So glad I found Heather here to be my regular stylist. She gives such wonderful color and haircuts (my friend that I referred to here is saying the same thing :-) I've been wondering how stylists can cut your hair during this time when they can't see your whole face under the masks. Well, that obstacle couldn't stop Heather to do an amazing job She listens to what I want, knows instantly what to do balancing my dream haircut vs the reality of my hair and delivers the perfect outcome :) I wanted some bangs to cover the extra fat on my face I've been gaining since the pandemic LOL. My hair is genetically very thin, so I'm glad Heather told me NO it wasn't a good idea and gave me a lot of nicely framing layers instead. I went to get my dark brown hair dyed bright blue, after being told it would cost me over $470 to do so by another salon I found this absolute jem! I booked my appointment not long after my consultation, both Heather and I thought it would take 2 appointments to bleach my hair to the right shade for bright blue but she knocked it out first go! It took a little over 2 hours to bleach my hair to blonde and dye it blue, it's absolutely perfect and I love it! I'm 100% only going here from now on. read more

I love love luuuuuurve this place! DeShon is my kindred and I don't think I'll ever be going anywhere else unless I move out of state. Every time I see her, I want something different, and she is SO GREAT at listening and creating something beautiful out of your ideas. And if you want color? Yeah, see this gal. She's done it all on me; foils, dye, color-lifting/correcting (when I no longer wanted jet black from my normally auburn hair), ombrés.. You seriously can't go wrong with this sassy, savvy goddess. She's not satisfied with your results unless you are thrilled! Heather is also really fantastic! I've not personally had her work on my hair, but I've been in here enough (with my long-ass, thick hair) to watch her work and I've seen beautiful results on her clients. She's also very gifted at color, and she can do an invert like it's nobody's business! The whole crew here are hilarious. I love listening to the random bantering, quips, jokes, and singing. I laugh every time I come in! The ambience is fun with photos and art covering one of the main walls, the hanging table installation art, the animal print seating, and other whimsical, girly elements that make this place an unlikely haven in downtown Kent. Who would've thunk it?! Their complimentary beverages are really appreciated too. I've had the pleasure of enjoying waters, wine, and freshly brewed coffee so far, though they also have other options as well. And do you want to hear the icing on the cake? When it's all said and done, they are really reasonably priced too! I've gone to several places in the past that have damn near choked me when I found out how much my total was. After my stylist retired, I was in dire need of a good cut. After emailing back and forth with Salon Smitten, I decided to give them a try. Heather is AH-MAY-ZING! I'm something of a nightmare client and it's very rare that I'll just sit back and let a new stylist do their own thing. From the minute I sat down in the chair, I knew Heather had this. My hair is fine and she knew exactly how to handle it - despite my multiple cowlicks. She's also super fun to chat with and the salon itself is well kept and cute. The local artwork is a great touch! I was extremely disappointed with the haircut I received from one of the stylists there so I called, left a voicemail & the owner of the store called me back. I explained to her the situation. She insisted that I have the same stylist who botched my hair, fix it. I understand that the stylists who work there rent their 'stations'. However, as the owner of the salon she is still responsible for those that rent/lease those 'chairs. Is she not concerned about the integrity or the- reputation of her salon? I told her that I would prefer to have someone else fix my hair (not the same girl).. She, herself offered to do it "just to make me happy" but I would have to be there @ 11am.. I start work at 11am. She offered NO other solutions. I was stuck with a choppy haircut & out $50. I would not recommend going to this salon. The staff is impolite. read more

