When I first walked into this salon, the first thought that came to mind was how immaculately clean and pretty it was. The interior was spacious, airy, and modern. Walls and furniture were gleaming in white, and vibrant artwork was displayed on the walls. Since I had come in during the middle of the week, they were not busy at all. The owner greeted me and was cheerful and pleasant. I was soon accosted to the washing station, where the owner's cousin gave me a vigorous scalp massage and shampooing. Deniz, who cut my hair, was quiet but efficient and quick. I had asked for a trim since I was growing my hair out, and he definitely listened to my needs. The haircut took less than 30 minutes (including the shampooing,cut, blow dry, and styling). I liked the length that was taken off, and despite the fact that it was only a trim, I came out looking like I definitely went to the salon. Deniz definitely knows what he's doing and gave me a great cut despite the small length of hair that was taken out. I would definitely go back to this place for future cuts and look forward to getting my hair colored with them in the future. read more

I could not love Salon Simis any more than I do. Ahmet is amazing, as is his entire staff. I will never go anywhere else for cuts, treatments, or blowouts... They have a customer for life. I also tell everyone I know about this place; they're that great. His sister (I forget her name-- sorry!) has recently started offering threading services, which I took advantage of last weekend. WOW! Her attention to detail and amazing eyebrow shaping was unparalleled. I've had my eyebrows waxed, plucked, etc. from so many different salons and, of course, resorted to doing it myself after not being able to find someone worth their weight. To preface my review, I will not be returning because I am not wealthy. Outside of the high cost, the salon is lovely. The customer service is excellent. I was not happy that I booked a haircut and ended up getting my hair blown out so she could texturize it, but I knew what was coming based on other reviews, so I just sat there quietly. I was headed to the gym so the styling was a waste. I got the impression that it is common practice to bump up each client to sell more services because they hand you a price sheet when you sit down and also the complaints on Yelp about the practice. I think my stylist, Demi, was very, very good and also very nice, but I will not return due to cost. I am successful in my line of work, but I would not pay double what I make in an hour for a haircut. A little greedy in my estimation. Not her fault, of course. There are nice salons in the area that include a blowout and texturizing and shaping with your cut for around $50. If I want just a plain cut, I can go to a cheap shop for that. I will be shopping around. I also had my eyebrows done. I thought it was great until I got home and saw all the missed spots. It was a very, very bad eyebrow job. Not worth $30 with tip. I prefer Benefit Brow Bar. Those girls are usually perfectionists. And they are less expensive. So the bottom line is, if money is not an issue, I would totally recommend you go here for a cut, style, et cetera. If money is an issue, you will not like it. I spent around $120 after tipping three employees for a cut, blow out, and eyebrow wax. After all is said and done, the service blows away many of the VA businesses I have frequented. This salon's service blows me away every time. I don't normally write reviews, however, after my last two appointments I had to say something. The first time I came to Salon Simis, I had a consultation with the owner and head stylist, Ahmet, and he actually told me to come back when my hair was much longer. I loved that he was willing to wait that long for my business so that I would truly love the cut and style he gave me. After seven months, I finally came back and was given long layers. He listened to exactly what I wanted, but for some things he told me to trust his judgment. I'm glad I did because I have never had hair with so much volume. A week later, I came back for a balayage. Ahmet transitioned the lighter colors into my hair seamlessly, but after he was done, I felt like the color I had asked for were too light in comparison to my natural color. I came back a few days later and he added more highlights and a slightly darker color for free! I have never spent so much on my hair before, but I have also never felt like I had beautiful hair. Salon Simis changed that for me, and even offered me a student discount to help out a poor college student! I love this place and don't see why I would go anywhere else. read more

I have been going to Salon Simis for almost three years now, along with my mother. They have dyed, cut and styled my hair many times, but my most recent visit left me most impressed. I came in wanting a fun, new change. As you can see in the first picture, my hair was a mixture of darker and golden blonde, and very very damaged. I showed Deniz pictures of a dark to cool blonde balayage and he set to work. After hours of impeccable work, my hair came out stunning. My appointment was with Deniz, he introduced himself and we talked about my balayage color options and the right cut and style for me. The owner is a stylist as well 3. Each stylist is knowledgeable on products that work best with your hair type 4. They listen to your requests thoroughly (they never assume what you want, and even help look up pictures of the hair style you had in mind, and make suggestions based on head shape and hair type) The price is around 40 dollars, but you get a shampoo, cut, and style in a neat and orderly fashion. They don't try to up sell the products they have, but recommend the type of product