It seems in this salon there is some misunderstanding between the Haircuttery Company and the Salon. The Company sends coupons and promises to the clients, and the workers in the salon have a hard time keeping up with all that. So be aware that you may have to discuss e.g. what exactly is a "classic blowout" ( for the manager, Farah, that does not include any rounded waves on the ends, but should be called "Deluxe blowout" and paid quite a bit extra. Farah seems quite stressed, irritated easily. My hair was done by Mana, who was calmer and listened better to my points about the pricing. She was extremely fast (wash, cut and blowdry of shoulderlong, thinnish hairin 25 minutes) and understood better the arithmetic of the pricing . She gave me a a good haircut (2 inches off, the ends, blunt line). The blowdry was a bit underwhelming, too straight although I had wanted at least 1 good wave and showed her a similar photo in the salon. However, she was friendly, so I am thankful to her and gave her a 35% tip . read more

This was genuinely the worst salon experience I've ever had. I was quoted $36 for a blow dry only, which is exactly what I wanted. After the stylist washed my hair--when it was already wet and I had no real option to decline--she informed me it would be an extra $13 because of the length. At that point, I felt cornered into agreeing. Then, despite me clearly asking for a blow‑dry style only, she tried to use a flat iron. I told her I didn't want that, yet she still ended up doing half flat iron, half blow dry, leaving my hair looking awkward and nothing like what I requested. To make matters worse, the final bill came to $52, which was more than the upcharge she quoted. I walked out feeling deceived, overcharged, and extremely disappointed. I will never return to the Ashburn Hair Cuttery. The staff were dishonest, dismissive of what I asked for, and the service was absolutely not worth the money. read more

I came in for a haircut and was taken within 5 minutes. I asked for a buzz cut number four and she took care of that and asked if I wanted it to remain a little long in the back or make it shorter and I opted to go the shorter route. She went ahead and she trimmed a little bit off the top with the scissors and made it look really nice. I got a shampoo to clean up and get all the flakes out of my hair. It wasn't crowded and my stylist was very respectful of getting it done and completed and I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. For a buzz cut and a shampoo. That's about what it should take. Great job and I'll be back if I'm in the area. read more

Farah is a wonderful, talented stylist. I came in with very brittle hair that constantly tangles. She knew just what my hair needed and did a deep condition with plant based ingredients to help revitalize my hair and gave me a great cut that was just what I wanted. The haircut itself! She did not know how to blend my hair, nor did she see that there were areas that weren't even. I explained that the last person who I got a haircut from cut this one part of my hair way too short and I had to have it grow out because I needed the length. I usually get my hair cut every 2 weeks, but it had been ; She did not cut in even lines, grabbing hair here and there and making cuts, she didn't check any of the lines she cut, and I ended up having to hold my own hair down, and continually point out where it wasn't even. She said "let me "shampoo" (which meant spray my hair with cold water in the bowl and literally pour shampoo on my head and just tap it, then rinse). Then I ended up just styling my own hair in the chair because I needed it to be styled to effectively point out how bad it looked. She would then take a snip here and a snip there and hack at this one area with blending shears. I finally said I was done and then she said "now you can come back in 4 weeks after your hair grows out again." Do not go here if you want an even haircut! Maybe she does women's hair better?!?! read more

I booked a cut, and blow dry with Farah since her colleague at a different salon had mentioned her name and I thought the location was close to me, but I regret going to her because she cut my hair uneven and messed up the back, so I would like a refund. After that negative experience, I had to spend a lot of money to fix that problem because the longer my hair grew, the worse it looked. Two hair stylists, wasted time, and lots of money really taught me a big lesson. read more

Do NOT come here if you have curly hair. My sister and I came into this location for a quick trim, we have curly hair (3B). We we're not offered a wash which is included in the cut until we asked for the service. Robert cut my sisters hair and did a poor job, he was unable to brush it all the way through. He handed my sister the brush and said it would take "too long" for him to do it so she should. This is when I asked for the wash and they agreed. The whole haircut was awkward and unsatisfactory as it was clear he was not able to cut curly hair. He never brushed through her whole head and just combed the ends and cut. I called in advance to see if they cut curly hair and they said they do all hair types. Clearly they can't cut curly hair clients, don't waste your time. read more

We had to wait 30 minutes after our appointment time to be seen, although we had booked our appointment. I already sensed that it would turn out sour, and sadly it did. It was my daughters first time getting curtain bangs and layers and she was real excited, but her experience was not pleasant at all. Leila was rushing through it. She barely washed her hair & condition it half way. Her haircut (layers) was not even and her curtain bangs was much shorter than we asked for. All because another one of her irate customers was waiting for their appointment. Next time, it would be nice to book appropriately. read more

Hard to rate this salon. It was clean, the folks are friendly, and I was taken back promptly at my appointment time. But the cut was not good, kind of an 80s throwback. I did notice that most of the clientele was on the elderly side on the day I visited. Each time I was asked if I had checked in, I told the person I had a 1:00 with Robert. At 1:50 the stylist said "someone else take it." Needless to say, at that point I left, scheduled an appointment at the Dulles 28 location, and had a great appointment at that location. read more
