I chose Swank because it's a faith-based business, and I loved that their website shared not only their values but also the stylists' bios and photos. Everyone looked like they genuinely enjoyed working together, which gave me confidence. I booked with Avery, and I couldn't have made a better choice! I hadn't had a haircut since Covid, so my hair was long, fine, thin, and very straggly. Avery greeted me warmly and helped me get settled (I'm currently in a wheelchair, and the salon was very easy to access and navigate). She listened carefully as I explained my concerns about my hair being thin and falling out despite supplements and oils. She shared her own experience with hair loss after Covid and recommended a product that helped her. Seeing her gorgeous, healthy hair gave me hope! We also discussed shampoos for frizz and fullness, and she suggested one she personally uses. She cut my hair and it was absolutely FANTASTIC. My hair feels lighter, fuller and looks great. I couldn't be more pleased. On top of that, I learned she also does wedding hair and makeup--which is perfect, since she'll now be doing mine next year! The atmosphere at the salon was welcoming--Courtney even chatted with me when I arrived and while I checked out, which was a sweet touch. I've reviewed her before, but long story short -- there are only about a billion good things to say. Headwaves has a model where each stylist has a little station within the salon, and they manage their own schedules and are generally more independent than at other salons. I personally love that model, because the service you get feels more personal. It's definitely a lot quieter and less busy than a lot of other salons that are open-plan layouts, so if you love that, this is the place for you! I love knowing that everything I pay for at the end of my visit goes directly to my stylist. I've been with Lindsey for years, all through college and now grad school, and even though I live in Dallas, I only schedule hair appointments when I know I'll be home in Little Rock. I've followed her to this new salon, and I would follow her anywhere! She's so good at knowing what I prefer, what looks good on me, what products are best for my hair, etc. We do cut and color almost every time, and I think she does a great job at balancing trying new things so I don't fall into a rut with my hair, while still keeping the basics strong. She's also great at helping me find products that work well and are worth their price tag. I would LOVE if she decided to relocate to Dallas, but for now, I'll keep making the 5 hour drive.

I did have layers but my hair is already really heavy so I didn't want any choppy hair that made it look like I had more than I needed to. But anyway, Mina did an amazing job. I took a picture of a hairstyle that was drastically shorter than mine and she picked up great details and did it very fast as well. I'm very satisfied and will definitely go back to her.
