I got my haircut by Ahmet in early August. I went because of the reviews. My hair is very thin (almost see through) and is kept in a short bob. I should have known it wouldn't go well when he used thinning shears on the sides...:(. While my hair looked cute when I left it was the absolute worse grow out I've ever had! My hair will start to look like it needs another cut around 6-8 weeks and I can go 10 weeks. This time it looked good for less than a month. I went here because of the yelp reviews I don't understand how they can be so high. Also, for my hair, most places will charge the minimum or even slightly less since it is so thin (usually dries before the haircut is done) and takes less time to cut and blow dry, but here was surprised charged $10 more. read more

An amazing experience very nice people but very frustrated with my haircut. I have curly/wavy hair. I asked for a trim with layering but still be able to put it in a bun because I have been growing it out for the past year and a half. I also said I wanted to keep it at shoulder length and that I do not want a bob. I don't know if it got lost in translation or something but about a third of my hair was cut. I was told but not shown it would be able to be put back in a bun. I can barley fit it in a bun now. Either the front falls out or the back falls out of the "bun" (it is just a small pony tail). I will be wearing hats now to wait for it to regrow. She also cut it while it was wet and styled it before it dried. My hair has now dried and because it curls up it makes it even shorter. read more

I went to Salon Simis desperate for a hair refresh before attending a friend's wedding. Even though I was booking last minute, they made time to fit me in, which I was so grateful for. Anderson did an amazing job on my hair, and was fun to chat with to boot. First off, the salon has a nice atmosphere and the staff is very attentive and helpful. Unfortunately some damage was done to my hair and the color did not come out how I was hoping. This small local business on the ground floor front is owned by Ahmet Simi who has assembled an amazing team of stylists and help. I had been looking for a salon in early 2020, but then covid.... My thick curly hair was tangled and way too long. My stylist Bobbi did an amazing job. I got a new "summer do" cut short and I feel much better thanks to Salon Simis. From the moment you walk in, they are welcoming and kind. They really take care of you, listen to you, make you feel valued and appreciated. Made microdermabrasion appointment with Sona for myself and two other girlfriends. This was our first time with Sona, she was fantastic! From the time she started the microdermabrasion, she explained in details step by step and each time different part of your face or neck was being treated, she would let you know what was being done and how it would improve your look. We all walked in with dry/dull/stressed faces, after the microdermabrasion, we came out with bright/glowing looks. Sona did put on this oatmeal mask after microdermabrasion was finished to take any redness away, it really helped. How have I lived in Fairfax for a year and not found this place until now?? My stylist was Murat, though Ahmet also gave me some tips and color advice for my color in the beginning as well. I wanted to go darker brown (slightly on the red side) for fall, trim up my long layers and get side bangs. Since my hair was partially bleached from my summer balayage, they told me how the color would react to the different sections of my hair. The whole process took about two hours. I also want to give a shout-out to Leila, who washed my hair--great scalp massage! Everyone is super nice there. I found Ahmet when I returned to the area after spending 2 years in NYC. I drive to the salon from Arlington rather than go somewhere close or in the District because they are just that good. Ahmet will listen to what you want, but won't hold back if you ask his opinion. After getting chemical Keratin treatments for 6+ years, Ahmet advised that I try the non chemical version. I was skeptical at best, but now after months have passed, I can confidently say that Ahmet was right. This version is just as effective as the chemical one (and obviously way better for you). I've been getting color, cuts, and Brazilian straightening treatments with Anderson for about a year now. Each time it's been a great experience and my hair has turned out exactly the way I wanted. My hair is a delicate because I also do Yuko straightening, but Anderson does a great job taking care of it and repairing damage with extra conditioning treatments. He's also great at brainstorming subtle changes to color, for example adding some chocolate to neutral, or talking through exactly how dark to go. The cost is also reasonable for the service you're getting. Everyone else at the salon is polite and the space is clean and nice. Would highly recommend Anderson and Salon Simis. read more

I absolutely love my hair! I hated wearing my hair down because in the morning before work it was frizzy and hard to do, Ahmet advised me to try the hair Botox treatment. It's been a month and my hair is soft, tamable and quick to blow dry, curl or straighten . I even went back to get a balayage and hair cut. Not enough words to say how wonderful my experience was! I called for an appointment and they had a same day opening. I arrived and was warmly greeted. I sat down on a lovely green couch and waited for my stylist, Bobbi (I was a bit early). She warmly greeted me and brought me to the back and we began to discuss what I wanted to do. I felt complete trust in her from beginning to end of the process. I asked for a rose gold balayage and that's exactly what I got! Bobbi, along with the owner (I'm pretty sure) worked to get the color I desired. Everything is blended beautifully and evenly saturated with color. I really liked, when blow drying my hair, not many products were used. A heat protectant before and hair spray and a smoothing solution after. Update- the owner Ahmet messaged me almost immediately to come back in to help fix the coloring in the house. Staff was once again extremely friendly, even providing free samples of hair products to use after the appointment. We went in with another round of "balayage," focusing on the splotchy areas. The result came out improved yet still visible but I do not blame the business for I saw them attempt to fix it and it may be plausible other factors such as mineral buildup may have caused this. I have had my hair cut at this salon about 4 times in the past year and a half, (past three times with the same stylist). Overall it seems to be a very well run salon with many talented stylists. Up until my most recent visit, I had always been very happy with my hair. Unfortunately, I really really hate the most recent haircut that I got here, so much so that I feel the need to vent. My hair has been thinned out significantly. This is the last thing I wanted as I already have thin hair. With the previous two cuts this stylist gave me, they did an excellent job making it feel and appear thicker. I do not understand why they cut it this way this last time. I have medium-long hair and we agreed on about 3 inches off and a little framing around the face. I guess I misunderstood because I thought the face framing would just be a subtle tapering of the hair that is right around my face. Instead I got these huge chunks of hair in the front that are well above my shoulders and are constantly falling forward into my face. It really creates a sharp separation between the hair in the front and the hair in the back. It is driving me absolutely crazy and has annoyed and frustrated me every single day since I got the cut, (which was about 2 weeks ago). Also, because it's now so thin, I am finding it is much more prone to static, making it even more uncomfortable. The overall length, at its longest part is only about 3 inches shorter, however there were much shorter layers put in. When I try to put it up in a clip to keep it out of my face, the front pieces start falling out, and it's too thin and layered for the clip to hold it up. All I can do at this point is wait for it to grow out enough, which I think will be many many months . I guess the moral of the story is, even at a great salon with an experienced, talented stylist, you can end up with a haircut that you hate. My mistake was not communicating more specifically, partly because, from the past two cuts, I assumed the stylist knew intuitively how to cut my hair, and partly because I felt a bit rushed prior to cut, as the stylist is maybe not the best listener. (Note that I am intentionally not naming the stylist as I have no desire to hurt anyone's livelihood, and think that in general they are quite good at their job). Ok, rant over, I've done my venting. Lastly, in fairness, I will state that my overall opinion of Salon Simis is a positive one, (just don't know if I could ever go back ) read more

I returned to the same stylist only to be given and charged for services that were never requested, the stylist there was pushy and condescending, and was more worried about promoting his personal instagram page and the company's Yelp page than giving me the hairstyle I had asked for. He is truly gifted in his art and it was a pleasure and honor to have him do my hair. He is meticulous, creative, and is careful to listen to exactly what the client wants.
