Due to COVId street parking is a bit easier, but do plan ahead for parking. Once we return to a new normal. They ask you the standards questions and you enter with a mask and you wash your hands. Kayla was great. We discussed options and she got to work. We had good conversation and in no time the cut was over. I like that she gave me a cool textured look on top and it's been always to style since I left. The space is great. Spacious and decorated with old signs, and knick knacks. Pretty cool. You pay over the phone so there is limited touch. It's pretty cool. My usual stylist moved, so needed to find someone new. Sad to change but happy with what I found. Went in for a clean up and after talking with Sierra she made a few suggestions and being open to possibilities, I said "let's do it!" Immediately, I knew I was going to like it. Situated right on Congress street in a bustling downtown location, this place is a pure gem. Giant windows in the front allow for a lot of natural light, which adds even more to the wonderful ambience they have going on here. No harsh lighting here! The decor is simple yet beautiful. The hair stylists work well together and are super friendly! You can really tell that the owner takes pride in her work, as do her employees. The bathroom even has a glamorous feel! I feel at home when I'm here, and I am so glad Jessica made the transition to this space! Also, I once had a haircut done by Kaitlyn and I can easily say she gave me the best hair washing experience I've ever had to the point I'm considering just booking her on random occasions when I need a deep clean wash. The space is beautifully decorated and I like the lounge area (there's one downstairs and upstairs). You can enjoy coffee, tea, sparkling water and a granola bar while you wait for your appointment. Linda changed all of that a few years ago with a fantastic cut which let me return to the wash and shake dry days of my youth. It is no exaggeration to say that she gave my hair back to me: my formerly dry and heat-damaged hair is now soft and healthy again. And if that were not enough, the second floor salon overlooking Congress Square Park and Linda's company are both a pleasure to experience. I know this is long- so here's the synopsis for those in a hurry. DO NOT GO TO HEAD GAMES FOR NAIL…read moreSERVICES! The situation: I was psyched to find an opening for a semi- last minute mani/pedi on a dreary Tuesday afternoon. I thought it was odd that I'd been asked for a $25 deposit when I made the appointment over the phone, but this was the last service I needed to book for my self-care day after an exhausting, heartbreaking personal matter, so I complied. As I waited in the small seating area, I had a sense of foreboding. At check in, I was offered water, coffee or tea, but there was no warmth. It didn't feel welcoming. A couple moments later I was greeted by the nail tech and taken back to a room with two manicure tables on the right and to the left, a long couch with pillows and several foot basins. During my pedicure, the nail tech and I sat in silence, with only a Spotify station of bland piano music in the background; if I had to guess I'd say it was movie theme songs. Not exactly my cuppa tea. The nail tech, who never told me her name, would occasionally ask me a question but they were few and far between, making our time together rather awkward. So I either looked at my phone or stared at the blank wall behind her. The pedi itself was okay, except the massage part (my favorite!) There was no real effort put into it at all. After 45 minutes of awkward silence, I seriously considered telling her not to bother with the manicure, but against my better judgement, I stuck around. To make a long story a bit shorter, she had to touch up my toe nails because she had me put the pedi slippers on after my nails were painted. Then she had to re-do my nail polish because she told me they were dry and when I went to put my socks and boots back on, they were immediately destroyed. The nail polish was AWFUL. It was a goopy, sticky mess. I had to choose a whole new color because the first one was quite obviously past its prime. To make matters worse, the manicure itself was sub par. No soaking, no pushing back of cuticles, she used this cuticle softening cream and just cut back a few random pieces of dead skin. I got no lotion and no massage (again- my favorite!!!!!) Two and a half hours and $85 later ( not including tip,) I walked out of the salon in a pretty bad mood. Ten minutes later, I arrived at my next destination to find that my fingernails had a white film around them, were not dry, and were messed up AGAIN. I immediately called the salon and told them I couldn't come back now because the tech had already done my nails twice and I had a prior engagement, but wanted my nails te-painted. This is where I became furious. She says- "Ugh, we need to get new nail polish, it's nothing she (the nail tech) did." First of all- I never said the nail tech did anything wrong. I said she had to paint my nails twice. Secondly- if your nail polish is so bad, get new polish or just don't offer nail services. Lastly- no apology? Are you kidding me??? Bad. All very bad. To top it off, when I assumed my repaint would be at no charge, she hesitates, at which point I finally lose my patience and remind her that I just spent $85. And then she concedes. Still no apology. After hanging up, I immediately go into the bathroom and pull of my socks and shoes. After over an hour of manicure, my toes were apparently, still wet and the paint was a mess. Over the next few days, every time I looked down at my nails, I became angry all over again. I realized I couldn't return for my repaint because I wouldn't be able to keep my composure. So I canceled my appointment the Friday before. I will not return. I will tell my salon, who recommended I go there, to stop recommending them, and I, in turn will not recommend my family or friends. I should've taken my husband's advice- "Don't go to a place called Head Games to get your nails done."

