little brisk and uninterested/non attentive to me, but whatever, I could deal with that. What I could not deal with, however was being lied to. I looked over the rules section in my Groupon and couldn't find any specification about how much color could be used, or stating that the "single process color" treatment was actually just a root touch up. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, figuring she must be mistaken, there must've been a different groupon out that was ONLY for a root touch up. So, I ask her to show me where in the rules this is explained. She looks at my phone for over 5 minutes, cannot find it, then takes my phone to another stylist. As she is walking, another stylist exchanges glances with her and she rolls her eyes and the other stylist smirks. Seems to me, I'm not the first person who has had this problem! Of course, the third stylist can't find it in the rules either and says to me, "it doesn't say it on there, that's just the way it is." I was embarrassed to say the least and was not willing to further argue and cause a scene over $30, but seriously, that is false advertising, which is illegal. So, buyer beware because I spent well over $100 after I purchased the groupon, got up charged, and tipped, and no- this cut and style was not worth $130 :( read more

I am very much upset with them. I had high expectations from D'Ametris Aveda. I went there for a haircut and full hair color. She just removed split ends and said that whatever coupon I had will not cover the hairstyle packages. And she left my hair half colored. Please do not purchase Groupon coupons for D'Ametris Aveda as the coupon describes that for full hair color, haircut and hairstyle but I did not get any of those mentioned on the Groupon coupon. Here is my experience. I called to make an appointment to color my hair. They called me twice to make sure I was going to make it. I arrive on time, and stand there for at least 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. I meet the stylist, I tell her what I want as she shows no interest in what I'm looking for but rather on me completing paperwork. Then she walks away and starts cleaning her station (again, I had an appointment not a walk in). 30 minutes pass and then she approaches me again. I tell her what color I'm interested in which she is still showing no interest in servicing me. All I was thinking is I need to leave now but I thought I'd give her a chance. I've been going to D'Ametri's for years now after I was referred to them by family who have all been going there for years too. Even though I have lived in Denver and Littleton it is worth the drive all the way out to Arvada to see them. And I don't drive to Arvada unless I have to!! They do a way better job and are better priced than the "fancy" salons in Denver, and are way more relaxed and not uptight. Not the type of salon where you have to dress up to go there to fit in, you know what I mean? It's especially a good deal since it is an Aveda salon and their stuff is usually pricier. I see Jennifer for cuts & color and she is great! She will keep working with you until you get exactly what you want, and her color is AMAZING! Seriously. She did a colormelt in my hair (NOT ombre which is more pronounced) and it was so good everyone thought it was natural and couldn't even tell that it was dyed. No cheap bleached ends here. She even did my wedding hair, so you can trust her to do a good job. The only bummer? She is always booked because she is so popular! read more

I purchased a Living Social deal for $40 that gave me $100 in salon services. When I scheduled the appointment over the phone, the gal said that this would give me a cut and color with that coupon. When I got there, she said my hair length was long (2 inches past my shoulder) and to get a cut and color would require an extra $170 after my coupon. That was over $200 just for a cut and color! It wasn't even highlights, just all over color. I could not spend that amount so she offered a deep conditioner instead. She came back saying that the owner said I could receive a cut which is what I paid for the coupon. I thought fine, just give me the cut and I'm out of here. I couldn't let go of the fact that I wasn't getting my money's worth and the reason I purchased the coupon in the first place so I asked why I couldn't get my conditioner as she was washing my hair and the owner was standing there. She asked him and he said, sure she can like they didn't previously discuss it. I couldn't believe how awful they handled this and I was embarrassed that I had to ask to get what I purchased. The deep conditioner was just a little spray bottle that she sprayed and left in my hair during the cut. The only thing I can say is that the hairstylist was very nice and spent a lot of time on my haircut. She gave me a good haircut. The atmosphere was not inviting and no one bothered even saying hi or passing a smiling glance. I give 1 star to the gal who spent her time on me but other than that, this place treated me horribly because I had a coupon and wanted to jip me out of it. Not very respectable at all. read more

I have been going to D'Ametri's for several years, 6 or 7. I have had Tanya as my stylist the last 4. We have worked our way through several different styles over the years, all of them looked great and received lots of compliments, even though they were totally different from each other. That shows a great stylist, she can find all the different looks that make you look great without getting in the rut of the same hairstyle year after year. Throw in excellent scalp and hand massages and a great personality, plus a wonderful shop atmosphere and you will have the D'Ametri's experience. read more

I was happy so I came back but found out the haircut was more expensive than I was quoted because from the time I scheduled it to the time of the appt the stylist was promoted to the next level. I've been to D'Ametri's twice now. I was quite impressed by the questionnaire they gave me on my first visit, in which I discussed with stylist Annette I wanted no change whatsoever: my brown hair/blond highlights should stay the same, with definitely no copper or orange-y hues. Stylist was nice but guess what - my hair came out distinctly orange, and she saw it right away. She quickly invited me back in three days time to fix it, which she did so at least it looked better (but not great), but after 2x in 3 days, my hair was damaged. Disappointing - she said she had years of experience so I'm not sure why there was a problem. I'd been going to another Aveda salon for years without a problem. Came back a second time and requested a more senior stylist. She did a great job I was really happy with, but my partial highlight (with no haircut or additional service) was $110 -- with tip it was $130 -- ouch!! Most I've ever paid. read more

I did not expect this from this salon especially because of my good experiences with Aveda affiliated salons. I went for a hair color and after everything my hair didn't change color at all. So the stylist Brittany offered to redo it in two weeks. I scheduled the appointment with her but due to some conflict I changed my appointment and arrived at the clinic three weeks after the first appointment and she decided to tell me she is going to charge extra for the grown hair and she gave me a whole story about biting my hair which I didn't understand. I spoke to them 3 times on the phone in between appointments and they didn't mention anything about the extra charge. I just thought it was ridiculous and outright rip off. Despite the bad yelp reviews, I ventured in on the recommendation of a friend. I'm really glad I did. Based on the reviews, I elected to not buy a Groupon, and try them out full price, hoping that would earn me more respect. Honestly, I think it cost me $45, and I would have gladly paid much more for the care I received. On my first visit, my stylist, Robin, took a full hair history, much more thorough than any other I've ever had. I told her what I was looking for, she gave me her recommendation, we compromised, and she set to work. I appreciate the Aveda massage, and explanation of product selections (extra hydration in my case). She cut a few inches, blended some bangs I'm growing out, and brought life back into my layers. I've returned to her a second time, and will continue to book with her, because it is consistently lovely. I have thick, extremely long hair, and typically every single hair cut looks exactly the same. I used to seek out bold hair salons and tell them to be as extreme as they wanted, because it would inevitably just blend into boring. But not here. My shape has really held and I some how have more body. I love my haircut, whether or not I style it. read more
