I've passed this place quite a bit, but have never stopped in prior to NYE. I was looking for a salon open on a Sunday, and luckily, this one had popped up on my Yelp results! Upon arriving you can either park in front off Merrick Rd, or there is a parking lot and additional entrance in the back. I was scheduled with Victoria for a blowout - she was very friendly and easy to talk too, and most importantly, she listened to what I wanted! I initially wanted to try a blowout with curls, but let her know I usually opt for straight hair, so I may or may not like the curls despite my request to try something different. After curling my hair, which originally looked great, unfortunately the style itself was just not for me. She was very easy to provide feedback too and let me know her main priority was that I walked out happy. We worked together until the style was right, and I walked out loving my hair!! read more

I came to this salon because my coworker Alyssa recommended it, and I couldn't be more happy that I decided to bite the bullet and get a new haircut for the new year. The staff was nice, the salon was clean and pleasant and didn't smell like harsh chemicals or smoke (you'd be surprised by how many do). It had a subtle ambiance perfect for a weekend cut. I had Lisa cut my hair and besides the wash, she was the only person doing my hair. That was so unexpected because at other salons I would have multiple people doing my hair due to double or triple booking and only have the main stylist check in every now and then. I was so happy to have the focus entirely on me especially because I was super nervous as I have had bad experience with salons before. Lisa was patient and knew exactly what I wanted from my brief description. She did the cut in steps so I wouldn't be too shell shocked by the end result and asked for my feedback about layering. Most people who hear the words "I haven't gotten a haircut in a while" immediately want to push a full chop onto their client, but Lisa evaluated my hair and suggested we keep the length and even out the ends/cut off all the dead hair. She gave me a bunch of tips about maintaining my hair's health so I can get it to the next stage that I want (eventual bleach). And on top of that, the cut was extremely affordable!!! I've had an experience at La Cole Salon in Seaford that I feel I need to share. I want to make sure you're forewarned about what might happen if you ever find yourself in a similar situation there. On Friday, August 11th, I went to La Cole Salon for a haircut. Initially, I didn't realize how bad the cut was due to the hairdresser's technique and the fact that she straightened my hair so flat it was hard to see the damage. However, when I washed and styled my hair at home two days later, it was a complete disaster. It was uneven, and my hair was breaking off and butchered to say the least. Unfortunately, they were closed on Sunday at 9 pm when I realized this, and I was leaving for Greece on Tuesday, which made the situation even more challenging. I had to go to Supercuts on Monday for an emergency fix, and they were appalled at the damage the hairdresser had caused and both hairdressers stated it was a razoring technique .They had to cut off a lot to make it look decent. When I got back from Greece, I decided to email La Cole Salon, attaching pictures to show the state of my hair before and after. My intention was to provide feedback and maybe find a solution. But their response was far from professional - and they seemed to imply that I just didn't like the cut. I believe a refund or a more professional response, even just a simple apology, would have been a suitable way to handle the situation. Unfortunately, she explicitly stated that refunds weren't an option. To make matters worse, after I informed her that I was going to share my experience, the owner emailed me again, accusing me of lying and fabricating the razor technique explanation. Regardless of the technique used, the result was a severely damaging haircut that cost me $55, plus a tip! I don't want to create drama even though it seems that the owner wanted to by her response , but I believe you should know about my experience if you're considering La Cole Salon in Seaford. Your experience may differ, but it's essential to be aware of what might happen. I have to agree with some of the negative reviews here. Brought my daughter in for a basic trim (long, one-length hair) and a few highlights. She ended up looking like a zebra with striped hair and the ends cut so uneven that one side was over an inch longer than the other! That said, I did have a good haircut done by a different stylist, so I'm not giving one star, but I won't be going back. read more