you should use if you want to style. They are more concerned with keeping you happy than making money, and that is the best quality of Salon Simis As long as I live in the Washington DC metro area, I will go out of my way to get a hair cut here without a doubt. Everyone in here knows what they're doing when it comes to hair. My stylist Taylor was beyond amazing! She's so knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and that truly showed with the end results. My hair was quite a mess from previously having had all different shades of blonde highlights to then box dying it red. Taylor and the owner, Ahmet tag teamed and completely transformed my hair while also maintaining it's health. I can't recommend them enough. I've been to many salons around the area, and Salon Simis & Spa is easily my favorite. Everything's great, from the environment to the actual hair styling. I went there for my second time for a haircut and balayage, and have never been more happy with the final look. I was worried because every other place I've gone to makes the highlights choppy and they always say it'll look more natural over time. Roger is a literal mastermind with hair, he knew exactly what I wanted, even helping me choose what looked best with my darker complexion. Still being a teenager, I was a bit worried that they wouldn't take me serious or really listen, but it was the complete opposite. Roger made sure I knew what I was spending on, said he'd start all over if I didn't like it, and would explain the purpose of certain styling techniques. $40 dollars for Men's haircut is a little overpriced for me - especially because I'm used to going to barber who will do facial hair and haircut for $20. But I'm glad I gave this place a shot. Dennis was my stylist and he did an amazing job. I left the salon feeling so-so but then when I got home and saw that he took care of my awkward cowlicks and worked with the shape of my head to get me where I have always wanted to be - I was glad. I just moved to the Nova area, and so I had to begin the notorious search for a new hairstylist.. I checked our Salon Simis to begin my search. It was a bit pricey, but based on the glowing reviews it had, how could I not give it a shot? This was definitely the right choice. I couldn't believe how fantastic the experience was. Ahmet cut my hair, and did it wonderfully. I started off by giving a general idea of what I was looking for. He took his time to analyze how my hair was reacting to what he was doing. My hair started kicking up a bunch of cow licks all over the place, and he addressed the problem areas. He kept going, and at times I thought he was going to ruin my hair, but he KNEW what he was doing. The finished product was even better than what I was imagining going into the salon! On top of the AWESOME haircut, the service was just as stunning. Ahmet was very friendly and sociable, and even explained what he was doing while cutting my hair. At the end, he even suggested ways to style it for work, or for casual use. He said he was glad the way it turned out, but it always turns out even BETTER the second time. My usual hairdresser in Alexandria moved to LA, so I was on the lookout for a great colorist in the area. SO happy I read through Yelp reviews and decided to make an appointment with Ahmet at Salon Simis. Both the process and the results were fantastic. The salon is bright, clean, and modern. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Ahmet took the time to do a thorough hair color consultation, showing me samples and explaining the ammonia free products he uses. The cut was super flattering, and he used cutting techniques I've never seen before. (I've had my hair cut in SF, Boston, DC, Shanghai, and LA thanks to band touring.) The layers hit in just the right places, and the color was rich and shiny. No terrible chemical smells thanks to the ammonia free color products, no dark color stains around my hairline like I'm used to after appointments. I literally went straight to a networking event for work from the salon and felt fabulous. I plan on returning soon for balayage. Ahmet is THE BEST. I'm originally from Maryland and moved here to live with my boyfriend but still commuted all the way back to Towson for my old hair stylist .. Which was a pain and she wasn't even half as great. I have Asian hair and if they're any fellow blonde Asians out there you all know how hard it is to bleach our hair to the perfect bombshell shade. I used to just deal with my scalp chemical burns just so I can be close to be my desired color (that had to be brassy and fade in a few weeks to where it should be) but not with Ahmet. Whatever he uses has my hair feeling softer and stronger when I walk out! Not only is he amazing but he truly knows his colors and how to mix them so you don't have to sit under a dryer for 3 hours. I looked up on yelp what was the best in Fairfax and this salon popped up at the top of the list. The staff was really nice. It was really chic in there. Ahmet was my guy and the owner. He was doing 2 other clients while taking care of my appt. He did everything under two hours and I was very happy with the results. He gave me 20% off with my student ID which was even better. The only thing was that the blow dry was not good on my hair. I couldn't run my finger through my hair and my hair didn't feel soft. I am giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe the chemicals from the dye didn't help or maybe the shamppoing wasnt done thoroughly. I think I need to come when he is not so busy. I do like the color and the cut. I just didn't like the blow out. The dryer kept burning my ears! However, I do recommend this place for anyone that needs to find a replacement. read more
