I was a loyal client at Current for five years and referred multiple friends. While I've had some excellent color results there over the years, I ultimately decided not to return because the level of service became too inconsistent to justify the premium pricing. On my final visit, I paid over $275 (before gratuity) for partial highlights with a Level V stylist. The color itself was beautiful, but I was surprised by the limited amount of highlighting performed and later shared photos with the stylist showing a few noticeable gaps in color. The issue appeared minor and seemed easily correctable. Instead of being invited back for an evaluation or correction, I was told the issue was related to the quality of my hair and was advised to take a collagen/biotin supplement and come back in a few months. None of these concerns about my hair were communicated to me during my appointment. Even more disappointing was the lack of follow-through from management. After I reached out, I was told the matter would be reviewed and that I would receive a follow-up. That follow-up never came. A few months later, I declined a future appointment and explained why--again, I received no response. My biggest disappointment was how my concerns were handled afterward by both the stylist and management. A disappointing appointment can often be resolved. A lack of communication and accountability is much harder to overlook. For that reason, I've chosen not to return. read more

They melted my hair off at this salon. Chunks of hair and as melted off in foils and the stylist Myko tried to cover it up. When the manager Gabriella called me she tried to blame me for picking the wrong service!!!! Wow. Really? $450 for melted hair. The manager Gabriella instead of apologizing blamed me ! Then hung up on me. No resolution. If they don't refund me I'll have to take them to court. I'll keep you guys posted. Overly priced salon Below average skill level. I saw Gary back in July 2025 for a color correction and "reset" back to my natural color after years of dying and bleaching at home. 10/10 he is amazing he got me exactly where I needed to be to be able to get my hair back to a healthy base. Finding a good stylist who fits your vibe is hard. I've been through quite a few in my hair journey, but never been happier than being at Current. To find a stylist you can just tell hey this is what I kinda want and they can use their creativity to give you something better is rare! My stylist, Nargees, is always so bubbly and energetic, but also is someone who I can trust with my hair. She's a master of color and style. She takes time to make sure your hair is what you want, tells you what is realistic, and makes sure you know how to maintain after! Tip: I recommend before going to a stylist check their Instagram to make sure what you want is something they do. This salon is in the One Loudoun shopping center close to the parking garage. I came in on a Wednesday around midday when they had one appointment available. I hadn't gotten my hair cut since November. I'm trying to grow it out, so a haircut was overdue! I had also wanted to change the style a little bit to be a little bit more fitting with my curls that I had no idea were much curlier than I knew! Aubry was my stylist, and she taught me a lot about the type of curls I have and helped me get started on establishing a good hair care routine. I love my current style and absolutely appreciated what I learned about how to take care of my curls. The salon was decorated so luxuriously and was really clean even though it was pouring rain that day. My interaction with the front-end staff was great: everyone was friendly and helpful. Service was definitely top-notch! I am coming back in May to have a color service done for the summer. I will absolutely come back in the future! Prices were too high for something I did not even ask for. They charged me 400 for minimal high lights. Prior to getting my hair cut I had asked how much they would charge me for minimal high lights and they quoted $289. As I go to the register, the lady comes in and said it would be $400. I told the lady what they had quoted me prior and she dropped the price to 350??? My hair looked almost the same when I got out. I got highlights else where and paid 180. Crazy. read more