I'm giving LaCole Salon two stars- The salon is nice inside, clean and I have had good service there in the past. The last time my usual stylist canceled last minute (seeI needed a haircut for an upcoming wedding so I took an appointment with Felicia. BIG MISTAKE. Felicia was soooo unprofessional. She spent the whole time bad mouthing other stylists in her salon and stylist in other salons. She then started speaking about her personal experiences. I don't know what is wrong with her to be saying such things It was the most uncomfortable situation I've been in. This is the first time meeting her.This is all while I am getting my haircut. I couldn't leave mid haircut I retrospect I should have. It was the worse haircut I have ever received . I had to go and get of fixed. Got a referral from a friend and then found out the salon would be moving to my town by March! It would be within walking distance!! I looked at Yelp reviews and made an appointment with Samantha. I am very particular about my hair since it's thick and curly. I was not disappointed. They gave me a warm first time client welcome and set me up in their clean and modern space. My consult with Samantha was great. She asked me questions, understood what I wanted and made recommendations. My hair came out great!! Sam was super nice. Everyone in the salon was friendly and professional. I was also happy to see it was full service. You could get a manicure while you got your hair done. What a time saver!! The girls from Alure in Amityville moved here after a fire burned down their salon. They're just as good as ever. I'm loyal to Liz and would follow her anywhere. No one cuts like she does. HOWEVER, the prices for these girls are starting to get bumped up. I don't know if it's because they're being matched to Lacole's prices, or if the salon is hiking up costs entirely. I was there last week for a blow out and when I went to the front desk expecting my usual $35, they told me it was $45. I was shocked. For just a wash and blow dry, that's absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't let it go so I called the salon a few days later to find out why I was charged more than usual and why I wasn't informed beforehand - the receptionist giggled and asked me to call back so she'd have some time to get an answer for me. I LOVE Liz but from now on, I'll only go there for cuts. For everything else, I'll be doing some hunting for a new place. :( read more

I think this salon is decent, but there are too many hair stylists here who make mistakes. Also the older lady at the front desk with the dyed brown hair has an attitude problem and really brings the places vibe down (I think she's the owners wife, she acts really entitled you'll know who she is.) I liked one stylist named Nikki at this salon, who I went to for almost a year growing my undercut. Unfortunately I believe she was going through some personal stuff and missed 2 of my appointments in a row. I had to move on to bangz salon because she was the only stylist who did it right. I explained I recently dyed my hair blonde and asked if it could be washed with purple shampoo, which was not a problem. I'll start off by saying I don't think this was a bad salon, I just didn't enjoy my experience. The salon seemed busy, but even with how busy it was I still saw girls who worked there standing around on their phones or huddled in a corner gossiping. The hairdressers (with exception of a few) walk around wearing leggings, t-shirts and flip flops. I felt like my stylist left her backyard bbq and came to work. The shampoo girl I had was terrible. She was given simple directions for when to wash out my hair and put on the toner, and I felt anxious in the chair knowing she was doing it all wrong. The stylist did eventually come over and take over when she noticed. The same shampoo girl was then brushing out my hair so harshly. She was too concerned with checking her phone and seemed super immature. Maybe all the people there are used to this type of service in a salon, but I'm definitely not. This salon was horrendous. BRIDES BEWARE. I met someone on Facebook that was raving about their salon and how amazing it was, and how many awards it received from TheKnot.com and all of these bridal websites. Her and I were both on a bridal forum and I was so excited at the prospect of making bride friends, especially ones who did hair. Being a bride-to-be, I was looking for a place to have a hair trial and ultimately have my hair done as well as my bridesmaids. I scheduled what I thought was supposed to be a hair trial but was actually a "consultation"....I ended up spending money on highlights and bullshitting with said individual. I am shy when it comes to asserting myself in a service setting. I do not like to be rude, crass or anything like that. So after having her touch up my color (which was NOT the reason I went there) I asked her when we were going to do the trial. She responded "oh no, I don't do bridal. You need to come back for that". So I wasted my time and my money. Fast forward to the day of my wedding and the entire time between then and that day she was assuring me that this lady Lisa was "THE BEST" and she was going to be "AMAZING" and I would be the most beautiful bride. Who doesn't want to be the most beautiful bride? This Lisa walked in late, HUNGOVER, with a bad attitude. I needed extensions because I have short hair and when I told her what I wanted done she gave me a horrendous attitude and said it wasn't able to be done. When she finished my hair I hated it but again, I'm not one to be rude and my MOH told her she better fix it because it looked messy and awful. They were completely unorganized, rude and obnoxious. They guaranteed me that my hair would stay all day with the extensions- my hair barely lasted until the reception. I would NEVER recommend this salon to anyone. They were the worst customer service wise and beyond. Ladies, if you are doing bridal hair I urge you to go somewhere else. read more