It's pretty rare to find a stylist that you can just tell to do whatever they want with your hair, and fully trust that you won't leave in tears. I found Heather and she's awesome, and I can totally tell her to do whatever she thinks is best! I've never been disappointed. She's very cool and friendly and makes good conversation while you're there. Prices are reasonable ($50 for a shampoo/cut/blow dry) and they send you a gift for a free blowout on your birthday. ~this was my first time getting my hair done. I had an appointment with Heather. She was great. She texted me saying that hope to see you tomorrow. I asked her if she does fashion colors. I wanted rose gold hair color. She said yes. I messaged her pictures of how I wanted my hair to look. I came there early. It took about 3 hours to do my hair. I recently moved from LA and have been looking for a new place to get my hair done close to my work in Kent. I was excited to see that Smitten had 5 stars and that it was reasonable - usually 2 things that may not go hand in hand on Yelp especially when it comes to salons. Heather was great because she listened to exactly what I wanted, bang trim and over all trim to get the ends healthy, and I stressed that I didn't want to see a difference in length. I love my long locks and have had stylists in the past chop off *god forbid* 4 inches. My cut turned out awesome and more importantly my bangs are finally on point - a huge sigh of relief because if you have bangs you know that your bangs either make you or break you (too long, too short, etc.) Inside Tip: Salon Smitten will be moving soon (5 minutes away) and they will be providing the new salon address with the text reminder so never fear fellow Yelpers! I started my career in a salon, and I got spoiled by awesome stylists. It's made me rather particular, and when in doubt I'd rather just cut my own hair. I've been following Heather for a few years now, and she's finally got her own place! She has definite personal style, but don't think for one second that the lady doesn't have serious chops. I've always had a soft spot for crazy hairstyles. But the older I get, the less patience and time I have for anything to do with styling. That said, I'm too young to give up on my looks. She does a good job, especially since I was vague about what I wanted (eh, take some off, kinda want to grow it out, it's at an awkward stage, blah blah blah). After several failed attempts to find a great salon, it's finally happened! I did my research here on Yelp, and loved the other photos of both shop interior, and hair. I decided to go see Heather, as I have bright red drugstore dye currently in my hair, but would like to change to a deep turquoise. She was very honest, which I appreciated. She let me know that it would be a multistep process, beginning with the need for me to get more of the cheap dye out of my hair! So we made a plan, and in the meantime she gave me an awesome cut, which my husband loved. I'm looking forward to continuing the process to turquoise, and beyond! read more

I had my hair cut and colored at Salon Smitten yesterday and am happy to say that I have FINALLY found a home for my hair! :) My appointment was for 5pm, but I work in Seattle and didn't make it to the salon until 6pm. Heather was there waiting for me and despite being severely late, she was happy to keep our appointment. She was very professional and listened to all of my requests. Heather was very helpful in choosing a blonde color that helped fix the horribly, awful color I had. I also cut a substantial amount of length off and went for an long bob. I showed her several photos and I am pleased to report that she NAILED it! The cut and color are fabulous! Heather really listened to what I wanted while also explaining to me the best way to fix my horrible color without damaging my hair. Now this salon really is a paradox. Here you have two talented colorists , yet they both just refuse to do the color that the customer (me) wants. I sent Heather the same 3 or 4 pix of the beautiful golden blonde foil ( the long hair pix below). I told her I did not want a flat "one dimensional color,, that I have to have heavier light blonde in front and absolutely ZERO ash" She agreed and reassured me she knew how to foil. To my dismay Heather did EXACTLY the complete opposite of what we had agreed upon. She gave me no heavy lighter pieces in front and very ash ( see the short hair pix, that is how I left the salon). The color was flat which was one thing we discussed not doing during my ( separate) hair color consultation. Heather was nice when I told her I was unhappy but she minimized the Ash. She gave me two appointment dates to come in and have her fix the color, however she offered me only dates that she knew I work in Northgate. I have to say that I enjoyed Heathers personality. My guess is that she totally believes she "has arrived " now due to her success,,, and doesn't have to accommodate what the client asks for when she should. Customer service and performing the service the client so clearly discussed and provided photos of, is a real downfall,....for the client that is, she apparently could care less. I chose colors of swatches I loved. It was the color experts job to know how her hair color products perform!! NOT a clients job to know. Heather should have considered how the tint would take on my extremely overprocessed ,, bleached out and damaged platinum blonde hair. The swatches I loved turned out 3 or 4 shades DARKER and in a totally different color family (ash) than we discussed multiple times. Heather will blame a client for her mistakes read more

***UNACCEPTABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE EVER!!***** The hairstylist named Tesha never showed up to the appointment....! After making me and my friend wait for one hour and driving all the way to Seattle. I brought my friend, who also had an appointment with Tesha at the same time with me. She initially told us she would be late for 15min. After that, she never followed up with us, so we had to keep asking her if she was on her way and what time she would arrive. She at first she was on her way, so we kept waiting in front of the salon, but after 60 min late, she suddenly stop responding to any of our call and text messages. Since the door was closed and we needed to use a restroom, we had to leave and stop waiting for her while she started ignoring us completely. If she did not want to come, she should have just cancelled, or simply do not make an appointment?! Talked to the owner of the salon, and the first thing she asked me was when I want to come in. I explained to her my situation, where it is not that easy for me and my friend to make it there because it costs money and time to drive back and forth between Seattle and Kent with our full-time jobs in Seattle; which we've already spared and wasted at least 2.5 hours driving and waiting for Tesha already. Accordingly, she just said "sorry" and is not responsible for this horrible experience my friend and I had. She did nothing to take the ownership of the matter happened under the salon and to respect our time and effort got entirely wasted (we even arrived there 30min earlier because there was no traffic while Tesha claimed traffic was a reason for being late). It was a very shocking experience and truly disrespectful and unprofessional behavior overall that this stylist Tesha conducted, as well as no careful follow up done by the salon. read more
