For context, I am a college age girl with thick brown hair that exclusively asks for long layers and face framing pieces. The first time I went to BUBBLES, I told Clair I wanted 2 in off. She preceded to take off at least 4 in. I kinda of shrugged it off at first but I was not happy when I left. The second time I went to the salon, to a different stylist, I got botched layers and my hair was in the shape of a v for months. I come back today (because my sister swears by Clair and this place and her hair always turns out perfectly) with inspiration pics, asking questions and being as involved as I could have been. I asked for 2in off, mind you my hair is all the way down my back at this point. Clair, again, assures me all will be well and by the end of the appointment had chopped off 7 INCHES of my hair. At the end of the appointment she says "oh, I didn't realize how much I cut off" and offers me a 10% discount, which was not only upsetting but also insulting to say the least. Keep in mind, 2 more inches and I would have had a bob. I am so appalled and upset that that was the reaction I got. I am never one to complain or cause a problem, but I had been growing out my hair for 1.5 years up to today, so I am really upset. My hair does not hold curl, so I have no idea how to style this mess I now have to deal with and will probably have to spend more money and time than ever. This place is so incompetent and careless and I cannot believe I let them do this to me again.

The place is sanitized between each customer appointment, has an air purifier in the studio, and precautions are taken in place for covid. You have to ring the phone buzzer so that a limited amount of people can enter the building. Make sure to book an appointment since Choi fills up quickly! I'm usually pretty picky with how my hair is cut, especially since Asian hair can be tricky to cut but Choi has always been able to cut my hair based on my facial shape and give me pointers on how to style my hair that is personalized to me. Plus Choi is always such a pleasure to converse with!

Then Junior washed and rinsed her hair and gave her scalp a massage as she was leaning back in her chair. She was enthralled. Finally he towel dried her hair and applied oil to her scalp. Judith was very pleased. He had done exactly what she requested and done it well. Finally, as we went to pay, Junior followed us and said "no payment necessary. She really worked magic with my unruly and curly hair and taught me how to style it myself. The best part about my haircut is that I can recreate the style at home! I opted for the "Deva Treatment" for curly hair that included a dry cut, wash and deep conditioning, then styling. The care that went into the cut and showing me how to style it moving forward was very much appreciated. I recommend the treatment as a first visit but future visits can only be the dry cut (making it only just more than double what I would normally pay ‍). Also, it took about 3 hours for the cut, wash, deep conditioning, & styling...another reason to only do the dry cut in the future. I'm not really sure I can justify the cost too much to return but I'm also not sure I can say that I've ever loved a haircut like I do this one. Four stars is mainly for price.