I just moved to the east coast from the Cali and I was researching for weeks to find a place where I can trust them with my hair. Umit did a beautiful job on my hair . He knew exactly what I wanted and understood that I didn't want my whole head bleached, I wanted dimension and natural tones, and to start slow, gradually building and changing my balayage over time. I am someone who is very particular about technique (after receiving and seeing some botched jobs, but also getting great ones) and he is such a PRO! I had not received a balayage in a few years after a botched job and he put life back in to my hair. Are the 'Masters of Balayage' in the room with us? I went in with long, thick, healthy hair. Left with overprocessed, damaged, gummy hair because the stylist, Umit, was hopping between two clients and left me sitting with bleach as it overprocessed. He couldn't speak English at all so communicating with him was entirely through the owner, Nese, who was also running between clients so I never truly received a proper consultation that I have had at previous salons. My hair is naturally very dark and I wanted a lighter balayage with a reddish brown base and golden blonde pieces. I showed them both multiple pictures hoping they, as professionals, would be able to base something off the inspo pics and execute something well-suited for my hair. Unfortunately, I put my expectations too high because I ended up with a completely different color than I wanted. As a brown girl, straight-up copper/orange tones do not compliment my skin, but that is exactly the color I ended up with. The blend was awful, and the roots remained untouched, but he did a super light money piece that I never even asked for. Styled, with the salon lighting, I thought it was fine until I stepped into natural light and realised how bad it was. Had to return the next morning to get it darkened. Couple of days later, the more I looked at my hair, the more I hated it. Aside from the lack of dimension and the orangeness, I was upset to have paid such a hefty amount for it to not even look like a fresh balayage because my roots were not blended at all. I communicated with Nese online and she agreed to let me come back and upon seeing it herself in person, she agreed the roots and the crown area needed to be touched up further. I also shared that those blonde pieces that were in my inspo pics, I didn't have them at all. So she told him to add a couple of lighter pieces as well. THIS MOMENTTTTTT. I think back to this moment and keep wishing I could turn back time and RUN out of that salon before he touched my hair again because this is where the damage happened. He roughly started bleaching my hair again, THICK strips of hair being foiled straight from the roots. I sat in the chair with heavy foils, completely unaware of what was going on, Because he was between clients, he left me sitting there for a while which is where I think the damage happened, that or he used a super strong bleach, or both. After the tone and wash, an assistant and Umit started brushing my hair while it was WET and he was harsh with it to the point it hurt and looking back now, I can't imagine how much of my hair must have fallen out in that sink because the bleach had ate away at it. He dried and styled my hair and I noticed I was lighter. The blow dry was done nicely so right away I felt happy that it seemed closer to what I had wanted. I thanked him and left the salon and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed the top of my head, with the blonde pieces, was streaky and a completely different color than the rest of the balayage. It was a disgusting GREEN-yellow blonde while the bottoms were that orange shade. Not to mention, the blend technique was messy and patchy, with just strips of that 'blonde' against my black roots. I paid $500 for it to look like I had done it at home with one eye closed. I went to work with a headband and hair in bun in efforts to HIDE my professionally done hair because of how cheap and awful it looked. Again, 'masters of balayage' where??? When I wash my hair, it's gummy. It stretches like elastic, breaks off easily, is constantly always frizzy, and looks dry and brittle. I had to contact Nese again and fight for a refund. But that refund is meaningless because the damage my hair has suffered is irreversible and the mental toll it has taken is something I can't put in words. (I haven't cried this much in years, let's just leave it at that). I now have to spend extra $ on products like Olaplex, K18 and am scheduled for a keratin treatment. Don't be deceived by the nice location and the social media posts. You don't want the damaged hair that I'm currently sitting with, it's absolutely sickening to deal with it. Save your money too. Go somewhere else. Or stay natural. Boring, natural hair is 10000% better than damaged, dry, gummy hair that continues to break. read more

My daughter had her haircut there today and walked out inconsolable. First, she wanted a trim but it ended up shorter than she wanted. Then, her hair stylist said as soon as we walked in the door that he didn't have time to blowdry her hair. I should have walked out then and there. What was supposed to be a 1 hour session, he barely did anything and rushed her out in 35 minutes, with me $130 poorer. against my better judgement I paid. I shouldn't have. Don't go to Mayko or current salon as their service has really gone downhill. I know coz I got a haircut a few weeks back and it wasn't great but I'm a grown up and I said hey, it's just hair. when my kid is upset though and I'm ripped off a second time, that's another story. read more