I really hate to have to write this review, but I feel compelled to warn my fellow ombré-ers or those considering the look. I have been to this salon before, but only for cuts, and they are great, Vikki is great, I've been seeing her since I was literally 12 and I'm 25 now. I have an ombré, I had gotten it done august '13 in manhattan and it was absolutely perfect. However, since it had been a year since I've touched it up, I needed to have it done. Decided to go to Gwen this past June (she had done my sister's ombré, so I wasn't very concerned). It was just a mess. In her defense, I have a lot of hair and asked for her to paint on the color (bayalage, which I highly recommend for ombré color because it's more natural and not as harsh on your hair). Instead of natural looking color, that faded from brown to blonde, I received streaky blonde highlights starting in the middle of my head. If the color had started at my roots it would have been fine for highlights, really. But as an ombré, it was terrible. I had to wear my hair up for a month until I was able to get it fixed at the salon in the city I previously gotten it done at (FYI it's FOX AND JANE, on the lower east side, with jamielynn, she's a miracle angel). So basically, in short, go here if you want a haircut with Vikki. If you're looking for color, this place is totally acceptable, just DO NOT ASK FOR A PAINTED BAYALAGE OMBRÉ or you will be very very sad. read more

Worst place! I moved in the area recently and wanted to try out a local place. The first time I went in I wanted my blonde highlights, they looked terrible on the top. You could still see my darker roots and it was uneven. Went back in for a redo, showed a pic of what I wanted it to look like. I asked for heavier highlights around my face and top of hair not lighter ones. Ended up with practically white highlights on the top of my hair not blonde. In addition to that when they washed my hair out they rinsed me in a sink that had some sort of red dye in it and that made my hair on the top turn pink !!!!! Check your sinks before do your damn job its not that hard... Not rocket science!! Horrible and just rude people! I would not recommend going there ever ! Definitely check out majestic hair salon across the street 20x better! I have been getting my hair highlighted for almost 15 years and never has it ever been this bad !!! read more

I had previously went to The Cactus Academy in Roosevelt Field for color and cut, and after leaving there in tears with what they did to my hair and how I was treated, I found this gem. I booked my daughter for an updo for her sweet 16 a month before. The day of her party the receptionist called me n asked if I can reschedule or make it for a earlier time, but of course we couldn't do that bc I had made her make up appt set up already! I said I wish u could've let me know prior. So we get there 12 minutes late n when I walked in with my daughter the man I can't remember his name but worked at majestic too and has dark hair. He had such a puss on his face, he was the one they assigned my daughter appointment with, apparently he made plans so this is y he wanted to change the appointment time. So the receptionist tells me she is looking for someone else to do my daughters hair don't worry someone is coming she says.... meantime, He walks up to my daughter with his hands up and started yelling at her that if u have an appointment n come in so late how can u think I'm gonna do ur hair, my daughter was shaking so upset., (12 min late) Ohhh i went right In his face N had some words with him n I left the place ,. thank god I found another place that took my daughter in and did a great job that was half the price!! I like this place - its close to my house, its not expensive at all - its clean, and the people that work there are all really nice. I have tried a bunch of salons and while none really stuck out in my mind as the place I HAVE to go, I will definitely be coming back here. When she left there, my mom & I followed her to LaCole. To my surprise, I went to high school with the owners!!! Along the way, I even found out I went to high school with Adrienne as well! When I got married on September 4, 2011, I knew where I wanted to get my hair & make-up done. Vicki did my hair & Julie did my make-up (both the trial run & actual day). The salon also did my bridal party. AND, they even did my hair & make-up for my brother's wedding as well! I love how they made me look for both occasions & I love my haircuts from Adrienne!!!! Lacole salon is fantastic. I'm a client of Joe Scoleri for almost 10 years. I've been to the North Shore and paid top dollar for supposedly the best. They don't hold a candle to Joe's skills. He is truly an artist with color, especially balayage. I truly feel like a movie star when I leave the salon. My hair looks that good! And, his cuts are precise and amazing.
