I've been going to Chieko for probably over 10 years now (between different salons in Georgia). One of the reasons I've put off writing this review is because I don't think I could ever find the words to express how much this place means to me. But here is my very overdue attempt! It is truly difficult to come by hairdressers like Chieko. She is incredibly detail-oriented and has a skilled eye for finding the right hairstyle "fit" for you. She's simply so talented at what she does, and I know I can trust her with my hair 100%. I've seen Chieko for straight perms, curly perms, and a multitude of trims/haircuts over the years - all of which have left me a happy customer :). In the past decade, I've previously tried to get quick trims here and there from other hairstylists around Georgia, but I've always regretted it and wished I went to Chieko instead (and sometimes even would follow-up with an appointment with her to fix my hair back up ^^). Nowadays, I always "joke" with her that if she moved halfway across the world, I'd fly over there just to get my haircut from her (I don't think I'm actually joking, though!) Additionally, both Okko and Chieko (sisters, for those who don't know) are so sweet and always provide the best customer service. I always see the results of Okko on other customers are just as spectacular as those of Chieko as well. I just got back from my hair cut at Salon I with Chiko and i LOVED it! It was such a great experience for me. I have really thick curly hair, and it is very difficult to get it cut and styled in a way that I can replicate at home. Chiko understood everything I requested and I came out with one of the best haircuts I have had in a long.....LONG.... time. The price was on point(!), and i will most definitely be going back. Another lady was in there getting her hair done, and she was speaking with Okko about her experience. Okko commented that she was trained in Japan for 3 years, and worked in LA for 10, but she seemed so humble about her talents, which was great! Everyone I have spoken to is in love with this place, and I can see why. Cons: I honestly cant think of any Pros: ok theres a few.... I have been having Okko cut and color my hair for the past year since I moved to the area. Okko does a fantastic job! Even if she wasn't so great I would probably go back for the awesome head and shoulder massage she gives. She really takes the time to think about what would look best on you and give you suggestions but she will do your hair exactly how you want if you don't want to take her suggestions. I know because I resisted her suggestions for the first couple of times she cut my hair and the last time I let her do whatever she wanted and I love it! I had an awesome experience at Salon I! I went in for a haircut and highlights. The staff there was very nice and helpful. My hair stylist was Stacey. Sweet chica with a sweet and bubbly personality. She has been cutting my hair for awhile now and I would follow her anywhere =). She listens to what you want and only strives for perfection. I always get compliments on my hair because of her. They serve coffee, teas, and other beverages. The place is very clean and nice inside. The main stylists Okko and Chieko were so nice when I came into the store. Worst haircut I have ever experienced. Went in on Saturday (9/7/19) for a simple haircut with layers. I even took a picture with me to take any guesswork out of what I was asking for. She cut my hair, taking the liberty to cut off an EXTRA 3 INCHES. These are the choppiest, most uneven layers I have ever seen. When I got home, my husband and son hugged me immediately because they could tell I was unhappy. Cried for an hour, and thankfully cry a little less each day. Disappointed to pay for this haircut and then find (and pay) for another place to fix it. Hair is even too short to tie up and hide. read more

I have been following Okko and Cheiko around the Roswell/Alpharetta/John's Creek area for years and love the new salon they've opened at Salon I. I first tried them out after a referral by several good friends. They offer a comfortable experience and I often get compliments on my color and cut. Their specialty is color but they offer everything from the basics to full service. Prices are the going rate for a master stylist and colorist... I typically pay $115 when we do full highlights and style and i have longer hair. I love the shoulder rub they give after the thorough shampoo. Would recommend them to anyone! read more

I have been to Salon i twice now, first time was for highlights and cut, second time just for a cut. Chikko has done a great job taming my thick, wavy hair both times. My teenage boys and my husband have each been one time and were also very pleased. I've gotten so many compliments on the highlights she did, and the cuts are great as well. Plus they give you complimentary honey lemon tea that is DE-LISH and a mini-massage at the end. So glad to have finally found a salon that is consistent, reasonably priced, close-to home, and NOT snooty! read more

This was my first time at Salon i but definitely not the last. Okko trimmed my hair and cut my bangs, and she was amazing. She knows what she's talking about, and she knows what will look good on you. She does what you ask her to do, but she also offers fantastic suggestions that she thinks will make your style look even better - but she won't pressure you into agreeing with her. Chiko was styling someone else's hair across from me and she seemed just as professional. In fact, the entire staff is professional, hospitable, and friendly. I went to Salon I for the first time last Wednesday to get a haircut, base color, highlights, and low lights. My last stylist cut my hair into choppy layers with a color that did not blend with my natural hair color, so I needed someone who could correct these problems. I found this salon less than four miles from my house using Yelp, and was very happy to find an experienced stylist that did an exceptional job with my hair. Chiko discussed cut and color with me, asked me questions, and showed me color swatches to determine what I wanted...and I love the result! I have straight hair, and she blended the layers beautifully so that it is easy to style and still looks good the next day. I would highly recommend Chiko if you are looking for a fantastic stylist in a relaxed and professional salon. I will definitely go back to her when I need my next haircut and color! read more

