Stopped by to get help with picking shade of foundation. I Had hard time finding available person to help me. First clerk to help me, didn't seem very comfortable in finding correct shade. She then said she was on her way to break and turned me over to Brittany. Brittany was fabulous in finding correct shade. Next time, I will go back to the store on Saginaw. read more

Very pushy sales associates. I went in for a gift for my wife. When I was checking out the associate said "Email address?" I said, "No thank you" She said, "oh we don't send you anything" I said, "No thank you, I am set" She pushed the issue again, "Are you sure? We don't spam your email address or give it out to anyone." How many times can I say no, before they get the message? There is obviously a reason why you want my email address so bad. I am not interested in giving out my information. Here is my money, give me the product and a receipt. End of transaction. She was very rude to me after I didn't give in and give her my email address. I am assuming they have quotas to meet or incentives for collecting email addresses. If this is the case, the company must benefit from having it in some way, either selling the information to marketers or sending me spam to encourage me to give them more money. No means no! Won't be returning to Ulta. I hate pushy salespeople. read more

Went into the store at 6:50 with no clue they closed at 7. Was warmly greeted instantly. Not only that but everyone was friendly the whole time. I know recognize that they were checking in on me because the store was closing. However, they never mentioned that I was there beyond closing or seemed frustrated with me. Can't say how thrilled this made me. At checkout I asked about the birthday month gift. Given that it was 7:10 I know a lot of stores would have been frustrated with that request. Not only were the nice but they wished me happy birthday, which is today. They were out of the gift but found a sample and give me options to choose from. It was so sweet. Thank you for being so kind in this stressful time. It was only after leaving that I realized I was there past closing. I just hope the staff see this and know that I appreciate the kindness. We all need that kindness. Not just today. But everyday. read more

Rude. Snobby. Sales associates stalk/follow customers of all ages/races around from aisle to aisle and have horrible attitudes and lame "reasons" for following you around. Not to mention store is a mess. Sound like a good place to relax, browse & shop? Yeah, exactly. Skip this place and hit Sephora--at least they know what they're doing and they don't treat their customers like criminals. Wish I could give zero stars! read more

This review is specifically for the salon, but more specifically for Jennifer in the Okemos Ulta salon. I went in there the other day for the first time for the $60 deal on cut and color. Jennifer was awesome! She was very friendly and was totally interested in chatting but didn't get distracted. She was very methodical about doing my hair which I totally appreciate. But aside from the experience in the salon, I usually deal with realizing that I hate my hair a few days after leaving the salon. But not this time! It's been a few days and I still love the color, it fits my skin tone perfectly. And the style. Jennifer styled my hair in the salon the way that I could easily do at home, which made it easier to see how it all came together and why I still love it today. Most importantly Jennifer listened to me when I told her about how my hair usually behaves and what colors usually suit me. Nothing worse than when a stylist ignores you and does their own thing with YOUR hair. I'll definitely be going back in and highly recommend Jennifer! read more

I've officially given up on this store. I was so excited when they opened Ulta, but they have possibly the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. I've worked in retail, I get it, it's not fun, but that's no reason to treat everyone like crap. I make a point to be overly nice to people that work in retail, but even so every time I go in there they're so rude and act like you're inconveniencing them by being there. I kept going back thinking it was just one off experiences, but it happens every time. Every time I come out saying "What the heck was THAT?!". I thought maybe it was just me until I heard from a couple others that they hate it there because of the awful customer service. I've just started buying everything elsewhere. If that means I have to pay a little extra in shipping from Sephora, so be it. Step it up, Ulta. I WANT to go to your store. I WANT to buy from you. Why are you making it so difficult?! read more

Stopped in on Saturday to pick up some Dermablend Camouflage Concealer and they were out of my color. This is the 2nd Ulta that I've been to that has a Dermablend shortage going on. Now that I know my color, I'll probably stick to ordering it online. Way easier. The girl at the makeup counter though was super helpful and very friendly. read more

I made an appointment to get my hair colored and the receptionist asked me for my home address and date of birth. For this reason I cancelled my appointment because they should not ask for that kind of personal questions. It's not a medical appointment for the receptionist to ask that. I felt offended and won't be going back there. read more

My Grandma, of all people, told me about Ulta! She treated me to a little shopping spree to stock up on whatever beauty products I might need. Ulta carries....well, everything....from expensive high-end products to the stuff you can find at Walgreens. So I got my Oil of Olay face wash cloths, and some fancy salon hair spray, bath gel, deep conditioner, body lotion... they have nail polish, fragrance, hair supplies, shaving supplies - they have it all! Including really expensive skin care products that you see at department stores. There also is a "men's product section" though it's relatively small. Prices are comparable to what you'd find purchasing these items in regular stores - salon stuff pricey, drugstore stuff not. They have a rewards program (not a credit card) that you can join for free to earn points, and they email you coupons. Also you get a free brow wax on your birthday - they have a little mini-salon in the back! It's a great place for one-stop shopping for skincare, bath products, makeup, hair products, fragrance - and everything else! read more