I recently visited Current Salon for the first time for a consultation with Nese. She was incredibly thorough, she listened, provided her professional advice, and made me feel comfortable right away. She was committed to helping me address my concerns and ended up doing my hair herself a couple of days later. What a treat!! Although it's obvious that Nese is a master at her craft, she never did anything without consulting me and making sure I agreed. I wanted to look youthful and natural and she chose techniques to accomplish just that. It was a wonderful experience in every way. i've had my hair colored there many times but i got a hair cut yesterday and it's safe to say i will never get another hair cut there. One side is completely different than the other and now my hair is too short to even try and get it fixed. I went to target today to get hair clips to try and hide these uneven layers until they grow out enough to get somebody to fix it. it genuinely looks like i'm a little kid who got gum stuck in her hair and this was the haircut her mom gave her to try and hide the chuck of hair missing by her face. (i didn't even ask for layers, just to slightly thin out the ends) this is really disappointing and now every time i look in the mirror to do my hair i will think about the 80 bucks i wasted at this fucking salon. read more

I recently moved to the area and chose this salon based on its positive reviews. I went in to tone down my very blonde highlights--especially after some tropical sun exposure--but ended up with a much darker color that had a greenish tint and noticeable red roots. This was my first time getting an all-over dye, and it was quite unexpected. Although the salon offered to correct it, I didn't feel comfortable returning. I decided to have it fixed elsewhere, and the results there were much better. Unfortunately, it may take years for my hair to fully grow out from the initial treatment. read more

I booked a haircut session with Shugofa there. Everything went highly smooth and was professionally handled. Have been to many stylists who keep on recommending some or the other products while tending to your hair ( even if you are not looking for the advice ) , but she did not try to sell anything to me which was a HUGE plus. I got a little educated on hair styles in photos vs reality! It was a great decision to go there. The salon itself has great vibes with a warm welcome from the receptionist ( I couldn't catch her name ). All in all, it's a PLUS if you wanna go and get your hair done. I've been going to Current Salon for over two years. Because I'm not the best at booking ahead, I've seen several different stylists and have loved them all!! I've been super happy with every cut, color and threading. I generally see Salim, who started at s Level 1 and has since been moved up to Level 2. I've seen Samir, Level V and Shugafa, Level III while he's been away and most recently, Lexi, who is a new, Level 1 stylist. She recently did a balayage and she nailed it! I was most impressed when one of her Level V, peers, Brittany came over to check in to make sure she was comfortable with what she was doing. Both she and Samir complimented her as well as Nese. I sip on Turkish coffee, relax with a soothing shampoo and wash, and enjoy being pampered. I love my balayage and new look!! I was hesitant to go too light but I think I'll be more daring next time. Updating my review because it's been three years and I am still as obsessed with Current and Hazel as ever. They moved to a new location since my last review and the new location is EVERYTHING! They're now located in the hopping One Loudoun shopping center, which means it's so much easier to find and there's a ton to do, plus the salon space is massive and super swanky. I love how modern it is - it feels so chic. They have really expanded the number of stylists - I am hooked on Hazel, but every person I see come out looks BOMB so I know all their staff is amazing. Hazel is a hair goddess - over the past few years, she has really gotten to know me and what I like. Every time she does my hair, even if I say "do whatever you want" it looks healthy and like she pulled my ultimate hair goals ideas right out of my mind. Even with frequent dying, she knows I love low maintenance looks, so she always recommends things that are easy for me to keep up. My hair always looks strong and healthy - and I get compliments on it all the time. She is used to my random requests of bringing in wigs or hair extensions and saying "match this" and does it all the time-perfectly. She is SUCH an amazing hair colorist and stylist that I love letting her just work her magic. To top it all off, she's one of the most kind people on the planet, so spending a day in her chair is always an awesome day. I highly recommend booking in advance because she's always full, but I've gotten good luck on her cancellation list if I need something last minute. 15/10 would recommend and would go back for everything.