So, I found this salon over a year ago when my previous hairdresser took off for Florida. It was conveniently around the corner and since I keep short hair, figured I should be able to get a good cut from anybody. Boy, was I lucky to stumble onto Okko and Chieko. I take turns with having them cut my hair. They have different styles but I always get a great cut. What I really like is that they're willing to offer opinions on what style looks best for me. Chieko just did my hair and its sooo fun and sassy, it makes me feel great. And its IDEAL for the start of the summer. Okko has given me cuts that my husband compliments. Both these ladies are talented and its such a nice place to go for service. It totally fits me and my style - which is on-the-go and no hair goop. And I can usually slip in for a cut with little notice, which is a BIG PLUS in my book! read more

After letting my hair grow for a while I decided to get it chopped off last night which was a big step. I felt like I was in good hands at this salon. Oko is a super sweet lady and really listened to what I had in mind. It was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. I like the relaxing atmosphere at the salon, I enjoyed the tea and was happy that there was no awkward small talk that some hair stylists force on their clients. It was also the first place I've gone to that didn't try to talk me into buying their hair products. I loved the head and shoulder massage I received and the hair cut turned out great! I am very grateful to have such a wonderful salon so close to home! I was able to make a last minute appointment online for my birthday and the price was extremely reasonable. Upon arriving at the salon, I was immediately sat in Chieko's chair. I was able to show her a picture of the shoulder-length, inverted bob I wanted and she got right to work. While I was having a dry cut, Chieko made sure that my hair was at least dampened before she started cutting. She was very efficient and clearly knew what she was doing! I especially appreciated not having to make small talk or yell over the blow dryer. I read a few reviews that stated you could have tea as a refreshment. I considered it briefly, though instead opted for water. The clear glass cup with the peaches added to my overall experience which was quite relaxing and serene. What sounded like an 80s classic internet radio station was great to listen to, as well. I look forward to when I need to visit again! They are the only salon I have seen that is open on Sundays, which will be very useful to me in the near future. read more

Okko was amazing! I wanted to wait and review after I saw how my color and cut held up. I am about to go for my second color/cut with her and am extremely impressed how well my hair looks after nearly 10 weeks. I came in asking for a DRASTIC change and Okko spent nearly 25 minutes talking to me about cutting 6+ inches of my hair off since I have NEVER had short hair in my life. She made great suggestions for what fit my face shape and what upkeep would be like. She also matched my low lights to my exact natural color and brightened my blonde to a beautiful cool tone. I have received nothing but compliments after she gave me a whole new style. All staff were friendly and attentive, my appt started on time (which never seems to happen anywhere) and I also appreciated zero product pushing at check out. I went to this salon after reading reviews with extremely high expectations. I haven't had my hair done in well over a year so I was really looking forward to them bringing life back to my hair. I brought in a picture of what I wanted for color. My cut is great, but the color left me almost in tears. The picture I felt was pretty straight forward, just some color around the face and a little on the ends. I got a FULL HEAD of highlights instead that looked orange to me. She did try to fix it and didn't charge me for everything she did which I really appreciated, but now I have to find somewhere to correct the color. I was very clear that I do not want my my hair darker. It looks very dark to me. I have very fair skin and blue eyes. Worst haircut ever!!! I went there to try a new salon and was excited based on all the reviews. The cut was horrible!!! I had hair all one length to my mid back. Showed pictures of Ashley Bensons curly shoulder length cut. I walked out with hair that barely touched my chin in front but still longer than shoulder length in back. Think a slanted bowl cut. I tried to question her on it and she kept telling me since my hair was curly it would shrink. But it would shrink all over, not just in the back!! I went to my regular stylist a d she said "you weren't kidding when you said it was bad!" It was horribly uneven - the sides were off by inches!! The layers were blunt and didn't flow. I have never been upset with a cut in my life and have the attitude "it's only hair" but this was the worlds worst hair cut! Please save your $50 and go elsewhere. I wish I had!! After this, ill NEVER cheat on my stylist again. read more

Really disappointed. All these good reviews gave me high hopes my hair cut would be great (I normally go somewhere else but they didn't have any availability for the next six days which seemed way too long to wait). My stylist didn't wash my hair even though it was super greasey (I had just worked out). She just wet the ends and cut/dried it. I thought it was weird but assumed she must know what she was doing. Even though it looked ok enough I went home and knew I had to immediately wash my hair since she hadn't and the roots felt dirty. My hair has a bit of a wave to it so after I got home, washed, dryed, and straightened it, there were obvious parts that should have been trimmed but must have been curled up higher when she was cutting. Now I have uneven hair and still have to wait six days before I can get into my normal place to fix this mess. Awesome... read more
