Got recommendation for Thea salon from FB community group when I was asking around for hairstylist who is familiar handling thick asian hair ( me ) Texted her ( phone number is the one that listed ) and super easy to get appointment. Thea asked do I want to cut only ( $18 short hair $20 long hair ) or with shampoo and style ($35). I choose cut only because with the covid thing I really just want get in get out. And she also warned me to bring mask which I happily complied Came there 10 mnts before my appointment. She covered with the plastic cover that she can throw it away after each customer. She understand the style that I want ( blunt cut with texture ) and delivered it in 30 mnts. Very nice lady. We chat about hair colour too. She's very cautious and clean all the surface every time she got new customer. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. She take only cash and venmo at the moment. So venmo it is. Asked her if I can use her bathroom and she immediately gave me gloves before I enter the bathroom. I just moved here and was looking for an affordable hair salon for the low maintenance person I am. I didn't need to have a lot done to my hair, but just to cut off 3 inches of my hair and add layers back in it since it's grown out so long. I found Thea on Yelp and was convinced by all the stars and reviews she had received. I'm glad that I can now add more stars to her page! Thea is super sweet and very good and fast at what she does. I was happy that she gave me the option of getting my hair cut with scissors or a razor. We settled for both: razor to blend the ends of my hair that we cut off and scissors to create the look of layers. I was very happy with the results. I was also very happy with the price. She charged $18 for the cut with no hair washing, which was what she told me on the phone when I made the appointment so it wasn't a surprise. She made conversation with me the entire time about my schooling, about how she's Cambodian and how I've been there, and etc. She made me feel very welcome. The shop looks like it was converted from a home so it's small and cozy and doesn't feel like a place of business, which feels comforting. There's a small private parking lot in the back for you to park. There's a back entrance closer to the parking as well as the main front entrance on Forest Ave. I recommend Thea and look forward to coming back for more haircutting magic! read more

Moving to a new town and finding a new place to get one's hair cut is ALWAYS difficult, so after a year of being here, I finally stopped by this cute little house that came highly recommended by some classmates. I have no info on the background or the owners, but I made an appointment this afternoon and stopped by for a quick trim. Word of advice: make an appointment! At least five people wandered in while I was getting my hair cut and the nice lady working on my hair asked them to stop by 4 hours later. I know I'd hate that, but it seems like they were all regulars and they were happy to come back at a later time. My cut (layers and bangs) came out to $15 and I believe most guys' cuts are $12. Thea owns Thea Salon. Thea also happens to be THE hairdresser. She is incredibly friendly, efficient, and truly listens to what her clients are looking for. Not to mention the inexpensive hair cuts. This is a no-frills place. Don't expect a full on head and neck massage (in fact, no hair washing involved at all!) or the designer hair products. More of a, get-in, get-out. She asks me what style of hairstyle I desire, then spritzes my straight, thick hair down with water. She goes to work, while making conversation (in a very non-intrusive way), and depending on the complexity of the cut, finishes in 30 minutes or so. (I have loongg thiiick hair) $17 I think for a haircut? Worth it. Plus, there is parking in the back lot for your car. read more

I saw the great reviews & decided to try Thea's this afternoon. I've been looking for a hairdresser who will give me a basic trim without it costing an arm & a leg. I was lucky enough to walk in right after someone canceled, so she was able to squeeze me in immediately. She was very sweet & asked me several questions to get a sense of what I wanted, how much to take off, etc. and continued to asked if it was ok as she was cutting. Overall, I had a great experience and have a perfect, low maintenance cut for $15! Can't beat that. I really enjoyed my visit here. I got a great hair cut for what I consider a GREAT price! I showed Thea a picture of what I wanted and she got right to work. Meanwhile, we chatted and the conversations weren't forced or awkward. Sometimes, I feel like some hair stylist feel the need to force a conversation. This felt very natural and genuine. I don't get haircuts very often and didn't really know what to ask for, but the owner was very friendly and showed me pictures and explained about different styles. During the haircut, she stopped a few times and gave me more options about sideburns, back, front, etc. I was added in to her schedule past the closing hour and I wish I could add another star for the outstanding service. In the past, I've gotten only a handful of professional haircuts before weddings, interviews, etc and I would have to say that this experience was the best to date. Amazing. I went to her last minute for an updo. I've had at least a dozen updos in my life... and not once has my hair looked like the hair in the photo. Fast forward to yesterday when I ran in to her salon with a fistful of photos of bouffants and beehives for a Mad Men theme party. She consulted with me, helped me pick the style that worked best for my face... and then worked magic. My hair looked amazing.
