Long overdue review!! This was in Jan 2025 . I Asked for a solid red color and came out with 2 different colors from previous virgin hair. Charged me extra and took 3 times as long to fix my hair than expected. Havent trusted another stylist since. The junior stylist that did my hair was nice, it was the owners idea to charge me more and even when she took over she had to correct my money pieces (that i never asked for, added for a more blended look) 3 times . Great experience slightly pricey but when you go you'll see why great treatment and makes a simple haircut feel like a mini spa day

I've been hesitant to write this review due to the owners responses to the feedback on here along with being a client of hers for years... On 12/21/24 my husband treated me to A Keratin treatment and a haircut. I was hoping for a special day and a hairstyle I could be proud of for the holidays..... My experience started with a text shortly before my appointment saying she was 45 min late and needed to move the appointment time, I agreed. However, once I arrived I continued to wait another 20 minutes until finally her assistant just began the process for her. After Amanda finally arrived, I felt I was a burden to her as I was being ignored and rushed through the treatment process. From the beginning I made it very clear I wanted a dramatic change to my hairstyle, this included layers and a "V" shaped cut. The "haircut" took 10 minutes in fact it was only a trim. When I looked in the mirror I almost cried. My hair looked the same and had no "V" shape at all, just a straight line. Amanda argued that it was a "V" cut. ( I will let you be the judge) After the back and forth she told me that due to the treatment it would be 3 days before I could wash, style, or do my hair! Of course I was very unhappy to learn this, as I would have scheduled this for a different day, and not right before Christmas! Later, I reached out to Amanda personally expressing my frustration and looking for some type of resolution. However, she was unsympathetic and took no accountability for her actions as a business owner or as a stylist. My overall experience with the Keratin treatment and the haircut were very disappointing. It felt more like a wash and trim. Further, they neglect to tell you how long your appointment will be, how little it does to change your hair and for the next 3 days you can't wash style or do your hair. For $400 I should have walked out of there feeling like a million Bucks, not in tears. read more

Def the best salon in the Palm Desert Rancho area. During the pandemic, I completely stopped getting my hair done which was a strange experience, When it was safe to return, I discovered a hidden gem called The Bvsement Salon. Despite living an hour away, I made the drive down because I was so impressed by the exceptional service provided by Amanda, the owner and how my hair looked so amazing each time. After moving down this way, I tried several different salons, but none could compare to The Basement. I had a string of not the greatest experiences and ultimately decided to return to The Basement because of its reliability, reasonable pricing, and outstanding service. The salon even has a little snack basket and always offers coffee and water. The Basement Salon is super cute, well-kept, and clean, with a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant music. I also love their hair products for sale--they smell amazing! I've been a loyal customer for at least two years, maybe more I'm not sure. Also when Amanda is booked up, Melina often does my color and styles, and I adore them both the same as they have the same standards and attention to detail, I love that I never leave with the hair color on my skin. I saw Amanda for a fab color and cut two years ago, while spending a few winter months in PS. I was lucky enough to get back to PS this winter and seeing Amanda for cut and color was high on my to-do list, and she did not disappoint. Another salon experience gone sour. This would have been my third time coming to the bvsement. The last time i came in I shared I wanted to do some color to my hair; however they did not have the pink that I was hoping to get. So the plan was that I call ahead of time to remind them of the color to ensure they have it when i come back. Cool, sounds like a plan. I go on their online system to book my appointment and being unsure on how to go about my appointment as I would also need a touch up on my current hair color along with the added peekaboos I was hoping to get, i call the salon. I explain the situation and was told to book it and that I would get a call back to confirm. I then asked, again, I ASKED, if I could send an inspo pic to ensure they have the color. The receptionist provided me with the master stylist phone number to message the pic to. So I do. I then proceed to ask if what I booked under was okay as I was also looking to get my current color touched up. No response. I get a message to confirm my appointment, unfortunately there is no answer. I walk in Friday for my 4pm appointment. Told at 4:30pm that they are not able to do what I had asked for. Apart from wasting my time, The frustrating part is that I can hear the master stylist speaking with who I'm assuming took the call and proceeds to say that I did not tell her that. The master stylist never spoke to me. I do appreciate the young lady in the front assisting me and apologizing for the miscommunication. But as I explained to her, it is frustrating to work on the preventative end to ensure this doesnt happen and it still did. read more

Amanda is AMAZING! I'm growing out my grey and wanted a fun, modern, sexy look. She listened to what I ultimately wanted to FEEL about my hair, then she educated me on what was possible with my hair, and we came up with a plan. Actually, what happened is I handed over the art to the skilled artist! I counted 5 different colors happening on my head as a result of past unfinished highlights from a different salon, years of box coloring, a history of henna, 3 months of grey grow out - AKA a Mess of color! I went to Amanda for help, to make my hair color be purposefully designed. She nailed it! She's all about healthy hair, not over processing, and I appreciate this because in the past a stylist lifted my hair too much, too quickly, didn't educate me with option and then my long healthy hair broke off! Amanda and her stylist team want what's most beautiful and healthy. Period. The salon felt spacious and minimalist, with a fresh breeze coming in. I enjoyed relaxing for the several hours the process took. Her friendly, sweet and down to earth co-stylist were right there along side her, supporting each other the whole time. End result is beyond what I thought possible! I feel sexy and playful, and so @&#% happy! I have brown hair and she did just enough peek-a-boo lights upfront to work with the grey but not wash me out. Someone has to really understand their products (she uses the best and most expensive products) and work with each person's individual hair and hair history. So impressive. I've already referred her to my hotel's concierge who's my age and was stuck by how my hair looks. She's growing her grey hair out too and will be calling Amanda's salon for peekaboo highlights.