In the beginning of 2020 Head Games Salon was running a $95 promotion where you receive five…read moreservices. Due to Covid they temporarily closed. I tried to schedule a hair appointment in July as one out of the five services and was told they aren't honoring that promotion due to covid and to try scheduling the following month. So, I waited a month and called in August to schedule a hair appointment and was told the promotion has changed from five services to three. (Not ok to changed a promotion once purchase has been made.) I was also told I had to get the three services by the end of August. Decided to not ask for a refund since $95 for three services is still a good deal. I made my hair appointment and was supposed to get a partial highlight and cut as one of the three services. They notified me that they couldn't blow dry hair due to Covid but when I arrived a customer was LITERALLY getting their hair blow dried. My hairdresser was very nice but unfortunately my highlights were not noticeable at all. I was also charged an Audi tonal $50. I left with wet hair and blew out my hair once I got home and was unhappy with the highlights. I have NEVER called to ask for highlights redone but with all the scheduling issues, wet hair, and extra charge, I decided to call and ask for it corrected. I was also told that they would ask why I was charged the $50. The same hairdresser fixed my highlights and they look great. I asked for a manager's contact to get the $50 put back on my card and was given an email address. I have yet to receive an email back and I've called/texted the salon several times but no response. They owe me $50 for a charge they should've never made. Overall this has been the worst experience I've had at a salon. I would not recommend anyone to go here. I hope you read this and stay away!

This year I was last minute and called around the morning I was looking to get my hair done. Lo and behold, Green With Envy had an opening for me that morning! I worked with Marissa - I told her that my hair is the thinnest crap on earth and that I never get it done - and she was very friendly and didn't judge my heinous, spaghetti-string hair. She gave me a quote and we went to it! Marissa did foils for me - I wanted to go blonder - and she also gave me a cut to get rid of the dead ends. It looked SO. GOOD. I have gotten so many compliments. Her skill with color is seriously like nothing I've ever seen before. She made sure to keep it natural looking but very clearly lighter. I am so happy with the outcome. They offer tea/water/coffee when you walk in, they use heated towels for the shampoo, and they give you a neck massage before your haircut. It's all pretty baller. That being said, it's priiiiiiicey. My cut and color was $250 before tip (they charge for each refill of bleach/color, and for toner, which I had never been charged for before). Be sure to bring your credit card and ask for a quote beforehand so you aren't totally blindsided. This is a gorgeous and relaxing salon right in Monument Square with some fabulous stylists that want you to be comfortable. If you go, GET MARISSA, because she's the Kween. I'll save my pennies and go back when I can!

The mirrors and chandeliers are amazing touches! You are offered a drink upon arrival which is always a nice touch. As well as a complimentary eye brow wax and neck massage!!! It was awesome! I also really enjoyed the products that Kayla used in my hair. Kayla really is an amazing beautician. She cares about her clients needs and listens to your concerns. She always takes her time and makes sure that your cut is just right. She is a perfectionist in order to make sure you feel and look amazing when you leave. I have had a lot of hairdressers over the years, but she is my absolute favorite. Plus, she does the very best eyebrows!
